Background
Zhang Yuchun was abandoned at the age of six and grew up as an orphan without security. He came to regard Li Qingqiu and the other Qingxiao Sect disciples as family, making him willing to shoulder difficult work without complaint. 6
As Li Qingqiu's Second Junior Brother, he handled much of the sect's early labor, including cooking, chopping wood, feeding chickens, clearing snow, and recruiting disciples. He pressed for early recruitment because he could no longer manage the sect's miscellaneous work alone and wanted time to pursue martial arts himself. 5 9 10
When he and Li Qingqiu discovered the underground Spirit Lake, Zhang Yuchun supported keeping it secret and proposed a controlled rotation in which two disciples cultivated there per day. 6
Personality
Zhang Yuchun is practical, cautious, and highly conscious of the consequences that political decisions can have for Qingxiao Sect. His Political Comet destiny reflects his aptitude for political affairs, while Endurance reflects his capacity to withstand hardship. 1
He is protective of the sect and wary of powerful outsiders. He questioned whether the Emperor's order summoning sect leaders was appeasement or a trap, and he tried to prevent Cai Liang from openly discussing rebellion at their first meeting. 50 107
Though initially described as timid in combat, Zhang Yuchun became increasingly forceful as the sect expanded. By the Tianxuan Mountain investigation, Li Qingqiu noted that he was shedding that earlier timidity and becoming more assertive. 51 199
