Shen Yue earned the title of Sword God during the chaotic era before the founding of Great Li. In his youth, he was known as a god of slaughter; he once entered the Northern Territory alone, fought his way into the Barbarian King's city, and withdrew unharmed. The High Ancestor Emperor reportedly pursued him throughout his life, but Shen Yue never bowed to imperial power. 94

His standing as Number One Under Heaven was not merely reputational. After attaining the title in the mortal martial world, he received enlightenment that transformed his sword intent, allowing him to surpass conventional limits of Martial Dao and defeat cultivators stronger in realm than himself. 96 101

The Pei Clan manipulated Shen Yue into challenging Qingxiao Sect for the Emperor Profound Sword.
