Background / History

Senju Tobirama was Konoha’s Second Hokage, renowned as an inventor of advanced ninjutsu, a policy pioneer, and the Shinobi World’s greatest scientist. Though considered less overwhelmingly powerful than his brother Hashirama, his techniques and policies were described as far ahead of his era. His reputation was also marked by ruthlessness, including the development of forbidden techniques for war. 7 11

His hidden archive beneath the Hokage Rock contained research into artificial Tailed Beasts, negative-emotion absorption, Mangekyō Sharingan, bioengineering, cloning, and an artificial body cultivated from Izuna Uchiha’s and Hashirama Senju’s cells. The body had originally been a product of his research rather than a planned resurrection vessel. 29 95

Hiruzen Sarutobi resurrected Tobirama through the Impure World Reincarnation Technique, intending to restore him as a technological researcher, combat asset, and hidden political piece. After reviewing Hiruzen’s preparations—including cell fusion, sealing techniques, and Earth Grudge Fear—Tobirama accepted the feasibility of transferring into the artificial body. 77
