Background / History

Bai Ye served as a captain in the Uchiha Security Force and introduced a protection-fee system after Konoha denied the force funding and left the Uchiha Clan with dangerous, poorly paid missions. He redistributed the proceeds among his men while ensuring the merchants who paid received protection. His squad’s living conditions improved, and Uchiha En became one of his most devoted followers 1.

He placed personal strength above formal authority and sought Negative Energy to advance his Sharingan. Though Uchiha Gen initially considered him as a potential successor, Gen rejected him as too radical and chose Uchiha Fugaku instead. Bai Ye opposed Fugaku’s succession and defeated him shortly after awakening his Mangekyo Sharingan 2 4 6.

Bai Ye used accusations of betrayal and the rhetoric of the Will of Fire to imprison both Fugaku and Gen. With the Security Force and much of the clan behind him, he became the effective ruler of the Uchiha before being recognized as clan head 7 8 15.

Personality

Bai Ye is intensely strength-focused. He considers titles, political power, and the Hokage’s authority meaningless without the power to enforce them, and he openly rejects the conventional interpretation of the Will of Fire 2 18 21.

He is calculating and deliberately provocative. His Negative Energy System rewards the anger, hatred, pain, and suffering he causes, so he routinely insults opponents and escalates conflicts to strengthen himself. He refers to recurring sources of anger—particularly Konoha’s leadership—as “leeks” to be harvested 20 37 58.

Despite his brutality, Bai Ye acts decisively for the Uchiha Clan’s interests. He finances the Security Force, expands its influence, arms the clan, and repeatedly makes Konoha’s leadership yield to Uchiha demands 1 19 20.

Rōran and the Dragon Vein

Bai Ye travels to Sunagakure to address the puppet threat in the Country of Rōran. He defeats Mukade’s forces, overpowers future Naruto Uzumaki and Yamato, and obtains the Dragon Vein’s control method from Sara in exchange for Rōran’s protection under Sunagakure 144 147.

Akatsuki Leadership

Seeking greater sources of Negative Energy, Bai Ye travels to Amegakure, defeats Konan and the Six Paths of Pain, and presents his plan to destroy four great villages to create peace under one unified power. Nagato transfers Akatsuki’s leadership to him; Bai Ye subsequently kills Uchiha Itachi to establish dominance within the organization 172 182.

Ninja World Unification Plan
