Background

Ye Wen was a web-novel reader before transmigrating into the body of the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King on Douluo Continent. The whale’s original memories reveal both his near-million-year cultivation and his predetermined death: Tang San is meant to kill him during the eighth Sea God trial and claim his Soul Rings and Soul Bones. Ye Wen resolves to overturn that fate rather than accept it. 1

His foreknowledge also gives him a constraint: Tang San must not be killed or crippled before their designated Fated Duel. Ye Wen therefore focuses on weakening Tang San’s future advantages, beginning with the Evil Orca King whose Soul Ring and Soul Bone would otherwise strengthen Tang San. 1 2

Appearance

In his original Soul Beast form, Ye Wen is a colossal sapphire-blue whale approximately 200 meters long. One of his enormous eyes is blind, having been wounded by the Sea God’s Trident; he relies on perception and spiritual power rather than sight in battle. 1 149

He treats overwhelming force as a practical means of recruitment, repeatedly giving opponents a choice between voluntary submission and defeat followed by contract.
