Chapter 35: Golden Dragon King
Afterward, Su Qiu contacted the Administrator to handle the matter, and that was the end of it.
Guang Long behaved himself throughout. The moment he heard he would be handed over to the Administrator, he did not think much of it.
He had been taken in plenty of times before. Hadn't his big brother always bailed him out by the next day at the latest?
Little did he know that this time, once he went in, it would be for life.
With just one word from Su Qiu, even his older brother, the captain of the East Sea Mecha Squadron, would be helpless.
To put it bluntly, Su Qiu was the crown prince of Eastsea City.
Gu Yue, who had rushed over afterward, silently watched everything unfold from within the crowd and added another entry to her observation journal on Su Qiu.
As evening drew near, none of them felt like continuing to have fun after what had happened, so they ended their day of relaxation and went back.
The next day's Class Promotion Tournament ended quickly as well. This time, Gu Yue did not make many moves and merely served as support. Her goal had already been achieved, so unless necessary, she could just take it easy.
After school, unlike in the Original Work, there was no incident of Guang Biao blocking the door.
In Eastsea City, Su Wuyan truly held power over everything with one hand.
Someone could be taken in one second, and Guang Biao's dismissal notice would arrive the next. If he dared make any move, he would be taken in too.
Even setting aside his identity as the Tower Master of the East Sea Spirit Pagoda, Dragon Sparrow Douluo's prestige carried weight throughout the entire Federation.
The reason Su Wuyan stayed in little Eastsea City was not only because he wanted to avoid the power struggles at Spirit Pagoda Headquarters.
The main reason was that Mu Chen was here.
Since staying anywhere was the same, Su Wuyan had voluntarily requested an assignment to Eastsea City back then, taking up a post there while keeping his good brother Mu Chen company.
Of course, Mu Chen would rather not have this kind of companionship that involved frequently mooching off the Blacksmith Association.
In Dormitory 205 that night, Xie Xie, who had won another Class Promotion Tournament, excitedly held forth before Yun Xiao and Zhou Changxi, gesturing grandly as he discussed the world.
According to him, the contestants from Class Three and Class Four were all beneath contempt, and Class Two would surely be no different.
He was already studying the opponents from Class One.
By comparison, Tang Wulin sat cross-legged on his bed, seemingly meditating and cultivating.
Yet he could not settle down.
Recently, that inexplicable power inside him had constantly been stirring, while the miserable cries of dragon roars in his mind had become increasingly frequent.
He vaguely sensed that a great secret was hidden within it, perhaps even one related to the mutation of his Blue Silver Grass Martial Soul.
In the past, Tang Wulin could enter meditation as soon as he closed his eyes. But now, his thoughts were in turmoil, and those inescapable dragon roars and screams appeared again, leaving his mind restless.
Gradually, his consciousness began to blur, and the dragon roars faded. He thought he had finally entered meditation, yet failed to notice the golden pattern stretching from the back of his neck to his tailbone quietly lighting up.
At the same time, a faint burning sensation slowly enveloped his entire body. Tang Wulin could not help trembling slightly, his brows tightly furrowed.
When he opened his eyes again, everything around him was pitch-black, as though he had fallen into boundless emptiness.
Just then, a streak of golden light pierced the darkness in the distance, dragging him closer with its dazzling radiance.
When the outline within that golden light became clear, Tang Wulin could not help sucking in a sharp breath.
It was a massive golden dragon!
Its five claws were spread wide, its entire body covered in golden scales. It had deer antlers and a serpent's body, and though it had no wings, it loomed high above.
Even the five claws beneath its belly differed from the dragons recorded on the continent, yet a thought rose from the depths of his heart: this was a dragon.
Golden light suddenly bloomed. Beneath Tang Wulin's feet appeared a floor paved with gray bricks. Looking down at himself, he found that his figure was actually illusory.
When he looked up, the endless golden dragon floated high in the sky.
Layers of clear blue halos encircled its body. That shade of blue inexplicably made him think of his Blue Silver Grass.
"You've come."
A chilly voice came from all directions, carrying an air of mystery.
Streams of golden light gathered before Tang Wulin, forming a shadowy figure whose face could not be seen.
"Who are you? Where is this? Am I dreaming?" Tang Wulin blurted out a string of questions.
"Perhaps it is a dream, or perhaps it is a part of your body." The shadowy figure spoke in riddles. "You may call me Old Tang. I am merely a remnant Divine Sense, here specifically to guide you."
Strangely, influenced by the voice, Tang Wulin's curiosity overcame his fear of the unknown. "What is that? Is it a dragon?"
"It is no ordinary dragon. It is the entirety of the Golden Dragon King's essence." The shadowy figure's words shook Tang Wulin to the core. "In a sense, it is your disaster. The Golden Dragon King's energy is far too vast. Your little body simply cannot withstand it. Once it erupts, you will die."
The word "die" struck Tang Wulin's heart like a heavy hammer. He froze for a moment before asking softly, "Will I definitely die?"
"If you do as I say, you still have a chance, though it will be difficult." Having gained the upper hand, the shadowy figure's voice calmed.
"You should have already felt its power."
"The Golden Dragon King represents the ultimate in strength." The shadowy figure's voice seemed filled with longing, yet also regret.
"Your strength exceeds that of others your age because you have been influenced by it. Back then, a powerful expert placed eighteen seals upon it, preserving your life. If you want to survive, you must break the seals one by one, digesting and absorbing its energy until you completely control it."
Absorb it?
At such close range, Tang Wulin could feel the weakness of the Blue Silver Grass within his body.
Compared to the shadowy figure whose limits he did not know, he trusted his own Martial Soul more.
"Why was such dangerous power sealed inside my body?"
"Can't it be removed?"
Apparently hearing an unexpected answer, the shadowy figure fell silent for a moment before asking, "This is supreme power. You don't want it?"
Tang Wulin did not crave power all that much now. Ever since enrolling at Eastsea Academy, he had been living happily.
Under Su Qiu's guidance, everyone in the class got along harmoniously.
His dorm mates also got along well, and every night, the four of them chatted freely about the future.
And his good friend Xie Xie treated him to meals from time to time.
The Class Promotion Tournament was also going smoothly, living up to Teacher Wu Changkong's expectations.
Since that was the case, why should Tang Wulin risk Life Danger to absorb the Golden Dragon King?
"Alas, you have no choice. If you do not advance, you will fall back." The shadowy figure saw Tang Wulin's reluctance. "If you do not find a way to absorb its power, you will eventually explode and die."
After a moment of silence.
"How do I absorb it?" Tang Wulin pressed.
"To break the first seal, you need three spiritual items: a Hundred Year Ice Crystal Fruit, a Hundred Year Red Flame Fruit, and ten drops of blood from a hundred-year Soul Beast with dragon bloodline."
The shadowy figure paused, its tone turning solemn. "Now that I have awakened, once you gather those three items and consume them together, I will help you break the seal. Remember, the speed at which you grow stronger must keep up with the rate at which the seal loosens. If you cannot break the first seal before you turn ten, even I will be unable to suppress its power."
Tang Wulin's heart tightened.
He had only a few months left before turning ten. Just as he was about to ask where he could find those things, he remembered that Soul Beasts were already nearing extinction. His voice was full of helplessness. "Soul Beasts are almost gone. Where am I supposed to find the blood of a hundred-year Soul Beast?"
Perhaps it was an illusion, but the shadowy figure seemed to sense something and glanced in a certain direction.
