Background / History

Guang was one of the nine Great Dragon Kings under the Dragon God. As the Holy Dragon King, he describes himself as having been born a god with innate dominion over light; unlike human cultivators, he never needed to study the Laws of Heaven and Earth to wield his power. He also claims to have spent much of his ancient life raising the Dragon Race while the Dragon God delegated responsibilities to the other Dragon Kings. 272 281

In the ancient era, Guang and the other Dragon Kings assisted the Dragon God in using the Ten Thousand Dragon World-Suppressing Array to anchor unstable planes, stabilize their laws, and reinforce their planar barriers. Guang remembers the array's purpose but does not know its restoration requirements, since he was responsible for labor rather than its construction. 272

By the time Su Qiu reaches Dragon Valley, Guang is severely wounded and in a deep sleep inside a space of pure light beneath the Seven-Colored Dragon Bone. He recognizes the holy aura surrounding Su Qiu as akin to his own origin and is approached as a possible source of a Soul Bone. 196

Guang ultimately chooses to become Su Qiu's Soul Spirit. His stated reasons are to protect Su Qiu, regulate the Dragon King Soul Bones within him, and ensure that he survives to witness the Dragon Race's revival. The fusion improves Su Qiu's control over the Dragon King powers in his body, while Guang takes residence in Su Qiu's Sea of Consciousness. 201 202

After becoming a Soul Spirit, Guang accompanies Su Qiu through the Star Luo and Blood God Legion arcs. He assists in combat, investigates the Blood God Array's origin, travels with Su Qiu toward the Endless Mountains, and continues to provide knowledge of the Dragon Race and its history. 206 243 262 272

In his Soul Spirit form, Guang manifests as a miniature dragon formed from warm, holy light. His small dragon body bears golden patterns, while his expressive dragon eyes and drooping tail frequently betray his irritation, embarrassment, or resignation. 202 215

Guang is immensely proud of his origin as the Holy Dragon King and readily boasts that he has been exceptional since birth. He regards his innate authority over light as fundamentally different from human cultivation, initially struggling to explain concepts he never needed to learn himself. 281

Despite his arrogance, Guang is loyal to the Dragon Race and deeply invested in its future. His choice to bind himself to Su Qiu is a deliberate gamble on Su Qiu becoming the figure who can restore the race. He is also notably protective of the Emerald Dragon King's remaining skull, reacting with panic and anger when he believes it has been damaged. 201 307
