Chakra has no rank of its own. The measurements below track Naruto's documented chakra output; volts and horsepower are reported as distinct measures.

Properties and Uses

• Physical and spiritual components: Changes in Sakura's spirit alter both the nature and quantity of her chakra. Absorbing Kurama's chakra also exposes Naruto to the negative emotions carried in its spiritual component 80 160.
• Combat: Naruto circulates chakra without hand seals, releases it as sword energy, and channels it through a blade 16 20 27.
• Healing: Naruto uses chakra and Cellular Reorganization to close Haku's stab wound. He later stimulates tissue growth in Neji's eye socket 16 99.
• Sensing and perception: Chakra can be sensed as a signature, while the Byakugan reveals chakra pathways and quantities within a person 97 210.
• Absorption and transfer: Samehada absorbs opponents' chakra. Chakra can also be sent over a distance through prepared clones, though Mei finds that supply far weaker than Naruto's 103 221.
• Natural energy: Naruto learns to draw natural energy into chakra-enhanced attacks. His ability to absorb it depends on his horsepower 109.

Limits and Risks

• High chakra output can damage a body unable to withstand it; Naruto trains his body without chakra to reduce the backlash from his stronger moves 57.
• Naruto concludes that his chakra reserves cannot grow indefinitely through cultivation alone. Further growth requires time, bloodline capacity, or an outside source 213.
