Background / History

Nuwa cultivates the Dao of Creation and wanders the Great Desolation attempting to mold earth into new life. Her early creations possess spiritual energy but lack souls, emotion, and intelligence; she considers them lifeless failures. After witnessing the vitality of the beings in Taiyuan's dream, she remains behind at Purple Firmament Palace to seek his guidance. 20

Taiyuan teaches her that living beings require a heart, including imperfection, emotions, and desires. He later splits off a wisp of his Origin Light—containing Pangu's hopes and his understanding of emotion—and gives it to Nuwa as the vital element her future creations lack. Nuwa receives it solemnly and promises never to forget the karma. 20 21

At Buzhou Mountain, Nuwa obtains the cyan Monster Summoning Gourd while Taiyuan helps secure the withered Innate Gourd Vine and Essence of Nine Heavens Breathing Soil. After the vine is remade into the Human Creation Whip, Taiyuan offers it and the Breathing Soil to Nuwa. In exchange, she agrees that Taiyuan and the Western Sect will hold the Human Race's Saint Master position and receive thirty percent of its fate and teaching merit. 29 32 33

Nuwa creates the first human at the East Sea by shaping the Essence of Nine Heavens Breathing Soil mixed with Three Lights Divine Water, then infusing it with Taiyuan's Origin Light. She uses the Human Creation Whip to create further humans from mud droplets, receiving a vast Merit Golden Cloud in response. 37

East King Duke and the Three Immortals of the Sea attempt to seize the newborn Human Race and her merit. Nuwa protects her children with the Mountain and River Diagram and refuses to surrender either the humans or the merit. 37 39
