Background / History

Nuwa and her elder brother Fuxi lived within Buzhou Mountain, near the Witch Race’s territory. She was acquainted with Houtu and the Witch Race, and opposed Fuxi’s intention to join the Demon Race, arguing that it could not protect her. Instead, she urged him to seek the Witch Race’s protection and even imagined them becoming saintly siblings. 24 29

After learning that the cushions from Hongjun’s first sermon represented potential Saint Positions, Nuwa became increasingly aware that her future status would make her a target in the coming calamities. She developed a close interest in Chu Xuan, unaware that he had planted an extra thought within her Primordial Spirit through the Heavenly Demon Great Dao. 25 61 86

Hongjun later granted Nuwa Karma Authority, enabling her to sense karmic connections. When the Hongmeng Purple Qi gave her a premonition of sainthood, she doubted that such an opportunity could be freely given to her, especially as she had neither heaven-opening merit nor extraordinary innate roots. She and Fuxi sought to investigate the matter beyond the Heavenly Dao’s reach through Pangu Hall. 124 125

Chu Xuan exploited Nuwa’s doubts about Hongjun, warning her that the Hongmeng Purple Qi could be a means of control over both her and the Primordial World’s fortune. Nuwa accepted aid from the apparent Demon Ancestor Luohu—actually Chu Xuan in disguise—to suppress the Purple Qi with a portion of the God-Slaying Spear’s origin. This prevented her from refining the Purple Qi or becoming a Saint without his consent. 134 136 138

Nuwa subsequently sought an alliance with the Witch Race to resist Hongjun’s scheme. Entering Pangu Hall, she discovered the Witch Race’s hidden strength and learned that Chu Xuan was its leader. Believing the Witch Race to be sincere allies, she revealed that Hongjun intended to use her to create the Heaven-ordained protagonist race. 147 148

When the suppression on her Hongmeng Purple Qi was withdrawn, Nuwa decisively broke through to Quasi-Saint. The Purple Qi then revealed the condition of her sainthood: she was to create the Human Race, a race occupying the “Man” share of Heaven, Earth, and Man. 181 183

At the East Sea, Nuwa created the Innate Human Race using the Innate Gourd Vine, Three Lights Divine Water, and Nine Heavens Breathing Soil. The Demon Ancestor, the Dragon, Phoenix, and Qilin races, and the Witch Race all invested in the new race, reducing the Heavenly Dao’s exclusive control over its destiny. Nuwa later attained sainthood as the Human Race’s creator. 184 185 204
