Background / History

The Human Race initially lives near the East Sea in a precarious primitive state. Humans hide in caves from disasters and are preyed upon by demonic beasts; they also consume raw food and have not yet mastered ordinary fire-making methods 18 21.

Xuan Du returns to humanity as an innate human and declares his intent to spread the Dao among them. Xuan Dan supports this effort by distributing Mysterious Sun Pills, whose benefits accelerate cultivation but cause conspicuous side effects. The pills expose humanity’s unusual potential: Nuwa created humans with fragments of the Three Thousand Great Daos’ laws, granting them Dao Bodies capable of inheriting those laws 20 21.

Suiren Shi’s insight into fire begins humanity’s civilizational rise. Under Xuan Dan’s guidance, he learns the Five Elements and teaches humans to make fire without Magic Power. You Chao Shi and Zi Yi Shi later earn Heavenly Dao Merit for developing dwellings and clothing, joining Suiren Shi as the Three Ancestors of Humanity 21 22 170.

Humanity becomes strategically valuable when the Demon Court discovers that treasures forged from human flesh and Primordial Spirits are exceptionally harmful to the Witch Clan. The threat nearly turns humans into sacrificial material for Witch-Slaying weapons, but Xuan Dan brokers a Witch Clan alliance through intermarriage. The alliance offers protection, stronger bloodlines, and the possibility of Witch descendants possessing Primordial Spirits 169 173.

The Demon Court instead adopts a transactional arrangement: humans may voluntarily provide Essence Blood and divided soul fragments in exchange for cultivation resources and advancement to Human Immortal. Combined Witch and Demon support causes a surge in human population, physical strength, and immortal cultivators, changing the race’s previously dire fate 175 178 180.

After the Prehistoric World is divided into the Heavenly, Earthly, and Living Realms, the Living Realm becomes the battleground for the Human Path. Humanity’s weak innate foundations and shortage of elite cultivators leave it vulnerable in the War of Ten Thousand Races, prompting Fuxi to make mecha technology central to defense and cultivation 316 319.

Humanity eventually survives the Spiritual Treasure Dynasty’s invasion, expands its influence after the dynasty’s collapse, and unifies the Living Realm under Fuxi. Fuxi’s declaration establishes the Human Dao and his position as Human Emperor 364 365 388.

Characteristics

Dao Bodies and Cultivation Potential

Humans are born with Dao Bodies and inherit fragments of the Three Thousand Great Daos’ laws through Nuwa’s creation. This gives them an inherent affinity with the Great Dao, though their early cultivation aptitude is considered poor compared with other races 21.

  • Their rapid reproduction supplies a large population base for cultivation and military development 173 183.
  • Witch Clan intermarriage improves physical strength and can produce bloodline atavism 180.
  • Demon Court support can raise mortals directly to Human Immortal through a complete resource-based cultivation process 178 180.
  • Their early lack of high-level combatants remains a major weakness during the War of Ten Thousand Races 319 364.

Innovation and Civil Development

Humanity’s civilization develops through practical invention as well as cultivation.

  • Fire-making — Suiren Shi seeks a method for ordinary humans to create fire without Magic Power, improving safety, food preparation, and land clearing 21 22.
  • Shelter and clothing — You Chao Shi and Zi Yi Shi create dwellings and clothing, earning Heavenly Dao Merit 170.
  • Solar technology — Suiren Shi creates a lighter and solar water heater; humanity later employs solar-powered infrastructure 223 323.
  • Medicine — Shen Nong spreads the Dao of Medicine by training physicians across human tribes, ultimately eradicating a widespread plague 442.

Mecha Compatibility

Humanity displays exceptional compatibility with mechas, which become its principal force multiplier in the Living Realm 327.

  • Mass-produced combat mechas allow even comparatively low-realm human cultivators to take the field at scale 320.
  • Mortals can operate life-use mechas for construction, transport, labor, and emergency escape 352.
  • Fuxi’s Dragon-Head Mecha, Suiren Shi’s sentient-mecha army, and Zi Yi Shi’s formations enable humanity to defeat stronger alien opponents 321 327.
  • Reliance on mechas can discourage personal cultivation; human leaders emphasize that individual cultivation remains the race’s true foundation 324 325.

Equipment / Technology

  • Mysterious Sun Pills — Alchemical pills distributed to accelerate human cultivation; known for unusual physical side effects 21.
  • True Essence Pills — Pills given to talented humans, producing major increases in power and special effects 174.
  • Subordinate Spirit Mirror — A communication and information device left with humanity by Xuan Dan 174.
  • Mass-produced combat mechas — Standardized armor and weapons used by human cultivators in the Living Realm’s wars 320 352.
  • Solar-powered tracks and trains — Infrastructure operating in the Human Ancestral Land 323.
  • Training mechas — Affordable machines used by human cultivators to improve combat ability 323.
  • Human Emperor Cannon — A powerful mecha weapon used by Fuxi against the Spiritual Treasure Dynasty 352.

Relationships

  • Nuwa — Creator and Holy Mother of the Human Race; her status as a Sage deters open extermination attempts, and she secretly protects humanity during the conflict with the Spiritual Treasure Dynasty 169 183 359.
  • Xuan Du — An innate human and senior protector who returns to spread the Dao, distributes pills, and identifies the Ren Sect’s foundation with humanity 20 170.
  • Xuan Dan — Benefactor and technological catalyst who provides pills, cultivation guidance, Spirit Mirrors, and support for humanity’s mecha development 20 174 325 327.
  • Three Ancestors of Humanity — Suiren Shi, You Chao Shi, and Zi Yi Shi serve as humanity’s early leaders, defenders, and civilizational founders 170 183.
  • Witch Clan — Strategic ally through intermarriage; provides protection and stronger bloodlines, though it initially considers humanity a potential threat 173 180.
  • Demon Court — Resource partner that purchases voluntary Essence Blood and soul fragments while training human participants to Human Immortal 175 178.
  • Fuxi — Human leader, mecha innovator, and first documented Human Emperor; he unifies the Living Realm and establishes the Human Dao 319 388.
  • Shen Nong — Later Human Emperor who establishes the Dao of Medicine and eradicates humanity’s plague 442 443.
  • Xuanyuan — Successor Human Emperor whose governance prioritizes food, housing, agriculture, and stable administration 513 515.
  • Spiritual Treasure Dynasty — Major Living Realm adversary whose invasion prompts humanity’s defensive mobilization; its collapse enables humanity’s expansion 352 364 365.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Early Survival and Civilizational Rise

Humanity begins as a vulnerable race hunted by demonic beasts. Xuan Du and Xuan Dan’s arrival introduces Dao teachings, alchemical aid, and the foundation for organized cultivation, while Suiren Shi’s pursuit of fire helps transition humans beyond primitive survival 18 20 21.

Witch-Slaying Sword Crisis

The Demon Court identifies humans as material for anti-Witch treasures. Gui Che’s investigation exposes the danger, and Xuan Dan prevents a direct Witch–Human conflict by proposing intermarriage and alliance instead 170 173.

Dual-Patron Development

Humanity accepts Witch Clan protection and Demon Court cultivation resources without committing exclusively to either side. This transforms its fate, increases its population and number of Human Immortals, and attracts hostility from surrounding races 178 180.

Struggles Against Neighboring Races

The Xuan Snake, Black Fox, and allied clans invade human territory. The Three Ancestors attempt to defend the ancestral land independently, while the Witch Clan, Demon Court, and Western Teachings all wait to exploit humanity’s desperation 183 184.

War of Ten Thousand Races

The creation of the Living Realm makes humanity a contender for the Human Path. Outclassed in innate talent and elite cultivators, it relies on mechas, formations, rapid adaptation, and Fuxi’s leadership to survive against stronger races 316 319 321.

Spiritual Treasure Dynasty War

The Spiritual Treasure Dynasty attacks humanity as part of its attempt to unify the Living Realm. Humanity uses defensive formations, mecha armies, and Fuxi’s tactical feints to resist. After the dynasty disbands, Fuxi leads a decisive counterattack against its scattered former vassals 352 353 364 365.

Establishment of the Human Dao

Fuxi unifies the Living Realm and becomes Human Emperor, causing the Human Dao to manifest and earning humanity enormous Merit and Luck. Later Human Emperors Shen Nong and Xuanyuan continue this development through medicine, governance, and integration with a parallel Human Race 388 442 515.

Trivia
