Background / History
Di Jun and Eastern Emperor Taiyi were both born as innate Three-legged Golden Crows. In contrast, their ten children were born postnatally with inferior bloodlines, motivating Di Jun to seek Xuandan's bloodline-activating Mysterious Sun Pills. 71
As Demon Emperor, Di Jun settled the Golden Crow Princes on the Sun Star, where the Solar True Fire and Fusang Tree provided an ideal cultivation environment. He later worked with Taiyi to create an immense defensive formation around the Sun Star, designed to mobilize its Solar True Fire and detect even a Sage's approach. 71 83 88
Di Jun sought rapid improvements for both his family and the Demon Court through Xuandan's pills. He gave pills to his sons despite their unpredictable effects, including transformations and changes in appearance, and used Fortune Pills to test the Demon Sages' loyalty. A failed subject was reduced to bones and ash; Di Jun warned the remaining Sages that he would personally purge anyone who let word of the trial spread. 72 82 89
He led the Demon Court's attempt to seize Hong Yun's Primordial Violet Qi, but Zhen Yuanzi and Hong Yun escaped after Xuan Du and Duobao intervened. 91 93 Di Jun later considered using Human Race bodies and Primordial Spirits to forge weapons lethal to the Witch Clan, dispatching Gui Che to investigate the plan. 169 170
Following tension with the Witch Clan and the Western Sages, Di Jun pressured the Witch Clan into a ceasefire while resolving to strengthen the Demon Court. 130 He subsequently reshaped the Demon Court's public image through the Spirit Mirror, presenting the burdens of his daily rule to attract new races and supporters. 200
Di Jun then launched a solar-energy program: the Demon Court mass-produced solar-powered Spirit Mirrors, while Di Jun, Taiyi, and the Golden Crow Princes took turns replacing the Sun Star to release energy. The project earned continuous Heavenly Dao Merit and expanded the Demon Court's influence. 239 240
After achieving sainthood, Di Jun led the Demon Court against Mount Sumeru in retaliation for the Western Teachings' attacks on his children and their designs on Taiyi's Chaos Bell. He fought Zhunti and Jieyin simultaneously with Solar True Fire, the Golden Crow Rainbow Transformation Technique, and golden imperial mecha before Hongjun halted the battle. 392 395 397
Later, when Hong Yun and Zhen Yuanzi came to settle the old debt of the Primordial Violet Qi ambush, Di Jun avoided a Saint war by greeting them with gifts, ceremony, and an invitation to discuss the Dao. 501 502 503 504
Personality
Di Jun is intensely protective of his children. Their safety repeatedly overrides military priorities: he abandons conflict to return to the Sun Star when he believes a Golden Crow child may be endangered, and he vows to destroy anyone who targets them. 83 121 His favoritism toward daughters, including children temporarily transformed by pills, causes resentment among his sons. 129
He is strategic, pragmatic, and highly conscious of the Demon Court's long-term position. He tests ministers with Fortune Pills, prioritizes the recovery of the Chaos Bell over immediate retaliation, adopts Spirit Mirror propaganda, and turns the Sun Star's energy into a source of merit and influence. 88 200 240 368
Di Jun can also be impatient, arrogant, and self-indulgent. He dismisses Taiyi's efforts when receiving pills, becomes absorbed in Spiritual Grass Cigarette Rolls and palace entertainment, and initially neglects court affairs. 82 135 136 137 Nevertheless, when administrative pressure mounts, he personally reviews the Demon Court's accumulated memorials and development reports. 169
