Arc 54Shinji’s Ascension

Shinji manipulated Obito into becoming a Ten-Tails sacrifice, then harvested Chakra Fruits to strengthen himself against the Overlords. As he coordinated plans in the Six Rings World and investigated the World Destruction Society, Orochimaru began a dangerous ritual to fuse six sacrifices into himself.

  • Obito stole the young Ten-Tails, absorbed it, and attacked Konoha, but Shinji interrupted him and defeated him in a pocket dimension.
  • Shinji revealed that he had orchestrated Obito’s path, removed his Six Tomoe Rinnegan, and sealed him, then led the Lantern Bearers as they planned how to stop the Plague Overlord.
  • Shinji defeated the World Destruction Society’s ambush and discovered that the Overlord had secretly contaminated all six members’ worlds.
  • Shinji brought Shion to the Six Rings World, where the Archmages recognized her magic talent and began preparing to build the Knowledge Tower around her Magic Ring.
  • Shinji planted Divine Trees in other worlds, sacrificed Obito, and sent a message that drew Momoshiki and Urashiki toward the Shinobi World.
  • Shinji harvested a second Chakra Fruit, consumed it, and transformed his dojutsu as he learned that Kekkei Sōra could convert all things and energy into Chakra.
  • Orochimaru began Hiruko’s dangerous ritual using six people who carried Otsutsuki Shibai’s power, but the Demon Seed attacked the site before Orochimaru resumed the fusion.
Chapters 1347–1372 Vol. 14 Read

Ch. 1347Mysterious Fortress

Delta and Ranmaru arrived at a secret mountain fortress to reinforce its guards and discovered it was holding the Ten-Tails. Their new shift was underway when a masked figure in an Akatsuki Organization cloak attacked the squad.

  • Delta and Ranmaru brought failed cell-transplant subjects to the hidden fortress on orders to take over its internal guard shift.
  • Yakumo verified their orders and assigned the squad to guard the fortress's interior.
  • A growl from deep within the fortress revealed to Delta and Ranmaru that the stronghold contained the Ten-Tails.
  • Delta and Ranmaru worried that the failed test subjects might cause trouble near the beast's cage.
  • A masked figure in an Akatsuki Organization Red Cloud outfit appeared and tore apart a squad member, prompting the guards to raise the alarm.

Ch. 1348Tell Him My Era Has Arrived!

Obito attacked the fortress holding the Small Ten-Tails, defeated its guards, and used his Six Tomoe Rinnegan to free the beast. He escaped with the Ten-Tails after warning Yakumo and the others to tell Shinji that his era had arrived.

  • Obito invaded the hidden fortress and defeated four defective test subjects before catching Ranmaru's invisible attack.
  • Obito used Banshō Ten'in to seize Delta, then killed her with Kamui when the Ten-Tails roared from its cell.
  • Obito reached the cell with Ranmaru and used Shinra Tensei to knock him aside.
  • Obito destroyed the Ten-Tails' restraints with Kamui and freed it.
  • Yakumo arrived with reinforcements, but Obito declared that his era had arrived and escaped with the Ten-Tails using Kamui.

Ch. 1349Sealing the Ten-Tails

Obito escaped with the young Ten-Tails and took it to a deserted island to attempt to seal it inside himself. Shinji watched the attempt from afar, waiting to see whether Obito would reach the Six Paths level.

  • Yakumo failed to track Obito after he stole the young Ten-Tails from the hidden fortress, while Shinji watched and Amado realized Shinji knew what had happened.
  • Obito met White Zetsu in the Land of Hot Water, then decided to take the young Ten-Tails out to sea to avoid Shinji and the Akatsuki Organization.
  • A week later, Obito arrived at an uninhabited island, where the young Ten-Tails emerged from the sea and obediently followed him.
  • Obito formed a contract with the young Ten-Tails using his Six Tomoe Rinnegan and began a Sealing Technique as White Zetsu and Shinji watched.

Ch. 1350I Succeeded!

Obito successfully sealed the young Ten-Tails and became a Ten-Tails Jinchuriki, then set his sights on Naruto's Nine-Tails. He appeared over Konoha, where Kakashi, Asuma, and Kurenai recognized him as a powerful threat.

  • Obito endured the Ten-Tails' resistance and pain until he absorbed it and awakened as an Otsutsuki.
  • Obito told White Zetsu that he planned to take the Nine-Tails from Naruto and flew toward Konoha.
  • Kakashi, Asuma, and Kurenai discussed the Akatsuki's captured prisoners and Konoha's lack of missions.
  • Obito appeared above Konoha with nine Truth-Seeking Orbs, and the gathered ninja and villagers looked up at him.

Ch. 1351Make Konoha a Thing of the Past!

Obito attacked Konoha and demanded that the village hand over Naruto, but Jiraiya and the elders told him Naruto had already been taken by 'A'. The chapter left Obito poised to continue his assault after flattening much of the village.

  • Obito recalled his past with Kakashi and resolved to create the Infinite Tsukuyomi before confronting him in Konoha.
  • Kakashi, Kurenai, and Asuma attacked Obito, but he emerged unharmed and demanded Naruto's location.
  • Kakashi refused to reveal Naruto's whereabouts, and Jiraiya arrived with ANBU to confirm that 'A' had taken Naruto.
  • Obito unleashed Shinra Tensei, flattening a dozen districts and burying Konoha's defenders beneath the rubble.
  • Utatane Koharu and Mitokado Homura told Obito that Naruto had been hidden at Mount Myōboku before 'A' took him away.

Ch. 1352The Same Level?

Obito attacked Konoha, convinced Naruto would appear if he destroyed the village, but Shinji arrived and stopped him. Shinji took Obito to a pocket dimension, where Obito declared they were now equals and challenged him to a fair fight.

  • Obito prepared to destroy Konoha with a powerful Shinra Tensei, while Jiraiya urged the villagers and ninja to flee.
  • Shinji appeared, stopped Obito's attack, and slammed him into the ground before taking him through a Space Gate.
  • ANBU began rescuing the wounded as Jiraiya struggled to understand how Shinji had subdued Obito.
  • Shinji brought Obito to a deserted pocket dimension, where Obito's Spiral Mask shattered and he retreated.
  • Obito flew up with his black staff and claimed he and Shinji were on the same level, but Shinji knew his own power and Dojutsu were far greater.

Ch. 1353Heavenly Goad!

Shinji overwhelmed Obito despite his perfect Susanoo and Heavenly Goad, then battered him into defeat. Obito lay on the ground wondering why he had lost.

  • Obito activated his perfect Susanoo and challenged Shinji, but Shinji broke through it with a flying kick and sent him crashing into a crater.
  • Obito formed the Heavenly Goad from his Truth-Seeking Orbs and unleashed a slash that carved a vast canyon.
  • Shinji countered with Golden Wheel Reincarnation Explosion and broke the Heavenly Goad in a single clash.
  • Shinji punched Obito out of the sky and followed with a rapid assault, leaving him sprawled on the ground and questioning his defeat.

Ch. 1354The Manipulated Fate

Shinji captured Obito after blocking his Kamui and taking his Six Tomoe Rinnegan. He revealed that Obito’s escape, transformation, and new powers had all been orchestrated by him, leaving Obito to realize that Shinji had manipulated him rather than fate.

  • Shinji stopped Obito’s Kamui with Heavenly Rock Door and defeated him when Obito tried to fight back.
  • Shinji sealed Obito, pinned him with Black Rods, and removed his Six Tomoe Rinnegan, though he could not yet reclaim the Ten-Tails.
  • Obito asked whether Shinji would kill him, and Shinji told him that his escape had not been an accident.
  • Shinji revealed that he had staged the Research Institute experiments, arranged White Zetsu’s guidance, and placed the Sharingan and Sasuke Uchiha’s Chakra where Obito would find them.
  • Shinji said he had also arranged Obito’s Six Tomoe Rinnegan, and told him, “I didn’t manipulate fate. I only manipulated you.”

Ch. 1355Six Rings World!

Months after recovering, Shinji returned to find the seal holding part of the Breeding Overlord’s body close to collapse. He destroyed and recreated the seal, then accepted leadership of Alice’s growing Lantern Bearer team.

  • Shinji discovered that the Breeding Overlord’s power had corroded the core of his Planetary Devastation, and Alice explained that her team had installed a gravity device and monitoring satellites around it.
  • Shinji ordered Alice and the satellites to retreat, then used Shinra Tensei to shatter the failing celestial body and free the sealed part of the Breeding Overlord.
  • When the freed body lunged at him, Shinji created a new Planetary Devastation and sealed it again, while the debris from the gravity device was absorbed into the new body.
  • Alice introduced Shinji to the Lantern Bearers Gladiator and Phantom, explaining that his strength had inspired more people to join their fight against the Overlords.
  • Alice and Hengo asked Shinji to become their captain, and he agreed.

Ch. 1356Find Another Archmage!

Shinji met with the 'Lantern Bearers' to discuss the ongoing Plague Overlord invasion and plans to stop it. He said he could bring in another Archmage, leaving the group stunned as they were told to find a Magic Tower.

  • Alice and 'Arcane' reported that the Breeding Overlord's invasion had stopped, while the Plague Overlord's invasion was accelerating and had produced more than a dozen Contaminated Zones.
  • Alice presented Plan A, which involved luring the Plague Overlord into the 'Six Rings World' so Shinji could defeat and seal it, and Plan B, which would also release the sealed Breeding Overlord to fight it.
  • Hengo and 'Arcane' worried that a battle between the Overlords would destroy the weakened 'Six Rings World,' while 'Ghost' said the group first needed a way to lure the Plague Overlord inside.
  • Shinji said he could provoke the Plague Overlord and recommended advancing both plans until they could judge the situation.
  • Shinji told the 'Lantern Bearers' he could find another Archmage to help, but they would have to find the Magic Tower themselves.

Ch. 1357The World Destruction Society

Shinji arranged for Shion to come to the Six Rings World as a temporary Archmage, then learned that the World Destruction Society might be connected to the Overlord. He decided to meet its member Battle Axe himself and investigate, while Alice and Hengo stayed behind to protect the Six Rings World.

  • Shinji told Arcane that Shion could fill the vacancy left by the Storm Archmage, and Arcane began planning her arrival and Magic Tower.
  • The Lantern Bearers decided to proceed with Plans A and B at the same time.
  • Alice and Hengo brought Ghost to Shinji, and Ghost said Battle Axe had claimed the World Destruction Society could protect its members from the Overlord and had destroyed a world.
  • Alice and Hengo described the Society’s history as the Pirate Group and its attacks on Lantern Bearers, raising concern that it might be helping the Overlord find worlds to destroy.
  • Shinji asked Alice to arrange a meeting with Battle Axe and told her and Hengo to remain in the Six Rings World while he investigated.

Ch. 1358The Shattered Lantern

Shinji confronted the World Destruction Society’s ambush alone, shattered Battle Axe’s lantern, and put him under genjutsu. The Society’s traps struck Shinji, but a voice spoke from behind its members as the chapter ended.

  • Battle Axe and the World Destruction Society’s Black Robe Leader prepared an ambush for Alice’s group, relying on support from a powerful being.
  • Ghost arrived with Shinji, then left after Shinji ordered him to go.
  • Shinji rushed Battle Axe, crushed his lantern, absorbed its Embers, and trapped him in genjutsu.
  • Shinji called the Society’s hidden members out, and the Black Robe Leader ordered them to attack.
  • The Society triggered its traps against Shinji, but a voice behind them asked what they were hoping for.

Ch. 1359Suicide Pact!

Shinji swiftly defeated the World Destruction Society members and absorbed the Embers from their lamps. Cornered, the Black Robe Leader vowed to take Shinji down with him.

  • Shinji crushed one World Destruction Society member’s lamp and pinned him with Black Rods.
  • Shinji used genjutsu to make another member’s lamp appear, crushed it, and absorbed Embers from the captured lamps.
  • Shinji’s lamp grew larger and brighter after absorbing the Embers.
  • Two members tried to escape through a Space Rift, but Shinji’s Shadow Clones crushed their lamps and pinned them down.
  • After absorbing more Embers, Shinji turned toward the Black Robe Leader, who snarled that they would die together.

Ch. 1360Backed Down!

Shinji confronted the Overlord summoned by the World Destruction Society and drove it to retreat from the world's barrier. He then stopped the Black Robe Leader from escaping and seized him.

  • The Black Robe Leader crushed a dark purple crystal, releasing the power of an Overlord, and Shinji sent the five captured Society members into Kamui Space.
  • A vortex opened in the sky as the Black Robe Leader worshiped his lord, and Shinji flew up to meet the emerging Overlord with his Golden Wheel Reincarnation Explosion.
  • Shinji taunted the Overlord and held his ground, but the Overlord withdrew from the vortex rather than fight inside the world's space barrier.
  • Shinji returned to the ground and used Heavenly Rock Door to block the Black Robe Leader's escape.
  • Shinji grabbed the Black Robe Leader by the neck and said he would not let any of the Overlord's followers escape.

Ch. 1361A Sin of Their Own Making

Shinji exposed the Black Robe Leader’s lies, learned that the World Destruction Society had been wiped out, and investigated the six members’ worlds after their Lanterns were destroyed. He found one world peaceful, then discovered the Black Robe Leader’s world was being invaded by the same Overlord he had recently encountered.

  • Shinji crushed the Black Robe Leader’s Lantern, pulled out his Spirit Body, and read his memories, learning that all the Society’s members had joined the ambush.
  • Shinji brought the other five Society members out of Kamui Space and realized the Overlord could now devour their worlds.
  • Shinji pulled the remaining five members’ souls from their bodies and learned their worlds held little power or treasure worth taking.
  • Shinji used the members’ Lanterns and memories to locate their worlds, finding one that appeared peaceful.
  • Shinji found the Black Robe Leader’s world under attack by the same Overlord he had recently encountered.

Ch. 1362Upgraded Tiger's-Mouth Heist!

Shinji discovered that the Overlord had secretly contaminated the Black Robe Leader’s world and was rapidly corrupting it, so he planted a Divine Tree to take its planetary energy before the world was destroyed. He concluded that the Overlord had targeted all six World Destruction Society members’ worlds and began planning to steal from them before the Overlord could devour them.

  • Shinji realized the Overlord’s corruption had accelerated because it had contaminated the Black Robe Leader’s world in advance, and he killed the Black Robe Leader.
  • Shinji surveyed the world and found it had only a year or two left, then planted his Ten-Tails as a Divine Tree in a remote forest.
  • Shinji determined that the Overlord had secretly contaminated all six World Destruction Society members’ worlds and would devour them once they were no longer useful.
  • Shinji numbered the worlds and planned to drain World One first, then use Obito and a second Ten-Tails to harvest two worlds at a time.
  • Shinji recognized that he lacked enough sacrifices but set that problem aside to focus on curbing the Overlord’s growth.

Ch. 1363Demonstrating Magic

Shinji brought Shion to the Six Rings World to help fight the Overlords, receive guidance from the Archmages, and advance her Magic Ring training. At the Wisdom Tower, Shion demonstrated her magic and astonished Arcane with her ability to maintain eight magic arrays.

  • Shinji reviewed Shion's training logs and told her to prepare to fight the Plague Overlord, with the Breeding Overlord possibly joining the battle.
  • Shinji opened a Space Rift with his Lamp and took Shion to the Six Rings World, where he led her to the Wisdom Tower.
  • Arcane greeted Shinji and questioned whether young Shion was the mage Shinji had mentioned.
  • Twilight Star asked Shion to demonstrate her abilities, and she formed eight layers of magic arrays above her head.
  • Arcane was shocked by Shion's skill, which ranked just below that of the Six Rings World's five Archmages.

Ch. 1364The Goddess Descends

Shion demonstrated her power to Twilight Star Archmage and "Arcane," combining eight magic circles into a prototype Magic Ring while in Miko Chakra Mode. Shinji left her to train with Twilight Star Archmage, then agreed that the Six Rings World could reclaim the Magic Tower after the battle and turned his attention back to the coming fight against the Overlord.

  • Shion activated Miko Chakra Mode and fused eight magic circles into a prototype Magic Ring, astonishing Twilight Star Archmage and "Arcane."
  • "Arcane" apologized for doubting Shion, and Shinji asked Twilight Star Archmage to help her master a proper Magic Ring.
  • Shion promised Shinji she would focus on her training and asked him to tell Karin and Kō to work harder so she could beat them fairly.
  • "Arcane" told Shinji that the Archmages wanted to rebuild the Knowledge Tower, and Shinji agreed that Shion would not keep the Magic Tower after the crisis.
  • "Arcane" explained that the Archmages would gather materials to build the Knowledge Tower around Shion's Magic Ring, while Shinji focused on taking what they needed from the Overlord.

Ch. 1365How to Contact the Otsutsuki

Shinji heard that the Research Institute planned to test whether raising Chakra to its limit could reproduce divine techniques, with Orochimaru volunteering as the test subject. Amado then uncovered a possible way to contact the Otsutsuki through the Divine Tree, and Shinji confirmed that it could communicate with other Divine Trees.

  • Amado and Orochimaru told Shinji that the Research Institute had formed a team led by Hiruko to investigate reproducing divine techniques by raising Chakra to its limit.
  • Orochimaru volunteered to undergo the dangerous experiment, and Shinji allowed him to prepare despite his unease.
  • Amado reported that Ōtsutsuki Isshiki had installed a perception-blocking barrier around the little Ten-Tails more than a hundred years ago, suggesting he had feared other Otsutsuki might detect it.
  • Shinji agreed with Amado that the Divine Tree might provide a way to contact other Otsutsuki and went to World No. 1 to investigate.
  • Shinji confirmed that the Divine Tree could communicate with other Divine Trees, giving him a potential way to reach their Otsutsuki planters.

Ch. 1366Baiting the Hook!

Shinji returned to the Shinobi World with enough planetary energy to grow a Chakra Fruit and sacrificed Obito to his Divine Tree. As the fruit began to ripen, Shinji used the Divine Tree to send a message to other Divine Trees across the universe, hoping to lure Otsutsuki to the Shinobi World.

  • Shinji waited on the Divine Tree in World 1 until it had absorbed enough planetary energy to nourish a Chakra Fruit, then returned to the Shinobi World.
  • Shinji planted the Ten-Tails as a Divine Tree in a remote mountain and released Obito from Daikokuten.
  • Shinji explained that he had manipulated Obito into becoming a suitable sacrifice for the Divine Tree and revealed that he had already sacrificed Isshiki and eaten a Chakra Fruit.
  • Shinji pulled the small Ten-Tails out of Obito and prepared to sacrifice him; Obito accepted defeat and said he believed Shinji wanted to protect the Shinobi World.
  • Shinji sacrificed Obito to the Divine Tree, then used the fruit's impending ripeness to send a message to other Divine Trees in the universe.

Ch. 1368Messages Across the Stars

Momoshiki and Urashiki received a message from the Shinobi World about a nearly ripened Chakra Fruit and set out to claim it. Shinji watched the Divine Tree’s flower bud, which was close to producing the fruit.

  • Momoshiki learned that Kaguya had betrayed Isshiki, taken a Chakra Fruit, and been sealed, while Isshiki survived through Karma.
  • Momoshiki reasoned that Isshiki’s Divine Tree had sent the message on its own and decided to head for the Shinobi World with Kinshiki.
  • Momoshiki refused to notify Urashiki, fearing his rival would seize the Chakra Fruit first.
  • Urashiki also received the message and prepared to travel to the Shinobi World for the fruit.
  • Shinji looked up at the sky after sending the message, then sensed that the Divine Tree’s bud was about to bloom.

Ch. 1369The Second Chakra Fruit

Shinji weighed whether to use the newly matured Chakra Fruit himself or empower Karin or Hikaru, then chose to consume it himself to keep his strength growing against the Overlord. After harvesting it, he plundered planetary energy in the doomed World 1 and escaped just before the Overlord destroyed the world, heading for World 2.

  • Shinji decided to use the second Chakra Fruit himself because he needed to keep increasing his power to face the Overlord.
  • Three days later, the Chakra Fruit matured, and Shinji harvested it before storing the Divine Tree and leaving.
  • Shinji arrived in World 1, found it near destruction, and planted the Divine Tree to drain its planetary energy.
  • The Overlord detected Shinji's interference and attacked, so Shinji withdrew the Divine Tree and escaped through a Space Rift.
  • The Overlord destroyed World 1, while Shinji traveled directly to World 2 with the energy his Divine Tree had absorbed.

Ch. 1370Bloodline Genesis

After guarding World No. 2 and deciding to target only worlds the Overlord corrupted, Shinji ate a second Chakra Fruit and absorbed its energy. He discovered that the fruit could carry someone beyond Kekkei Mōra to Kekkei Sōra, a level that let its user turn all things and forms of energy into Chakra.

  • Shinji surveyed World No. 2 and decided to leave it and the other remaining worlds untouched unless the Overlord attacked them.
  • Shinji used the Lamp to cleanse himself, then swallowed the second Chakra Fruit.
  • Shinji spent the night absorbing the fruit's energy and realized that the first fruit had left some Chakra undigested.
  • Shinji's Dojutsu grew stronger as his Six Tomoe Rinnegan turned red and his forehead's Nine Tomoe Rinnegan turned deep purple.
  • Shinji learned that Kekkei Sōra surpassed Kekkei Mōra by converting all things and forms of energy into Chakra.

Ch. 1371Ten-Fold Fusion Ritual

Shinji realized that reaching the Kekkei Sōra might let him absorb a Chakra Fruit without waste, but he needed at least five fruits and lacked enough Otsutsuki sacrifices. Meanwhile, Orochimaru prepared to undergo a deadly fusion ritual designed to produce chakra powerful enough to wield divine techniques.

  • Shinji considered how becoming a Kekkei Sōra resembled becoming an overlord, then concluded that power itself was not evil and resolved to proceed one step at a time.
  • Shinji left World No. 2 and returned to the Shinobi World, where Hiruko warned Orochimaru that the ritual could kill him.
  • Hiruko explained to Ranmaru that the ritual's extreme intensity was needed to fuse chakra strong enough to support divine techniques.
  • The Research Institute completed preparations for the ritual and waited for the aurora that would signal its start.
  • Orochimaru sat at the ritual's center, surrounded by six test subjects who had inherited Otsutsuki Shibai's power and together supplied the seven chakra attributes.

Ch. 1372The Ritual Begins

Orochimaru began the Bloodline Fusion Ritual beneath an aurora, using the Demon Seed to absorb six sacrifices and fuse them into his body. After the ritual site was damaged and repaired, the process resumed, and a bulky figure emerged from the smoke as everyone awaited the result.

  • Hiruko predicted the aurora, and Orochimaru prepared to begin the ritual while Kabuto Yakushi worried about its risks.
  • Yakumo and Haku watched from a distant peak, with Yakumo warning that Orochimaru and Hiruko needed to be monitored.
  • Orochimaru activated the Chimera Technique at the aurora’s peak, unleashing the Demon Seed toward the six sacrifices.
  • The Demon Seed damaged the ritual site and attacked the researchers, but Kabuto Yakushi, Ranmaru, and Delta rescued them.
  • Orochimaru pulled the Demon Seed back and held it at bay while the researchers repaired the ritual site.
  • With the ritual restored, Orochimaru resumed fusing the six sacrifices into himself, and a grotesque figure appeared in the rising smoke.
