Barte Lei was a warrior who restored his formerly declining family to nobility through military achievements. By the time Lei Wen chose the warrior's path, Barte Lei was already a Ninth-Rank Warrior and the head of Bart's Manor in Flowing Frost City. 3 26 29

When Lei Wen rejected magic academy recruitment, Barte Lei listened to his reasoning rather than forcing a decision. He endorsed Lei Wen's ambition to become a warrior, warned him that the path would involve broken bones and torn flesh, then personally oversaw his early physical training. 2 3
