Background / History
Lian Qiu was raised in the Barte Lei family alongside Lei Wen. As a child, she feared failing her magic-talent test, but her family reassured her before she demonstrated top-class Water elemental affinity and Divine Power seventeen times that of an ordinary person 7.
She left home to attend Moria Magic Academy, where she advanced from a water magic apprentice into a capable mage. During her studies, she repeatedly rejected Moen’s unwanted pursuit, refusing both his gifts and advances 10 12 27. Lei Wen later returned to the academy twice to protect her from those who bullied or harassed her, including Moen and Doge Bart 12 28.
As an adult, Lian Qiu refused her mother’s efforts to arrange a marriage. She considered longevity and cultivation more valuable than marrying a talented but mortal suitor, declaring her aim to become a Saint Domain expert 44. Her progress continued through the ninth rank, Saint Domain, and eventually independent godhood through comprehension of Water Element mysteries 47 94 111.
After becoming a god, she grew dissatisfied with a sheltered life and insisted on travelling to the higher planes despite her family’s fears. Lei Wen ultimately arranged protection for her: she became the Demon King’s subordinate, received the divine artifact known as the Hag, and was sent toward Annia’s Underworld 130 132 133.
In Hell, Lian Qiu faced bandits on her first independent journey, relying on Water divine power and the artifacts provided by Lei Wen. She later aided Lin Lei, Zan, and Delia against powerful enemies, using Sovereign artifacts and Sovereign power to turn the battle in their favor 134 136. Her connection to the Lord of Redbud Prefecture subsequently forced the Four Divine Beasts Clan to treat her with deference 140 141.
Appearance
Lian Qiu is depicted as a graceful water-affinity mage whose appearance changes noticeably as she matures, from a nervous young child to a poised divine practitioner 7 94.
- As a child, she wore a pale dress and two braids; she had large, watery eyes and chubby hands 7.
- At Moria Academy, she wore light-blue mage robes and kept golden hair in a ponytail 12.
- Later depictions give her long water-blue or aqua-blue hair, fair skin, and a cool, noble aura 47 94.
- Her amber eyes are noted during her confrontation at Skyrite Mountains 140.
- She has been described in pale aqua gowns, dark-blue mage robes, white robes, and other refined clothing appropriate to her status 47 94 144.
Personality
Lian Qiu is affectionate and openly attached to her family, especially Lei Wen. She eagerly reunites with him after long absences and is willing to voice anger over being left behind 28 95 111.
She is also proud, ambitious, and resistant to being controlled. She rejects marriage prospects she considers weak, prefers cultivation and combat to idle noble life, and refuses to accept humiliation from the Four Divine Beasts Clan’s guards and elders 31 44 130 140.
Though initially inexperienced outside her home region, Lian Qiu seeks danger deliberately because she does not want to remain protected forever. Her intervention to save Lin Lei’s party shows both courage and a willingness to aid others in immediate danger 134 136.
