Background / History

Li Xuan awakens in a ruined temple as an injured, feverish refugee possessing both the memories of a modern programmer and those of his current life. He discovers a status panel that can track his attributes, cultivation methods, and Potential—the resource he comes to rely on for survival. 1

Forced to meet labor quotas under Zhang the Cripple's refugee group, Li Xuan learns that killing beasts and performing precise physical labor can generate Potential. He enters Black Stone City's Iron Fist martial arts school as a handyman, using woodcutting, water-carrying, and stolen observations of martial instruction to improve himself. 2 5 7

His rapid progress makes him a target. Li Xuan defeats Liu San, exposes the theft of his Body Tempering Powder, joins the Shadow Guard as Number Seventy-Nine, and survives repeated schemes by Zhou Peng and Wu Ming. He kills Wu Ming during a Shadow Guard operation, then chooses the dangerous Northern Territory trial over immediate admission into Crimson Firmament Sect. 11 12 15 16

In the Northern Territory, Li Xuan becomes a battlefield combatant and leader. He survives Zhao Wuji's betrayal, cultivates the Blood Fiend Bone Forging Technique through warfare, kills Tuoba Shan and Elder Zhao, holds back three thousand cavalry, and helps defend Iron Wall City. His actions against Wanyan Lie and Wanyan Xiong establish his reputation among Crimson Firmament Sect's elders. 18 22 23 25 29

After passing Crimson Firmament Sect's trials, Li Xuan becomes an inner disciple. He leads missions into the abandoned mine and Northern Territory, confronts the Wolf Soul imprint and the Shaman King Gurqin, and develops a fusion of blood-fiend and pure-yang power. Following Gurqin's defeat, the Elder Council promotes him to true disciple and warns him that the far more dangerous first Shaman, Return to Void, remains sealed beneath the Black Abyss. 30 44 48 52

Personality

Li Xuan is intensely pragmatic and observant. He studies opponents' physical weaknesses, hides the true extent of his abilities when useful, and makes tactical decisions based on survival rather than pride. His early victory over Liu San is based on reading the handyman's stance, injuries, and likely attributes before committing to a decisive strike. 8 9

He is unwilling to submit to extortion or intimidation, but does not seek conflict without purpose. When Zhou Peng's allies target him, Li Xuan prioritizes becoming strong enough that schemes against him become impossible rather than relying on protection from others. 11 12

Li Xuan accepts extreme personal risk when he believes it is necessary. He uses forbidden pills and even burns his lifespan to protect allies and stop enemy forces, viewing survival without strength as insufficient. 18 23

Abilities & Skills

Status Panel

Li Xuan's status panel records his attributes, cultivation methods, mastery, and Potential. It can analyze observed martial movements and allows him to directly improve attributes or cultivation mastery through accumulated Potential. 1 7

  • Gains Potential by killing beasts and enemies, including a rock mouse, Ironhide Pig, Stone Wolf, and battlefield opponents. 2 10 23 48
  • Gains small amounts of Potential through refined labor, such as precise axe swings and water-carrying integrated with cultivation. 5 6 7
  • Can spend Potential to increase physical attributes, repair injuries, and accelerate cultivation-method mastery. 7 18
  • Direct upgrades are rapid but initially superficial compared with cultivating through practice and experience. 7

Blood Fiend Bone Forging Technique

A barbarian body-refining art that tempers Li Xuan's bones through slaughter, battlefield malevolent energy, and accumulated blood energy. 20 21

  • Strengthens bones, physical force, endurance, and resistance to weapons. 20 23
  • Produces Blood Fiend Qi at the third layer, allowing qi to protect his body and empower attacks. 24
  • Evolves his physique into the Blood Fiend Diamond Body, marked by golden-glowing bones and accelerated recovery. 29 44
  • Progress is hindered in peaceful environments lacking battlefield malevolent energy. 31

Mountain Suppressing Art

An earth-attribute body-tempering method selected for its defensive potential rather than speed of cultivation. 31

  • Builds abundant vital energy and blood, reinforced sinews and bones, and powerful defensive stability. 31
  • Immovable as a Mountain can deflect fifty percent of impact while standing firm. 33
  • Rooted further increases impact resistance after circulating energy in place for three breaths. 33

Red Sun Scripture and Crimson Blood True Gang Qi

Li Xuan cultivates the Red Sun Scripture alongside his blood-fiend power, creating a preliminary Yin-Yang Harmony between Crimson Sun True Qi and Blood Fiend Gang Qi. 44

  • Uses crimson-gold flame and pure-yang power to destroy Gurqin's clone. 44
  • Refines the Wolf Soul mark with the Red Sun Scripture and a Pure Yang Stone. 44
  • Crimson Blood True Gang Qi manifests as crimson-gold and blood-red chains. 48 53
  • At Minor Mastery, he can form four chains up to five chi long with a single thought. 53

Saber Combat and Battlefield Tactics

Li Xuan specializes in practical, lethal combat built on observation, timing, and exploitation of weak points rather than formal sparring alone. 10 14 30

  • Killed an Ironhide Pig by striking through the vulnerable point in its ear. 10
  • Uses the incomplete Blade Breaking Saber Technique and Shadow Step in high-risk combat. 13 15
  • Defeated True Qi Realm inner disciple Zhao Yuanchen in three moves by reading his sword paths with Spirit Soul perception. 30
  • Led infiltration and defensive forces during the Black Wind Valley raid and the siege of Iron Wall City. 21 25

Soul-Based Techniques

After absorbing a Wolf Soul, Li Xuan's Spirit attribute and soul-based combat potential increase substantially. 25

  • Devours the attacking Wolf Soul rather than being overwhelmed by it. 25
  • Acquires Soul Shock, which he uses to kill the Barbarian Great Shaman. 25
  • The residual Wolf Soul imprint can become restless and threaten backlash if left unrefined. 29 44

Emergency Enhancement Arts

Li Xuan uses dangerous temporary enhancements when normal strength is insufficient.

  • Blood Burst Pill — doubles his strength for roughly an incense stick's duration, followed by several days of weakness. 15
  • Blood Burning Pill — temporarily raises him to Body Forging Layer Eight during his fight with Wanyan Lie. 18
  • Life Burning Art — burns lifespan for overwhelming power; using it against three thousand cavalry costs him ten years of life and causes severe meridian damage. 23 24

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Black Scale Saber — black, narrow-bladed saber provided by the Iron Fist martial arts school for the Northern Territory trial. 16
  • Crimson Firmament Sword — sword used during his Crimson Firmament Sect combat assessment and later temporarily lent by Yun Qingxuan. 30 33
  • Blood Wolf Saber — later personal saber, damaged through repeated combat and maintained by Li Xuan. 52 53
  • Python Scale Armor — chest armor worn during the Northern Territory mission against Gurqin. 50
  • Shadow Guard token — identifies him as Number Seventy-Nine and grants access to Shadow Guard missions and resources. 12
  • Earth Vein Fiend Stone — rare black stone fused into his cultivation to advance both the Blood Fiend Bone Forging Technique and Mountain Suppressing Art. 32 33
  • Return to Void Secret Record fragment — Qin Lie's fragment concerning the first Shaman's origins and weakness. 52
