Background / History

Chen Feng first appears as one of the Iron Fist Martial Arts School disciples assigned to gather Iron Bone Grass in the Trial Forest. Unlike Zhou Peng, he recognizes Li Xuan's precise one-strike kill of an Ironhide Pig and quietly praises his spearwork; he later reports the feat to Wu Ming. 10

He joins Ying Qi's team in the hunt for Wu Ming and checks on Li Xuan after the latter kills the instructor. 15 After Li Xuan earns a place in the Northern Territory trial, Chen Feng visits him with wine and gives him his father's written insights into the Iron Bone Skill, explaining that he can no longer cultivate it himself. 16

Chen Feng travels north alongside Li Xuan, Zhao Wuji, Sun Wu, and Liu Qingqing. During the Black Wind Bandits' ambush, he intercepts a Body Tempering Layer Seven opponent's saber strike to protect the wounded Li Xuan, sustaining internal injuries. 17

At Wolf Fang Pass, Chen Feng serves as the night raid's scout, assesses the barbarian patrol pattern, and fights with a short crossbow and short sword. When Zhao Wuji betrays Li Xuan, Chen Feng ambushes Wanyan Lie with crossbow bolts, holds back barbarian soldiers, and carries Li Xuan out after the Blood Burning Pill's backlash leaves him unable to stand. 18

He continues supporting Li Xuan at Iron Wall City, including leading cavalry to extract him after the vanguard charge. 19 During the city's final defense, he commands the left flank and later leads the evacuation on Li Xuan's order, despite having lost his left arm below the elbow. 27 28

By the time Li Xuan returns from seclusion, Chen Feng has entered the Crimson Firmament Sect's outer sect and serves as a steward guiding new disciples. He credits Li Xuan's Body Tempering Pills and the evidence against Elder Zhao for helping him enter the sect. 53

Appearance

Chen Feng is initially presented as a young, stern-faced disciple. By his later appearance at Crimson Firmament Peak, he has gained some weight and has a rounder face. 10 53

Personality

His defining trait is loyalty under pressure. He repeatedly places himself between Li Xuan and stronger enemies, refuses to abandon him during the Wolf Fang raid, and remains emotionally affected when Li Xuan orders him to evacuate Iron Wall City. 17 18 24
