Shadow Ghost Pursuit

While fleeing Shadow Ghosts, Meng Ran Nian is repeatedly injured when the ghosts target those moving too quickly. He witnesses Bo Shuo effortlessly evade attacks and recognizes him as a genuine “Big Shot.” 179

Joining Bo Shuo

Meng Ran Nian follows his talent's premonition and asks to trail behind Bo Shuo. He consciously keeps a respectful distance after receiving Bo Shuo's indifferent acceptance. 195

During the patrol, he immediately resets the clock to the time Bo Shuo identifies as correct. This earns Bo Shuo's amusement but makes Yu Zhou view him as a competitor. 199

Slaughterhouse Investigation

Meng Ran Nian supports Bo Shuo's investigation of the Slaughterhouse, warns the group after severely injuring himself with his skill, and helps fend off the Dog creature while the group escapes worsening corruption. 209 210

He rescues the still-living Zhang Xiong, later restrains him and identifies his blackening work badge as evidence that consuming human flesh only temporarily suppresses corruption. 223 225

Faction War and Escape

Meng Ran Nian assists Bo Shuo in searching West Zhou, though he cannot enter the hidden orphanage that only opens when Bo Shuo is alone. 234

When Bo Shuo's conflict with Wen Yanqing appears hopeless, Meng Ran Nian urges Yu Zhou to use his amplification talent on Bo Shuo, only to learn that Yu Zhou has never successfully triggered its supposed 90% success rate. 243
