History

Third Great Ninja War

In Konoha 42, the village was already three years into the Third Great Ninja War. Its forces were depleted after fighting on multiple fronts; the White Fang had died by suicide, Tsunade had left the village, and Orochimaru had become increasingly preoccupied with human experimentation. Minato Namikaze emerged as Konoha's crucial high-end combatant during this period. 2 4

Konoha ultimately secured victory over Sunagakure and Iwagakure. It returned the One-Tail Jinchūriki to Sunagakure in exchange for 20% of that village's future mission fees, while retaining the Four-Tails and Five-Tails Jinchūriki as leverage during negotiations with Iwagakure. 129

Uchiha Alienation and Reform

The Uchiha Clan's control of the Police Force became a major source of tension within Konoha. The force controlled the village prison and operated with little external restraint, enabling wrongful convictions and giving the Uchiha a poor reputation among civilians. Konoha's higher-ups further encouraged public distrust of the clan. 40 135

After becoming captain of the Third Detachment, Uchiha Yuan implemented reforms that improved the Police Force's reputation and reduced anti-Uchiha sentiment. As Uchiha Clan Head, he expanded the force from four squads to five, placing two squads entirely under non-Uchiha management and opening additional village occupations to Uchiha members. 141 202

The reforms strengthened ties between Konoha and the Uchiha Clan. Uchiha who could no longer serve as ninja found other work in the village, while former Police Force captain Uchiha Mei became a Ninja Academy teacher. 228

Fourth Hokage Election

The contest between Minato Namikaze and Orochimaru for the Fourth Hokage position was decided by the major clans. The Uchiha and Hyūga clans publicly backed Minato, allowing him to win decisively. 141

Minato's administration improved relations with the Uchiha Clan and reduced the influence of Danzō and the two advisors. Under his leadership, Konoha retained formidable high-end fighters despite losses among its mid- and low-tier ninja during the Third Great Ninja War and the Nine-Tails' Rampage. 170 228 230

Fifth Hokage Era

After Minato nominated him as successor, Uchiha Yuan became Konoha's Fifth Hokage. He introduced Training Bracelets that allowed ninja to train in the Daicokuten space, where one hour could equal several days of cultivation. 245 247

Konoha distributed the bracelets to the other great villages in exchange for allowing Konoha merchants to operate there. Hyūga Asana, serving as the Hokage's assistant, presented the Ōtsutsuki threat as the reason for this cooperation. 248

Destruction, Unification, and the Fourth Great Ninja War

The Akatsuki Organization destroyed Konoha as part of Uchiha Yuan's plan to force the divided nations into cooperation. The attack shocked the Shinobi World and prompted the Daimyō of the five great countries to unite their nations against Akatsuki. 262

Konoha joined the Allied Shinobi Forces during the Fourth Great Ninja War, facing Akatsuki, the Impure World Reincarnation army, the Ten-Tails, Madara Uchiha, and the Ōtsutsuki threat. After the war, Konoha's villagers welcomed the returning heroes and held a village-wide celebration. 263 269 270 277

Later Era

Fifteen years after Uchiha Yuan and Hyūga Asana left the Shinobi World, Minato returned from retirement to serve as the Sixth Hokage while Konoha helped integrate the newly formed Land of Shinobi. Naruto later succeeded him as Sixth Hokage. 283

Kumogakure, Sunagakure, Iwagakure, and Kirigakure were gradually dissolved, with their ninja reassigned to other professions or enforcement work. Konoha remained intact as a special department responsible for deploying clan ninja within the Land of Shinobi. 283

Relations

• Uchiha Clan — A founding clan of Konoha alongside the Senju, but long subjected to surveillance, isolation, and public distrust under policies associated with Tobirama Senju and later leadership. Relations improved after Police Force reforms and Uchiha Yuan's rise to power. 135 202 247
