Mosen's Observation Haki

"Mosen, that's a very good suggestion. I was originally planning to recruit some civilians into our ranks, but now it seems that pirates with a conscience who always stick to their principles are the best choice.

After going to sea, they've experienced a number of battles, so they have at least some combat experience compared to ordinary people.

And after witnessing life and death, they've gained a deeper understanding of certain things.

The only problem is that most pirates are unruly and don't like being told what to do. I don't know if we can persuade them," Dragon said.

"Mr. Dragon, I have some thoughts on that, too. Most pirates who stick to their principles have people or things they care about. We can appeal to their reason and their emotions by talking about the people or things they cherish.

We can tell them that as long as the Celestial Dragons and the World Government remain in power, the people and things they cherish will continue to be threatened by the Celestial Dragons. Only by overthrowing the Celestial Dragons and remaking the world can anything change."

Dragon was somewhat surprised. In his mind, Mosen was a brave and determined man, but also quiet and reserved. He'd always had only one goal: to avenge the parents the Celestial Dragons had killed.

All these years, Mosen had worked toward that goal, even going so far as to undergo a highly dangerous Lineage Factor modification.

But what Mosen had said today greatly changed Dragon's opinion of him. He felt that some of Mosen's ideas were very forward-thinking and might help with the Revolutionary Army he was about to establish. So Dragon asked without thinking, "Mosen, how do you think our organization should develop?"

At the mention of that, Mosen was wide awake. As a military enthusiast, he had an impressive store of theoretical knowledge on the subject.

After a long explanation, Dragon was dumbfounded.

He'd never expected that a phone call to Mosen today would resolve the worries that had been troubling him for so long.

Now Dragon had a very clear idea of how to establish and develop the Revolutionary Army. If he followed this plan, he was sure the Revolutionary Army had a bright future.

"Mosen, how did you come up with all this?" Dragon asked, suppressing his excitement.

"I just thought it over on my own when I had nothing else to do. When I was recuperating in Loguetown, I had nothing to do all day, so I kept thinking about how to overthrow the Celestial Dragons. Eventually, these ideas came to me," Mosen said with a smile.

"Mosen, you're a genius! I have a few more questions."

"Mr. Dragon, I actually have plenty of other ideas, too. It's hard to explain them over a Den Den Mushi. Why don't we meet up when we have time? Then we can have a proper talk," Mosen interrupted.

Dragon thought about it and agreed. They'd be able to explain things more clearly face-to-face than over a Den Den Mushi.

"All right! As it happens, I'm planning to go to Ohara soon. Let's meet there."

Mosen was startled. He was going to Ohara? At this point in time, wouldn't he end up there just as the Buster Call struck?

"Mr. Dragon, why are you going to Ohara?" Mosen asked.

"I found two Poneglyphs, and some of the things written on them are very important. I want to figure out what they say.

The only people who can decipher Poneglyphs should be the scholars of Ohara," Dragon replied.

"Mr. Dragon, is something going on in Ohara lately?" Mosen asked cautiously.

"You've heard about it, too? It's true. Some of the research Ohara's scholars are conducting has crossed the World Government's line. People from the CP Organization have already infiltrated Ohara.

You might not know about the CP Organization, Mosen, so let me explain. Its full name is CIPHER POL, abbreviated as CP.

They're a secret intelligence agency directly under the World Government. Everyone in it was an orphan taken in by the World Government as a child. After rigorous training and elimination, only a very small number of them eventually make it into the CP Organization.

Anyone who joins the CP Organization has to be proficient in the Six Powers. Of course, some people get in through their parents' connections, which is par for the course with the World Government.

The CP Organization currently infiltrating Ohara should be CP9. Their leader is named Spandine."

Mosen was startled. CP9's operations should have been classified. Even high-ranking Marines might not know about them. How had Dragon found out?

But Mosen didn't ask. Everyone had secrets, and Dragon was no exception.

So Mosen changed the subject. "Mr. Dragon, when exactly are you planning to go to Ohara?"

"Probably in a little over a month. I'll get in touch with you then," Dragon said after thinking it over.

"All right. I'll make some preparations ahead of time."

"Okay, then. Let's leave it there for now. I'm looking forward to seeing you, Mosen." With that, Dragon hung up.

"In a little over a month? That's not much time. I still haven't mastered Observation Haki.

But with my abilities, Awakening Armament Haki shouldn't be difficult. After all, I've trained my Iron Body to the point where I can develop derivative techniques. Iron Body is a prerequisite for Armament Haki, too, so my foundation should be solid.

In that case, I should focus on Observation Haki. Once I've mastered it, I'll learn Armament Haki.

My goal is to awaken both types of Haki within a month." After saying this, Mosen put away the Den Den Mushi and left the room.

For the next half month, Mosen kept sparring with Mia, slowly improving as he took hit after hit.

Mia could also clearly sense Mosen's life aura growing stronger bit by bit.

Mia still remembered how, when Mosen had first arrived in Extreme Cold Hell, his life aura had been like a candle flickering in the wind, as if the slightest gust would snuff it out.

Now, Mosen's life aura was like a furnace roaring with flames, incomparably stronger than before.

"This guy's already better than me in a straight-up fight!" Mia marveled to herself.

Mia wasn't much of a fighter to begin with. Without Observation Haki to support her, her bounty would never have reached 110 million Beli based on her direct combat ability alone.

But with Observation Haki, she could certainly hold off a pirate with a bounty of 200 million Beli, even if she couldn't defeat one.

With a "famous teacher" like Mia guiding him, Mosen finally mastered Observation Haki completely after another week.

Before, Mosen had occasionally dodged Mia's attacks through instinct. Now, he could clearly sense the auras of the people and things around him.

By judging those auras, Mosen could sense Mia's attacks and react accordingly.

Of course, Mia's Observation Haki was far stronger than Mosen's. She could always anticipate his predictions, so even after mastering Observation Haki, Mosen still couldn't land a single hit on her.
