Background / History

Yin Chen first appears concealed in a secluded corner of the Jedi Academy, wearing tattered gray robes. He observes Jade Little Sister persuade Han San—whom Yin Chen regards as his son—into becoming her disciple. Enraged by her interest in Han San's martial soul, he considers killing her, but postpones the attack after noticing Xiao Wu is a thousand-year transformed demonic beast. He takes Xiao Wu away and considers the Martial Demon Hall the proper route for pursuing immortality. 4 5

At a later point, Little Fatty persuades Yin Chen to help locate Bibi and pursue reincarnation, offering to assist Yin Chen's goal of becoming human through the Great Dao. 162

After an unexplained absence, Yin Chen reunites with Han San in an ancient courtyard. Though he cannot remember his past, Han San recognizes him as his father, and Yin Chen is identified as the former Heavenly Demon Emperor. 191 He subsequently arranges Han San's marriage to Guo Mian's adopted daughter, Du Xixi, while supplying Han San with powerful bone fragments and warning him that Xiao Wu is a thousand-year transformed Spirit Essence. 194

Yin Chen presses Han San to rebuild a kingdom centered on the Heavenly Palace and to use the strength of the King of Pirates' subordinates. His guidance combines concern for Han San's future with political calculation and pressure. 251 He later plans to seal Du Xixi's Spirit Power using the Yin Yang Heavenly Secret Art, after which she becomes his subordinate and awakens a demon god. 270

As a Heavenly Palace successor, Yin Chen seeks authority over the Heavenly Palace and the Heavenly Star Sect. He regards himself as worthy of leading the Heavenly Palace, dismisses lesser Spirit Power, and believes his future ascent will surpass rivals. Yet his confidence is repeatedly tempered by anxiety over stronger figures, particularly the Martial Arts Realm and Tang Qinghe. 277 279

He is also ruthless when challenged. He considers assassinating Jade Little Sister, threatens Little Fatty after previously sparing him, orders elders to attack Tang Qinghe, and captures transformed Spirit Beasts for their spiritual essence. 4 193 282 333

Despite this, Yin Chen displays genuine attachment to Han San.
