Background / History

Makoto is a transmigrator who arrived in the ninja world thirteen years before the events of his introduction. He is one year older than Uchiha Itachi and was born into the Hyuga Branch Family. After his parents, who served under Hizashi Hyuga, died in battle, he lived in Hizashi’s home for several years. Hizashi’s death and the Branch Family’s Caged Bird seal left a lasting impression on him. 2

At age thirteen, Makoto applies directly to Hiruzen Sarutobi to join the ANBU. He presents the request as a way to fulfill Hizashi’s wish of changing both the Hyuga Clan and Konoha; Hiruzen ultimately approves the application after political discussions with the village leadership and Hyuga Hiashi. 1 3 5

Before beginning ANBU service, Makoto activates the Moon Ōtsutsuki Template obtained through his system. The reward transforms his Hyuga bloodline into a developing Moon Ōtsutsuki bloodline and evolves his Byakugan into a pale-gold Tenseigan. 2 3

Makoto is outwardly sunny, cheerful, and sociable. He befriends many peers, including Naruto and the future Konoha 11, and repeatedly assists Hinata when she is in trouble. 1 2

He is also calculating and pragmatic. Makoto uses foreknowledge as a transmigrator, pursues system rewards aggressively, seeks Orochimaru’s research for its practical value, and frequently looks for bounties or intelligence that can finance his ambitions. 2 17 60 87

Despite this opportunism, he places great value on comrades. He refuses Orochimaru’s recruitment, fights to protect Kakashi and Tenzo, and states that he will not abandon his companions even when doing so conflicts with his assigned mission. 14 16

Makoto joins the ANBU as a Branch Family Hyuga, passes a combat assessment against ANBU operatives, and is assigned to Kakashi and Tenzo’s team. Their first mission investigates an abandoned Orochimaru laboratory in the Land of Whirlpools and supports Konoha forces against Kirigakure. 5 7

During this operation, Makoto defeats Ao and recovers his stolen Byakugan, confronts Shinno, and refuses to retreat when Orochimaru threatens his teammates. He uses the encounter to obtain information on Shinno’s secret technique while rejecting Orochimaru’s offer. 10 11 14 16 23

Hyuga Reform

Makoto trains Hinata and Neji in less predictable Gentle Fist methods while steadily gaining prestige within the Branch Family. 19 20 23

He later works on the Caged Bird seal, prompting Hyuga Hiashi to acknowledge both Makoto’s actions and the need for the clan to change. Hiashi selects capable and loyal Branch Family members to serve under Makoto’s ANBU command. 59 79

When Hyuga Shingo attempts to use the Caged Bird seal on Neji, Makoto intervenes and defeats him. The resulting clan dispute reaches Hiruzen’s office, where Hiashi dissolves the distinction between the Main and Branch Families. 92 93

Conflict with Akatsuki and Obito

Makoto joins Jiraiya and Kakashi in investigating Obito’s influence over Kirigakure. After mastering Flying Thunder God, he confronts Kisame, using overwhelming speed and pointed questions about Kisame’s loyalties to destabilize him psychologically. 96 98

He defeats and immobilizes Kisame but offers cooperation rather than killing him, framing Konoha’s investigation as an opportunity to discover the truth behind Kirigakure’s increasingly irrational leadership. 98

Izumi later learns that Makoto confronted the Three-Tails and Obito in Kirigakure and won. The Three-Tails’ and Six-Tails’ chakra subsequently contribute to his internal Ten-Tails development. 104 113

Ten-Tails’ Shell and Uchiha Squad

Following the Hyuga Clan’s liberation, Makoto receives and merges with the Ten-Tails’ shell, accelerating his Tenseigan and Yin–Yang Release development. 94

Kakashi subsequently brings Uchiha Izumi and Sasuke into Makoto’s care, with Izumi formally assigned to his ANBU squad, positioning Makoto as a bridge between Konoha and the Uchiha. 104

Makoto later supports Izumi’s resolve to bring the surviving Uchiha together. He assures Shisui that both he and the village will support her, then demonstrates that protective love can serve as a basis for Uchiha advancement by helping her awaken the Mangekyō Sharingan in Tsunade’s presence. 147 148 152

By the time Izumi holds her clan meeting, Makoto is dividing his attention between his students, Uchiha affairs, and leadership training beside Hiruzen. 154

Tsunade Retrieval and the Fourth Raikage

While traveling with Jiraiya, Kakashi, and Izumi to find Tsunade, Makoto detects that someone is following them. The group subsequently becomes involved in an Akatsuki ambush and a confrontation with Kumogakure forces. 117 120 121

The Fourth Raikage attempts to obtain Makoto’s Byakugan. Makoto defeats him with Eighty Gods Vacuum Attack: First Form, nearly killing him but adjusting the blow so that he is not completely destroyed. Tsunade preserves his life, and Jiraiya opposes selling his body because of the risk of war. Makoto’s attacks also destroy three of Kakuzu’s hearts and disrupt the battles threatening Kakashi and Izumi. 120 121

The encounter helps persuade Tsunade to return to Konoha. Makoto then begins studying the fuller Eighty Gods Vacuum Attack knowledge granted by his system. 121 123

Konoha and Kumogakure negotiate compensation, secret techniques, and the return of Hizashi’s remains. Hiruzen assigns Makoto and Izumi to escort the Raikage to the exchange point, explicitly ordering Makoto to travel under his own name without a mask or codename so that the shinobi world will recognize him. 127

Revenge for Hizashi and the Two-Tails

During a later masked operation with Shisui, Makoto confronts the Fourth Raikage and survives an unexpected Dust Release attack by Ōnoki. After Ōnoki retreats, Makoto kills the critically injured Raikage without revealing his identity, completing his revenge for Hizashi. He orders Shisui to seal the body and collect its black-market bounty. 131

Makoto leaves Yugito alive so that she can spread an account implicating the Akatsuki, while taking the Two-Tails’ chakra for his own development. Absorption raises his Moon Ōtsutsuki bloodline to 44% and Tenseigan development to 27%, opens the internal Ten-Tails husk’s second eye, and begins a second ocular quickening. 131 132

The false attribution enrages Obito and forces the Akatsuki to confront the Nucleus Organization’s use of its reputation. Kumogakure also begins investigating Konoha and Makoto, whose earlier public defeat of the Raikage makes him an obvious suspect. 133

Public Demonstration and Akatsuki Investigation

Hiruzen arranges a sparring match between Makoto and Jiraiya before selected Konoha jōnin, Hyuga members, friends, and senior figures. Makoto displays unconventional Gentle Fist, improved Rotation, chakra absorption, Flying Thunder God, and Divine Sky Strike, shattering the training ground’s protective barrier. 134 135

The performance raises his standing in Konoha and inspires the Hyuga to pursue a broader future for their fighting style. Tsunade recognizes his advanced Yin Seal control and agrees to visit the clan for an exchange of knowledge. 135

During the demonstration, Makoto questions the precise timing of earlier ambushes and directs suspicion toward the Land of Rain and Land of Fields. Hiruzen responds by sending Danzō to investigate the Land of Rain through his past relationship with Hanzō, rather than sending Makoto and Jiraiya as Makoto had anticipated. 134 135

Nagato Confrontation and Bloodline Evolution

In a later confrontation, Makoto combines Natural Force, Yin–Yang Release, and his advanced techniques against the Akatsuki. Black Zetsu identifies his developing combat profile as increasingly similar to Hamura’s. 143

Makoto reaches Nagato and uses Sacrificial Alchemy to condense powers from his body and Rinnegan into a pill. Nagato’s mechanical armor and Rinnegan defenses fail to stop him, and Konan’s paper attacks are neutralized. Makoto then uses previously placed Flying Thunder God marks to evacuate his allies before a massive explosion engulfs the battlefield. 143

The Akatsuki regroups in anger and agrees that Makoto must be restrained. Black Zetsu prepares a White Zetsu-based impostor with Danzō’s memories to infiltrate Konoha and undermine him. Meanwhile, Makoto requests a Yin–Yang research team and begins integrating Kimimaro’s rewarded Yang Release with powers taken from Nagato. 144

The resulting transformation raises his bloodline to 49% and Tenseigan development to 29%, strengthens his Byakugan perception, and produces an enhanced Shikotsumyaku ability. 145

Dust Release Retaliation and Izumi’s Awakening

Makoto develops Dust Release through his clone using Ōnoki’s research. After Obito attacks the clone, Makoto retaliates with an airborne Dust Release assault coordinated with Shisui’s Susanoo. 148 149 151 152

Dust Release: Limelight Disintegration destroys Itachi’s armored Susanoo, erases Raiga, severely injures Itachi, and devastates the forest. Makoto ends the attack when the clone’s chakra is nearly spent, recognizing that Obito’s spatial techniques and Izanagi continue making him difficult to kill. Observers from the major villages witness the destruction but remain uncertain about Makoto’s identity and faction. 152

Returning his consciousness to his original body in Konoha, Makoto resumes his work with Izumi. He explains the distinction between power born from losing love and power born from protecting it, then manipulates her Yin Release to bring about her Mangekyō Sharingan awakening. 152
