Background / History

The Dugu Family’s Jade Phosphorous Serpent Martial Soul carried an inherited poison affliction. Becoming a Titled Douluo was the family’s lifelong ambition, and Dugu Bo believed that reaching the realm would free him from the poison curse and secure his family’s future. His son also suffered from poisoning, although Mu Rong Chen described the son’s condition as relatively mild and easy to treat 137 143.

Dugu Bo initially resented Mu Rong Chen and repeatedly contemplated turning against him. Over more than two years, the promise of advancement and relief from his family’s affliction changed that resistance into genuine submission. By the time Mu Rong Chen entrusted him with retrieving the Nine-Headed Ice Dragon Serpent, Dugu Bo openly addressed him as “Leader” and accepted his authority 137.

Appearance

  • Before his evolution: An aged face, emerald eyes, and a disheveled topknot 137 139.
  • After his breakthrough: Visibly younger; Yue Guan and Gui Mei immediately notice the change 145.
  • Soul Power: Commonly manifests as jade-green light or green poisonous mist 137 167.
  • Evolved Martial Soul: A massive poison dragon with fearsome scales, horns, and four claws. Its Avatar is over ten meters long and possesses enormous wings 145 151.

Personality

Dugu Bo is proud, suspicious of coercion, and fiercely hostile to being treated as another faction’s servant. Although he accepts Mu Rong Chen’s leadership, he refuses Spirit Hall’s offer even when Yue Guan threatens to kill him. Being mistaken for Spirit Hall’s subordinate later provokes an explosive, profane response 139 163.

His family’s welfare outweighs his pride. When offered the evolution pill, he immediately considers whether another could be saved for his son. Mu Rong Chen’s assurances allow him to accept it without that concern 143.

His loyalty develops into a willingness to sacrifice himself: he burns his life and soul after Mu Rong Chen suffers a potentially fatal attack during the sea hunt. That devotion coexists with cruelty toward enemies. In the Blue Silver Forest, he mocks Tang Hao and Ah Yin’s relationship and deliberately destroys the surrounding plant life while carrying out his leader’s orders 153 161 166.

Abilities & Skills

Jade Scale Poison Dragon

  • Evolves from the Jade Phosphorous Serpent through Mu Rong Chen’s pill-assisted transformation 143 145.

  • Its dragon claws can clash directly with Tang Xiao’s Clear Sky Hammer while carrying emerald poison flames 167 168.

Eighth Soul Skill: Time Freeze

  • Used against the Sea Viper Serpent Emperor’s blood-red poisonous attack 153.
  • Their collision produces an explosion powerful enough to break the Two Extremes Stillness Domain, inflicting backlash on Yue Guan and Gui Mei 153.
