Tang Hao returned to the academy after leaving a Tang family wedding. There, he accepted Tang Yu as his disciple and brought him to eat with Xue Ling. His conduct and earlier statements indicate an ambition to establish a sect or independent force of his own 10.

He later possessed the final piece of a puzzle that he believed would allow him and his disciples to challenge a Soul Venerable. Tang Hao, Mu Lin, and Suo Yang chose to leave the Soul Refining Sect in pursuit of practical, life-threatening experience rather than remain sheltered 42.

Tang Hao eventually learned that his parents' deaths and his family's curse were connected. Returning to the devastated Demon City, he confronted a thirty-third-ranked Spirit Lord while only a tenth-level Spirit Master, choosing to fight despite the disparity in strength 53.

When Mu Rong Chen's group targets Ah Yin, Tang Hao tries to defend and rescue her. He manifests the Clear Sky True Body and attempts the Exploding Ring technique, but is immobilized and severely injured before Tang Xiao intervenes 161 162 163.

Ah Yin ultimately self-destructs amid Dugu Bo's Poison Dragon Purgatory. Tang Hao is left mourning at the ruins of the Blue Silver Forest until Tang Xiao convinces him to live for their child and revenge 166 167.

Escape and Tang Xiao's death

Tang Hao is unable to intervene as Tang Xiao is overwhelmed and assassinated by Gui Mei. An unknown force—described as the World Correction Force of a Child of Destiny—teleports Tang Hao away from the battlefield 168.
