Background / History

Ning Fengzhi was the Sect Master of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, one of the Upper Three Sects. Although he lacked the combat power of a Titled Douluo in his early years, his position, political skill, and the sect's wealth allowed him to deal with powerful Soul Masters as an equal. His intellect, rather than his innate talent, was the reason he became sect master. 15 52

The Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect relied on powerful external protectors because its direct lineage specialized in support rather than combat. Ning Fengzhi led the sect alongside its Supreme Elders, Chen Xin and Gu Rong; while their status was equivalent to his, final decision-making authority remained with Ning Fengzhi. 16

After Zhongli appeared in Heaven Dou City, Ning Fengzhi investigated him and personally visited with Chen Xin. He cautiously tested Zhongli's tea for danger, then offered Zhongli and Paimon antique gifts to establish goodwill. The sect subsequently sought to cultivate closer ties with Zhongli and the emerging Innate Sect. 16 17 19

Ning Fengzhi later accepted Zhongli's Aromatic Silk Beauty in exchange for nullifying prior favors between their factions. The herb evolved his Martial Soul, allowing him to surpass the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda's inherent limit and become a Soul Douluo. Following Xue Qinghe's accession, Ning Fengzhi was enfeoffed as Heaven Dou's Imperial Tutor. The appointment formalized his long-standing role as the crown prince's teacher and strengthened the alliance between the sect and the imperial court. 364

He accepted the Nine-Colored Goddess's inheritance and pursued its trials with the support of Chen Xin, Gu Rong, and the sect. Ning Fengzhi is a composed and highly pragmatic leader. He prioritizes the sect's survival, influence, and long-term security, frequently treating alliances, investments, and personal connections as strategic assets. His willingness to diversify the sect's interests, cultivate ties with the Innate Sect, and later negotiate with Di Tian reflects this approach. 116 266 423

He is also cautious in unfamiliar situations. During his first meeting with Zhongli, he personally tested the tea rather than risk Chen Xin, recognizing that losing the sect master would endanger the entire sect. 17

Despite his political calculation, Ning Fengzhi is deeply protective of Ning Rongrong. He confined her when he believed her behavior endangered the sect, removed her from the sect-master candidacy, and feigned collapse to delay elders who wanted to exploit or cripple her for the sect's benefit. 207 232 233 400
