Acquisition and Rarity

• Soul Bones may be produced when Soul Beasts die, but the drop rate is exceptionally low. After killing more than ten thousand Blood Spot Snakes, Shu Yan obtained only three; after killing hundreds of Sea Soul Beasts, he obtained no bones until a Golden Orca produced one 134 137.
• Stronger and more exceptional Soul Beasts have a greater likelihood of producing Soul Bones. The Golden Orca Left Arm Bone was considered particularly fortunate because Sea Soul Beasts rarely produce arm bones 134.
• Soul Beast age strongly affects a Soul Bone's value. Thousand-year bones can serve as rewards, while Ten-Thousand-Year, Hundred-Thousand-Year, and Fierce Beast-level bones are major strategic resources 4 201 242.
• The Extreme North Land possesses reserves second only to the Star Dou Great Forest, although many older Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Bones have been lost or ruined over time 84.
• Soul Bones may also be recovered from defeated Soul Masters, inherited through sect legacies, exchanged for rare resources, or sold through major auctions 59 110 147 220.

Absorption and Compatibility

• Suitability is more important than raw age or value. A Soul Bone that conflicts with its user's Martial Soul, attributes, or existing slots can become a future liability 59 171 173.
• High-quality bones can be used primarily to increase Soul Power and physical strength even when their attributes are not perfectly compatible, provided they do not clash with the absorber's own attributes 134 171.
• Certain special methods can remove and replace an absorbed Soul Bone, though this is not treated as a routine option 134.
• Soul Bones containing powerful bloodlines or resentment can be lethal. Three dragon-type Soul Masters who attempted to absorb the Purple Gold Dragon Torso Bone were severely injured or killed; one survivor became a living corpse with crippled Soul Power and spine 174.
• The Soul Beast's lingering resentment can also endanger Soul Tool crafting. Han Lin required a sufficiently powerful Soul Master to suppress the resentment within the Titan Snow Demon Head Soul Bone during integration 36.

Soul Bone–Soul Tool Integration

The integration of a Soul Bone and a Soul Tool had been achieved before Shu Yan's commission, but preserving a Soul Beast's resentment during the process was considered unprecedented and hazardous 36.

• Shu Yan surrendered the near-perfect Ten-Thousand-Year Titan Snow Demon Head Soul Bone rather than absorb it himself. He considered its use as a high-level Soul Tool more valuable to his long-term plans 35 36.
• Han Lin accepted the commission because he was researching Soul Bone–Soul Tool integration and regarded the Titan Snow Demon skull as an ideal material 35.
• The crafting process was expected to take no more than half a month, assuming the Soul Beast's resentment could be controlled 36.

• The Seventy-Thousand-Year Ice Scorpion Left Arm Bone opened bidding at more than ten million Gold Soul Coins 220.
• A Sixty-Thousand-Year Demon Eye Magic Tree Torso Bone opened at eight million Gold Soul Coins and sold for more than seventeen million due to its broad compatibility and rarity 220.
• The Purple Gold Dragon Torso Bone was listed at fifty million Gold Soul Coins, though Shu Yan estimated its actual value at more than seventy million because of its Golden Dragon bloodline 174.
• Even an ordinary thousand-year Soul Bone is considered too valuable for common recipients to hold safely without protection 201.
