Background / History

The Ice Empress belongs to the Ice Jade Emperor Scorpion race, one of the supreme ice-attribute races of the Douluo Continent. Her clan abandoned its original deadly poison to pursue pure Extreme Ice cultivation 132 236.

Her Three Hundred Thousand Year Great Tribulation exposed the limits of her cultivation. She subsequently pursued Sky Dream Ice Silkworm, hoping its nearly million years of pure energy would allow her to survive the next threshold. Its powerful Spiritual Power repeatedly enabled it to escape her 90 214.

Before meeting Shu Yan, she regarded godhood as an almost unreachable realm. She also opposed the Snow Empress's plan to take human form, judging its risks too great and its prospects of success negligible 13.

Personality

The Ice Empress is proud, stubborn, and quick to act when someone she cares about appears threatened. Her initial hatred of humans leads her to assume that Shu Yan has deceived the Snow Empress, and she attempts to kill him even after his identity is explained. Once she commits to joining him, however, she becomes a serious instructor rather than merely an unwilling companion 12 14.

Her behaviour differs sharply between outsiders and loved ones. She is cold and merciless toward strangers, but playful, affectionate, and demanding around the Snow Empress, Shu Yan, and Xu Jiujiu.
