Background / History
Fang Yue entered the game world as the Player Night Dawn. Early in Ancient Moon Village, he relied on Lord Han’s assistance while seeking treatment for Night Chill Erosion and attempting to begin martial cultivation despite doubts about his age and potential 12 13.
His early strength developed through killing Anomalies, acquiring Lifespan, and exploiting the unusual effects of his Talent, Night’s Breath. Even while crippled by qi deviation and left with only thirteen hours of Lifespan, he searched for ways to cure himself rather than immediately abandon his character 20. Night’s Breath later restored his severed hand and ended his disability 58.
Fang Yue became Vice-Captain of Ancient Moon Village’s Guard Team, choosing night patrols and a residence near a crematorium and cemetery because the location suited his Yin energy 73. His repeated victories over Anomalies made him a known Player figure under the name Night Dawn, drawing fans, forum attention, and admiration from villagers and guards 97 98 194.
After Ancient Moon Village’s destruction, Fang Yue traveled through Qingsi County and Chu Nuan City. He became involved with the Great Yang Merchant Group after protecting its caravan, rescuing Yang Hongxia from Night Bandits, and defending the group against Anomalies and hostile merchant factions 597 602 633. His campaign against the Phoenix Organization expanded from personal survival into efforts to rescue allies including Lin Ling, Lord Han, Qing Chen, An Dong’er, and You Sisi 483 495 679 904.
He inherited Lord Han’s core ice-attribute legacy: the Ice Condensation Mind Method, Flowing Ice Footwork, and Empty Ice Sword Technique. Once all three were mastered, their resonance formed the basis of the Empty Ice Sword Canon 819 834.
Fang Yue eventually learned of his connection to the Night Moon Clan. Ye Ya, its final leader, entrusted him with the clan’s remaining power and its future 995. After apparently dying while entering a spatial fragment, he reformed and returned at Rain Grade 993 1000.
Personality
Fang Yue is driven by immediate, practical concerns: Lifespan, cultivation resources, survival, and the strength needed to protect people important to him. He regularly weighs risks against rewards, such as rejecting Wei Liang’s underpriced assassination proposal and choosing the Martial Competition as the safer route to save An Dong’er 230 679.
He can be blunt, opportunistic, and openly excited by attribute rewards or valuable loot. His eagerness to hunt Anomalies was repeatedly mistaken by the Great Yang Merchant Group as selfless dedication to their safety 604. He is nevertheless protective when it matters, repeatedly intervening for companions and civilians despite danger 599 602 833.
His rapid growth has also made him self-critical. After fleeing in fear of a supposed Yin Messenger, he recognized his overconfidence and began treating the wilderness and stronger enemies with greater caution 597 598. He later acknowledged that his power had grown faster than his ability to control it 900.
Appearance
Fang Yue commonly appears under disguises and alternate identities, making his presentation variable.

- Wields a distinctive two-meter black saber during his journey with the Great Yang Merchant Group. 597

- Bears a black ring above his head due to the Black Rain Curse; it produces Night Rain and becomes more dangerous in combat. 747
