Identity and Ancient Remains

Nian Nu'er identifies herself as a remnant soul of Divine King Huichuanliu Yu, one of the Twelve Divine Kings, while emphasizing that the complete Divine King is not Nian Nu'er. Her surviving memories are incomplete, and she initially limits what she tells Fang Mo to what she can remember and what he can safely know 103 104.

Parts of her original body survive separately. A finger bone is kept beneath Yihong Pavilion, while Penglai uses her bones to secure its formation and her lower torso to cultivate Immortal Seeds. She remembers the living presence beneath Guixu from a time when she was still whole 104 330 344 345.

Yihong Pavilion

Nian Nu'er appears as a courtesan whose apparent vulnerability conceals authority over the pavilion's madam. After the Demon Suppression Division breaks into her room and takes Fang Mo away, she immediately drops her frightened manner, orders repairs, and has the madam investigate both Fang Mo and the raid 2.

On a later visit, she wears her hair pinned up as a married woman. She explains that, under the rules of her trade, Fang Mo became her husband because he was her first guest. Fang Mo promises to provide for her 26.

Their flirtatious relationship becomes entangled with Fang Mo's investigation into the Blood Soul Soldier Lord and the Divine Capital's events eighteen years earlier. Nian Nu'er initially evades his questions, but admits that the Soldier Lord prevented Yihong Pavilion from becoming a living hell. In exchange for further information, she asks Fang Mo to retrieve a still-bleeding heart from a not-quite-dead prisoner in Heavenly Prison's Block C, Room Shen, Number Nineteen 94 95.

Binding to Prison Suppressor

Fang Mo retrieves the heart but first withholds it, demanding that Nian Nu'er reveal her bargaining chip. Its Progenitor Aura overwhelms her, exposing how desperately she wants it 100.

After she implants the heart, Prison Suppressor's chains emerge from her chest. The organ's existing incarceration mark binds her to the prison despite her restored strength 101 102.

Inside Prison Suppressor, Nian Nu'er displays knowledge of its rules that exceeds Fang Mo's own. She manifests a lotus dais and a palace, and refuses to share his throne even when he tries to pull her onto it. She insists that only he is worthy of the seat, although Fang Mo initially interprets her reverence as being directed toward its former master 103 104.

• Early clothing: Frequently wears purple gauze and goes barefoot. A red ankle cord carries a small golden bell 94 95 114.

Personality

Nian Nu'er habitually uses teasing, affected reproach, and apparent helplessness to control an encounter. Her frightened performance during the pavilion raid vanishes as soon as Fang Mo is taken away, revealing a composed woman accustomed to issuing orders. Fang Mo later recognizes another display of fear as an act 2 27.

Her seductive manner coexists with pride in her ancient standing. She nearly scatters Yuanjue's soul for dismissing the Divine Kings as myths, demands that Liang Qingwei kneel before addressing her by her full name, and answers threats with cutting mockery 103 343.

Her devotion to Fang Mo becomes increasingly explicit. She admires his lawlessness, risks her origins to protect him, and rejects an Inspector Envoy's attempt to shame her for serving him. Nevertheless, she insists on her own identity rather than treating restoration as an obligation to become her ancient self again 114 184 345 354.
