Defeat Means Punishment

"Harley Quinn, you actually walked right into our hands!"

Black Mask's men immediately surrounded the three of them, making Kara feel uneasy.

But Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy Pamela looked completely at ease.

Harley Quinn weighed the baseball bat in her hand and said, "Black Mask, you were the one who started this. We have no grudge against each other!"

"No grudge against each other?"

Black Mask gave a cold snort. "You had the Joker protecting you back then, and you've forgotten how you blew up my warehouse!"

"I haven't forgotten, even if you have!"

Hearing that, Harley Quinn's eyes darted around. Of course she hadn't forgotten.

"Oh, really? You're so petty! Hahaha!"

She burst out laughing, as if mocking Black Mask.

Black Mask was so angry he laughed too. "Since you walked right into my hands, I'll make sure to torture you properly. And I'll enjoy myself while I'm at it. Let's see what a crazy woman like you can do!"

"Fuck you! I'm damn good, but you don't get to find out!"

Harley Quinn spat at him.

Right now, only Li Ang got to enjoy her.

"You don't really think these two women can save you, do you?"

Black Mask looked at Poison Ivy and Kara.

He knew Poison Ivy, but he wasn't afraid of her.

"Women are just playthings!"

"Grab them!"

With strength in numbers, Black Mask had nothing to worry about. He ordered his men to attack at once.

There was nothing to discuss. They just had to capture the women.

He'd already decided what to do next.

He'd make them his women, then use the opportunity to expand his territory!

He knew just how powerful Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn were.

The Joker had treated Harley Quinn purely as a henchwoman, and that was exactly how she'd made such a name for herself.

As for Poison Ivy, there was no need to say more. She had her own subordinates.

If he could absorb them into his ranks, he could become Gotham's biggest crime boss in one fell swoop!

Then Falcone, Penguin, and all the rest would be beneath his heel!

So his men didn't use firearms. They charged forward with melee weapons instead.

That was exactly why Harley Quinn wasn't afraid.

She exchanged a glance with Poison Ivy, then said to Kara, "Stay behind me, and be careful."

Then she took her baseball bat and rolled across the ground.

"Home run!"

She leaped into the air and swung her baseball bat, knocking one of the thugs flat on his back.

But the other thugs came pouring in.

Poison Ivy Pamela protected Kara. Plants surrounded them, restraining the thugs one after another.

Then Poison Ivy puckered her lips and blew a kiss.

Her lips could secrete a hallucinogenic gas containing "mental toxins." Spread through kisses or the air, it could control other people.

Only those with strong willpower could resist its effects.

That was why Harley Quinn had told Li Ang not to kiss her.

Harley was afraid Li Ang would be stolen away by Poison Ivy.

After all, they were close friends with the same tastes.

Harley Quinn was certain that Li Ang could make Poison Ivy Pamela swoon.

Quite a few of Black Mask's men were controlled in an instant. They turned around, joined Harley Quinn, and pushed back toward Black Mask.

That was why they weren't afraid of Black Mask.

If you could control his men at any moment, how could he possibly fight you?

Kara's brow furrowed. She felt uneasy inside.

This was her first time facing something like this up close.

But she wasn't afraid. Instead, she thought:

If Spider-Man were here, he'd knock them all down by himself.

By now, Harley Quinn was completely caught up in the fight.

Her baseball bat whistled through the air as she swung it with impressive skill. The bat looked a little awkward in her hands, almost too big for her.

But it didn't hinder her at all.

Ordinary people were no match for Harley Quinn, so she quickly fought her way to Black Mask.

Black Mask was furious.

"You bitch! I'm going to wreck you!"

Black Mask joined the fight himself.

His black mask also had a degree of mind-control ability, and the others immediately scattered.

His men looked dazed and no longer took part in the fight.

In an instant, only the two of them remained to face off.

Poison Ivy Pamela said, "Something's wrong. I can't control them anymore."

"Let's get out of here," Kara said.

"No. We have to take him down."

Poison Ivy remained resolute. "Trust Harley."

In her eyes, Harley Quinn had already been enhanced, so she was no longer an ordinary person.

Unfortunately, neither was Black Mask.

Black Mask suddenly pulled out a gun.

"Bang!"

He pulled the trigger without hesitation.

Luckily, Harley Quinn reacted in a flash and raised her baseball bat.

She barely blocked the shot, but the bat was shattered.

In that brief moment of hesitation, Black Mask had already rushed up to her.

Though he hadn't undergone any enhancements, Black Mask had kept himself in shape to take revenge on Bruce Wayne, and he also had fighting skills.

Harley Quinn, on the other hand, had never received any systematic training. She relied entirely on her superhuman physical abilities.

She could handle ordinary thugs easily enough.

But against a skilled opponent, things could go wrong.

Now she could only fight Black Mask with her bare hands, and she was at a disadvantage almost instantly.

"Ugh!"

Black Mask showed no mercy to women. He drove a knee into Harley Quinn's abdomen, nearly dropping her, then grabbed her.

Holding her by the throat, he said, "I'm going to make sure you all suffer."

"Ptooey!"

Even after being captured, Harley Quinn still spat a mouthful of blood onto his mask.

Then Black Mask threw her aside.

In the blink of an eye, Harley Quinn, the one Poison Ivy had counted on, had been defeated.

Poison Ivy completely panicked.

At this rate, they'd be punished for losing!

Unfortunately, Poison Ivy couldn't fight at close range. She relied on plants.

She immediately controlled the vines she had brought with her.

The vines swelled in an instant, but Black Mask had been prepared. One shot snapped them in two.

"Damn you! How dare you hurt my babies!"

As a fervent plant lover, Poison Ivy flew into a rage.

Then Black Mask threatened her. "If you keep resisting, I'll burn every plant in Gotham."

"Don't you dare!"

He'd hit Poison Ivy right where it hurt, and she didn't dare make a move.

In all of Gotham, Poison Ivy was the easiest person to threaten.

That was because plants were the only thing she cared about. Everything else meant nothing to her.

That was exactly why she was always being "threatened."

As Penguin put it, her weakness was just too obvious.

Kara never imagined the "two big hitters" would be defeated just like that.

Was this what Gotham's "villains" were like?
