"There's you, too, you adorable little doll."

Black Mask finally turned his attention to Kara.

Her cute appearance stirred a violent urge in him.

"I hate dolls most of all. I'm going to tear your face off."

He started toward Kara.

"Don't come any closer!"

Kara was torn and immediately spoke up.

The Godfather had told her to hide her powers and not let anyone discover them.

But if she didn't use her powers now, wouldn't that be terrible?

The problem was that there were so many people around. If she used her powers, it might cause an even bigger scene.

Unless everyone kept it a secret and didn't tell anyone.

But how could that possibly happen?

Black Mask had no idea. As far as he was concerned, the blonde doll had no ability to fight back.

"Harley Quinn, thanks for the gift!"

His lust for little girls was about to get the better of him.

Seeing this, Harley Quinn was instantly overcome with fierce maternal rage.

She had been aching all over, but now she was filled with strength. She leaped to her feet and charged straight at Black Mask.

"You bastard! Stay away from my daughter!"

Harley Quinn shouted as she rushed over, leaping onto Black Mask's back and clawing at his neck with both hands.

But she was no match for Black Mask. It was an inherent physical difference between men and women.

Black Mask's fighting skills were at least on Nightwing's level. Harley Quinn couldn't hope to stand up to him.

He easily shook her off, slammed her to the ground, and grabbed her by the throat.

"You bitch!"

Black Mask could feel the many scratches she had left on him. Blood ran down his neck.

He immediately tightened his grip around Harley Quinn's throat.

He had always been violent by nature, and now he couldn't stop himself from wanting to kill the woman.

"You're all going to die!"

"Ugh..."

Choked by his grip, Harley Quinn couldn't speak. She could only struggle to breathe.

She tried to turn her head toward Kara, signaling for her to run.

But Kara seemed frozen.

The moment Harley Quinn had charged forward without regard for her own safety, Kara had been moved.

She had always hated Harley Quinn, but now she saw her differently.

So when she saw Harley Quinn being treated like this, Kara couldn't stand by any longer.

She was going to break her promise to the Godfather.

"Let her go!"

"Get lost, brat!"

Black Mask naturally wasn't going to listen.

"I said... let her go!"

Kara walked straight toward him.

But Black Mask didn't hesitate either. He fired at her.

He no longer wanted to torment the women. He had already been consumed by rage.

"Bang!"

"No!"

Harley Quinn shouted with the last of her strength, tears instantly welling in her eyes.

She truly thought of Kara as her own daughter.

Otherwise, she wouldn't have been so overcome with maternal affection so often.

Poison Ivy saw what was happening and hurriedly tried to control the plants.

But to their surprise, the bullet struck Kara and bounced away in an instant.

"What?"

Poison Ivy stared in disbelief.

Kara also felt that something was wrong.

Her eyes were so itchy!

They hurt!

"Ah!!"

Kara's eyes suddenly turned red. As she cried out, a powerful beam of energy shot from them.

In an instant, the beam pierced straight through Black Mask's chest, killing him on the spot.

But the energy didn't stop. It blasted through the entire building in front of her.

Kara could no longer control herself, but she forced her head upward and looked at the sky.

"Ah!!!"

"Boom!!!"

It was as if an earthquake had struck all of Gotham.

Batman was patrolling outside in the Batmobile when he immediately asked, "What's going on, Alfred?"

"I don't know, sir. It seems to be coming from the Upper East Side!"

Alfred, who had been getting a little sleepy, was instantly wide awake.

Batman immediately turned the Batmobile around and drove toward the Upper East Side.

But as soon as he reached an open area, he was stunned.

In one part of the Upper East Side, a red beam of light shot into the sky, piercing through Gotham's clouds and darkness. The whole city seemed to have turned as bright as day.

"What the hell is that?"

Even Batman, who had seen just about everything, was stunned.

"That's an intense energy signature, sir. The beam is extremely hot and has tremendous force. It could pierce through almost anything!"

Alfred was drenched in a cold sweat.

Gotham had plenty of supervillains, but nothing like this had ever happened before.

It was like a bronze-rank match suddenly getting a top-ranked player.

A complete mismatch!

This stunned everyone in Gotham.

Batman didn't dare waste time and immediately drove toward the beam.

It was dangerous, but he was Batman!

Gotham's protector!

Aside from Batman, almost everyone in Gotham was startled by the commotion.

Even the Iceberg Lounge hurriedly shut down. The Upper East Side wasn't far away.

Li Ang was among the first to rush outside and see what was happening.

Then he saw the red beam shooting into the sky.

Unlike the panicked onlookers around him, Li Ang immediately sensed something was wrong.

"Why does this feel so familiar?"

He soon thought of a power.

"Heat Vision!"

Kara hadn't awakened this power yet, so he hadn't paid it much attention.

But now, there was a very good chance Kara had caused this.

So much for watching the action from the sidelines—it had hit close to home!

Li Ang immediately panicked.

He was worried something had happened to Kara.

In a panic, Li Ang hurried over to Frank. "Lend me your car."

"You're not going to tell me you're heading to the Upper East Side, are you?"

Seeing Li Ang's anxious expression, Frank immediately guessed.

He was built like a tiger, but sharp enough to read people.

"I have something important to take care of," Li Ang said.

"I'm coming with you."

Frank didn't hesitate.

"No need."

"No. You don't have a driver's license!"

Frank refused on those grounds.

Then the two of them got into the car and headed toward the Upper East Side.

The tremor had only lasted a moment. By the time they set off, the beam of light had already disappeared.

But the shock it had caused among Gotham's people remained.

Under that beam, everyone had felt so small, and the ground had shaken as if in an earthquake.

Most importantly, they thought they had heard an explosion, too.

If it wanted to destroy all of Gotham, that beam probably could.

So everyone was left wondering what had happened.

When Li Ang and Frank drove onto the road, it was night, but the streets were packed with cars. Gotham's police had also responded quickly.

In the past, Gotham's police would never have dared show up for something like this.

But now, with the conscientious Commissioner Gordon in charge, even the commissioner had come out. No one else dared slack off.

So Li Ang and Frank could only follow the police cars.

"What's going on?" Frank asked Li Ang.

But Li Ang didn't explain. He just shook his head. "Nothing. I just want to take a look."
