Background / History

Itachi awakened the Mangekyo Sharingan by age thirteen, amid the crisis surrounding the planned destruction of the Uchiha Clan. Initially aligned with Konoha’s order to exterminate his clan, he was confronted by his elder brother Yoru’s alternative: relocating the clan to another world. Faced with the clan’s survival, Itachi abandoned the extermination mission and accepted the migration plan. 1 2 3

The reappearance of Shisui—whom Itachi had believed dead—deeply unsettled him. He nevertheless followed Yoru and the clan through the Naka Shrine portal into their new world. 4

After the Uchiha settled on Kuja Island, Itachi trained in Armament Haki but struggled to reconcile it with his Sharingan-based fighting style. He also remained burdened by guilt over having once intended to sacrifice fellow clan members, particularly Izumi. 21 22

During the Uchiha’s conflict with the Marines, Itachi defended Kuja Island from Vice Admirals Shark and Momonga. He used Tsukuyomi to break Momonga’s will, then controlled two Sea Kings bearing his Sharingan to blockade the route to the island. 31 32

When the clan returned to Konoha, Yoru assigned Itachi to eliminate the Third Hokage. Itachi’s Yata Garasu Fruit restored his body and reduced the burden of his Mangekyo, allowing him to recover during the battle. Later, Itachi helped secure Uchiha-controlled Konoha by capturing Orochimaru and placing a genjutsu on him to prevent escape. He also joined Fugaku in intercepting Akatsuki’s Hidan and Kakuzu. 79 80 99
