Background / History

Shisui was believed to have died after Danzō took his right eye and he jumped into the Naka River. Uchiha Yoru secretly rescued him, however, and kept him hidden for roughly half a year while he recovered. His concealment was also a form of “protective” house arrest: Yoru did not want Shisui’s reluctance to oppose Konoha to weaken the clan’s resolve. Disillusioned with Danzō, Shisui ultimately cooperated with Yoru’s plan. 4

When Yoru relocated the Uchiha Clan to a new world, Shisui reappeared before the clan to calm the unrest. He recovered his Mangekyo Sharingan from Itachi and publicly stood behind Yoru, signaling his acceptance of the clan head’s leadership. 4

Yoru later used Shisui’s disappearance to rally the clan, falsely portraying Shisui’s failed attempt to use Kotoamatsukami as an effort to control Konoha’s senior officials for the Uchiha’s sake. Shisui recognized the manipulation but reluctantly supported Yoru’s account. 5

Personality

Shisui is consistently gentle, patient, and reluctant to escalate conflict. He tries to resolve disputes through explanation rather than force, even when Kuja warriors angrily confront him or when Hancock clashes with Uchiha patrols. 23 29

His compassion often conflicts with his duty to the clan. He initially hesitates to intervene against Saint Charlos because he fears exposing himself and endangering Kuja Island, but ultimately chooses to rescue Scarface and Hikari. 45 47

Despite this hesitation, Shisui is resolute when others are in danger. He endures severe injury to protect the Uchiha retreat from Hancock, then directly confronts CP0 so Inabi can evacuate the wounded. 13 14 47

Yoru considers Shisui excessively self-sacrificing, citing his acceptance of losing an eye and his willingness to remove himself rather than risk worsening the Uchiha–Konoha conflict. 33

During the confrontation with the Gorgon Sisters and Boa Hancock, Shisui defeats Sandersonia through speed and tactical Fire Release. He is later overwhelmed by Hancock but summons Susanoo to shield the clan from her Slave Arrow and buy time for their retreat. 10 11 12 13 14

Kuja Alliance and Chakra Training
