Background / History

Sasuke is the sole living survivor of the Uchiha clan massacre, in which Itachi kills Fugaku, Mikoto, and the rest of the clan. Before dying, Fugaku entrusts Sasuke to Itachi's care. 1

After killing Itachi, Sasuke learns of Konoha's involvement in the Uchiha clan's downfall and turns his vengeance toward the village. Itachi's death triggers Sasuke's Mangekyō Sharingan awakening. 179 181

During his pursuit of Danzō, Sasuke is covertly rescued from the Masked Man by Fugaku, who initially presents himself as a masked “ghost of the Uchiha Clan.” Fugaku offers Itachi's eyes in exchange for Sasuke's help resurrecting Orochimaru. 185 Karin successfully performs the transplant, allowing Sasuke to awaken the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan. 186 187

Personality

Sasuke is cold, guarded, and intensely driven by revenge. He remains focused on his own goals even when Suigetsu warns him that resurrecting Orochimaru is dangerous. 188 His pride as an Uchiha also makes him reject Fugaku's reverence for Kenma and dismiss the idea of gods as merely powerful individuals. 191

Despite his harshness, Sasuke shows concern for those close to him. He worries about Karin after being rescued, tends to Naruto after their defeat, and repeatedly hesitates to seriously harm Fugaku despite opposing him. 185 203 208
