Background and History

The Sun Moon Empire was regarded as the strongest of the major empires and substantially ahead of the Star Luo Empire in overall strength. Though it had lost a continental war thousands of years earlier and accepted restrictions on army size, it retained a technological and military advantage through Soul Tools and elite Soul Engineer legions. Shrek Academy had required sixty Title Douluo to defeat it in that earlier conflict. 204 477

Before the change of regime, the imperial court and Crown Prince Xu Tianran maintained deep cooperation with the Holy Spirit Cult. The arrangement was considered politically useful but dangerous even to other Sun Moon interests because of the cult's nature as an Evil Soul Master organization. 128 129

Zhen Hongchen gradually seized the empire's core institutions by placing Level 9 Soul Engineers, royal relatives, and officials under Master-Servant Contracts. His initial power base included Jing Hongchen, Wang Ming, Zhang Feng, Ye Yulin, Xu Guozhong, and Xu Tianyuan; he later moved against the Royal Soul Engineer Corps and the Hall of Offerings. 204 209 210 217

The coup culminated in the deposition and contractual submission of the old emperor. Princess Xu Tianzhen was enthroned as Empress, while Zhen Hongchen ruled as Regent. The transition was secured through the support of Kong Deming, the Level 9 Soul Engineers, the Royal Soul Engineer Corps, and the empire's Soul Tool legions. 224 232

The Sun Moon Scepter was the principal symbol of imperial authority. It controlled the four high-energy compression array Soul Tool devices in Mingdu, numerous powerful Soul Tools across the capital, and access to classified locations including the imperial treasury. 222 223

Following continental unification, the former empire received six of the twelve seats in An Zhen's planned Imperial Council, reflecting its superior comprehensive national strength. 428

• Five Great Protector Soul Engineer Legions — The empire's principal military formations. While the original Douluo nations still relied heavily on armor and crossbows, Sun Moon forces had already equipped their troops with Soul Tools. 204

Technology and Industry

The empire's Soul Tool system surpassed that of the original three Douluo nations in concepts, inherited knowledge, and production capacity. Its technological lead extended beyond elite Level 9 Soul Engineers to low- and mid-tier manufacturing. 322

Economy and Resource Development

The post-coup government expanded Deep Sea Ore extraction to fuel rapid Soul Tool development. The empire previously mined nearly fifty million tons annually, held roughly 1.8 billion tons in storage, and was estimated to have 150 years of remaining reserves at that rate. 266

Zhen Hongchen ordered 1.7 billion tons of stored Deep Sea Ore allocated for use, leaving 100 million tons as reserve stock, while Mingde Hall was directed to improve mining and exploration Soul Tools. 266

The mining expansion created jobs, encouraged the construction of new settlements, lowered living costs, and slightly increased wages. Energy crystals were transported to Mingdu and throughout the country to support industrial development. 289 290

Overseas mining and ocean development also expanded imperial influence, including the growth of Dongyang City as a northern port center. These operations led to clashes with sea soul beasts and the Sea Princess clan. 312 316

Society and Public Programs

The empire maintained comparatively developed welfare in Mingdu, including official orphanages and free martial soul awakening for eligible citizens. 400

Under the regency, the government proposed the Sun Moon Hall, modeled partly after Spirit Hall. Its initial responsibilities were:

• Talent cultivation.
• Integration of Sun Moon Hall facilities with schools, particularly in smaller cities. 309

The Sun Moon Hall later provided cultural and vocational education alongside martial soul awakening, giving commoners access to basic schooling and advancement channels. 456

Following the coup, the empire pursued public diplomacy with Shrek Academy and the original Douluo nations while continuing to expand its military and industrial capacity. It offered Level 9 Soul Tools to Shrek Academy and entered formal trade agreements. 322

The Star Luo Empire received Soul Tools from Levels 1 through 8, while military Soul Tools were restricted to Level 7 and below. In exchange, Star Luo provided energy ores and other energy-rich treasures; the two states also reached a political peace treaty. 322

The empire's increasingly friendly posture did not dispel outside concern. Its rapid technological growth, Level 10 Soul Engineers, and historical rivalry with the original Douluo nations led many observers to fear that its diplomacy concealed preparations for conquest. 290 334

Unification into the World Empire

The Sun Moon Empire's elite forces later entered the Sky Soul Empire after its emperor attempted to ally with them against An Zhen. The Sky Soul ruler did not realize that the Sun Moon Regent King and the Douling Emperor were the same person. 408 415 416

The revelation of An Zhen's dual identity was received calmly within the Sun Moon Empire. Its population credited the Regent with eliminating the Holy Spirit Cult, distributing divine blessings, expanding the economy, and overseeing an unprecedented period of prosperity. 419

In World Year 1, the Sun Moon Empire, Douling Empire, and Star Luo Empire formally ended their division and merged into the World Empire, with An Zhen as emperor. 431
