Background / History
Lia was born on Blue Flame Island in the Rainbow Archipelago, the daughter of an explorer who helped discover the archipelago and establish its first village. When she was fourteen, armed raiders destroyed the island settlement and killed her parents. An uncle brought her away, but he died in a storm a year later. During this period, Lia spontaneously awakened her Spirituality and became a Navigator. 46
She became a female captain and spent five or six years pursuing the raiders responsible for her family’s deaths. At nineteen, she identified the great pirate Avery as the likely culprit and attacked him with alchemical gunpowder at Pirate City of Umbar. She destroyed his ship but failed to kill him. Avery, a Curse warlock, afflicted her with the Sea Devil Curse, which prevented her from boarding ships or entering seawater without attracting sea demons and risking corruption of her Spirituality. After her ship was sunk, Commander Abigail rescued her. 46
Unable to return to sea, Lia joined the Whaling Group at Paradise Port, becoming a director and managing the Breath of the Ocean. She met Ian while exchanging intelligence on the southern continent for his high-quality enchanted weapon oil. Their initial commercial partnership developed into mutual trust. 17 20
Ian gave Lia a potion derived from Lesser Life Water that cleared the curse’s corruption from her Spirituality and removed the black scar it had left on her face. Though she initially refused his invitation to become First Mate because of her fear of the sea, she later chose to board the Leviathan. 36 37 40
Appearance
Lia is a striking woman with long hair, sparkling eyes, and a habit of slightly curling her lips as though smiling. Her Common carries a soft, distinctive accent. 17
- Originally bore a twisted black scar on her face, caused by the Sea Devil Curse. 35 46
- The scar vanished after she drank Ian’s healing potion, restoring her confidence. 37
- Wore leather armor and carried two flintlock pistols when joining the Leviathan. 40
- Her Siren Witch awakening refined her features and gave her an unusually captivating aura. 279
- Her Symbiotic Wings are purplish-red when fully formed. 379
Personality
Lia is composed, observant, and professional. She treats useful information and agreements seriously, but Ian’s respectful treatment of her as an equal quickly earned her goodwill. 17
Years of loss, revenge, and the Sea Devil Curse made her guarded and self-conscious. She concealed her emotions behind a cool exterior and initially feared returning to sea. Her recovery from the curse and her decision to join the Leviathan marked a decisive break from that isolation. 36 37 46
As First Mate and later Navy Commander, Lia is efficient, disciplined, and dependable under pressure. She handles supplies, military rewards, personnel screening, fleet logistics, and diplomatic situations when Ian is absent. 63 112 140 226 After living with Ian, she becomes noticeably gentler while remaining concerned for his safety and the stability of their territory. 389
