Ch. 141After the Battle

After the battle, Tsuna dealt with Yamamoto’s anger and helped the injured while Ichigo recovered beneath Sōkyoku Hill. Tsuna warned Ichigo that a future threat could destroy the world, leaving Ichigo determined to grow stronger and surprised that his father would visit the Soul Society.

  • Yamamoto thanked Tsuna for helping the Seireitei, then berated Kyōraku for failing to prepare for Aizen and sent him to rescue the injured and handle the aftermath.
  • Tsuna freed Hiyori and Kuna Hak from Love’s bindings, then told Uryū to help carry the wounded Lisa to Orihime.
  • Tsuna found Ichigo beneath Sōkyoku Hill, where Ichigo admitted Zangetsu had needed to take control to stop Ulquiorra.
  • Tsuna told Ichigo that someone planned to destroy the world and that stronger enemies would keep appearing, prompting Ichigo to insist he should have been told sooner.
  • Tsuna explained that Ichigo’s parents had wanted him to live an ordinary life, then said Isshin would visit in a couple of days, surprising Ichigo.

Ch. 142A Dead Heart

After Aizen's attack left the Captains and Visored wounded, Tsuna arranged treatment and discussed intelligence and compensation with Kyōraku and Urahara. He discovered that Momo Hinamori's mind had already accepted her own death, leaving Orihime unable to heal her.

  • Ichigo learned that Isshin planned to come to Soul Society, and Tsuna told him to help move the wounded instead of worrying about it.
  • Uryū gave Urahara a white sphere, and Tsuna agreed that Urahara could negotiate with Kyōraku over compensation and freedom of movement.
  • Kyōraku asked Tsuna to treat the injured Captains, and Tsuna explained that they should first receive ordinary medical care because his healing could strain their bodies.
  • Kenpachi Zaraki challenged Tsuna to a death match, but Tsuna promised to fight him properly in a few days.
  • Orihime struggled to heal Momo Hinamori, and Tsuna used D. Spada's Magic Mirror to discover that Momo's mind had already accepted her death.

Ch. 143Post-Battle Rescue

Tsuna used Han Ga Ryu’s Sun Attribute power to heal Momo Hinamori and treat the wounded captains after the battle. Yamamoto then offered Tsuna a new Gotei 13 division that could remain stationed in the World of the Living, but Tsuna had not accepted.

  • Tsuna explained that Momo Hinamori’s body could be kept alive, but her heart had accepted death, so Toshiro asked him to save her anyway.
  • Tsuna summoned Han Ga Ryu, whose Sun Attribute rounds stimulated Momo Hinamori’s healing while Orihime maintained Soten Kisshun; Han Ga Ryu also helped Toshiro recover enough to reach her.
  • Tsuna refused to use the same risky treatment on Ukitake, then waited for the 4th Division and the Shin'o Academy of Medicine to treat the wounded.
  • Kyōraku asked Tsuna to help heal the injured captains, so Han Ga Ryu bathed them in gentler Sun Attribute radiance that restored their wounds.
  • Yamamoto offered Tsuna a newly established Gotei 13 division with a World of the Living post and freedom from routine orders, while Tsuna had already refused to join Soul Society.

Ch. 144The Kurosaki Family's Trip to Soul Society

Kurosaki Isshin returned to Soul Society with his family and was welcomed at the Shiba Clan residence, where Kūkaku punished him for disappearing. Isshin then prepared to face the Seireitei, while Tsuna promised to protect the family and accompanied them toward the 10th Division.

  • Kurosaki Isshin emerged from the Dangai with Masaki, Yuzu, and Karin, and Kūkaku Shiba and Ganju Shiba welcomed the family to their home.
  • Kūkaku beat Isshin for abandoning the Shiba Clan and changing his surname, then the family paid respects to their ancestors and shared a meal.
  • Isshin worried that the Seireitei would hold him responsible for leaving the 10th Division without arranging a handover, but Masaki and Ichigo assured him they could protect themselves.
  • Tsuna promised Masaki that no one in the Seireitei could harm Isshin and said he would take Yuzu and Karin to see Isshin's former workplace.
  • Tsuna and the Kurosaki Family left the Shiba Clan residence and headed toward the Seireitei.

Ch. 14510th Division

Tsuna and his companions entered Seireitei through the West White Path Gate and reached the 10th Division Barracks with Isshin. Isshin’s return sparked Rangiku’s fury and Toshiro’s resentment, while Toshiro kept watching Karin.

  • Tsuna’s group met Jirobo Ikkanzaka at the West White Path Gate, where he attacked Tsuna over his brother’s injuries and Tsuna defeated him with Lightning Horn.
  • Tsuna reminded Jirobo that Ichigo had beaten his brother after the brother attacked the girls, then sent Ichigo to open the gate.
  • Ichigo lifted the gate with help from his Hollow mask, and Tsuna used Arnold’s Handcuffs to keep him from being crushed as they entered Seireitei.
  • Isshin led the group to the 10th Division Barracks, where a Squad Member recognized Tsuna’s reference to Hachi and went to inform Rangiku.
  • Rangiku recognized Isshin and repeatedly punched him for abandoning the division, while Toshiro welcomed the others and told Rangiku to hit Isshin more.
  • Toshiro served tea to the guests and repeatedly glanced at Karin, while Tsuna watched from the corner.

Ch. 146The Two of Them, Feeling Depressed

Isshin returned to the 10th Division, where Toshiro asked her to reclaim her captaincy so he could train and avenge Momo Hinamori, but she refused and offered to spar with him instead. As the visit lifted the division’s spirits, Tsuna reassured Rangiku that Gin Ichimaru would survive, leaving her determined to question him about Gin’s defection.

  • Rangiku confronted Isshin about abandoning the 10th Division, and Isshin apologized before explaining she had only come to visit.
  • Toshiro asked Isshin to take back the captain’s position so he could focus on training to defeat Aizen, but Isshin refused and promised to spar with him.
  • Isshin acknowledged Toshiro as the division’s captain, and she, Toshiro, and Rangiku toured the barracks and visited old friends with the Kurosaki family.
  • Rangiku thanked Tsuna for bringing Isshin back, and Tsuna told her he would bring Gin Ichimaru back someday and keep him from dying to Aizen.
  • Rangiku decided to ask Tsuna what he knew about Gin’s defection, while Isshin staggered out and tried to get Tsuna to drink with her.

Ch. 147Invitation from the 1st Division

Shiba Isshin explained why he had left Soul Society and asked Yamamoto to let him remain in the World of the Living as Kurosaki Isshin. Yamamoto heard Kyōraku’s recommendation to overlook the matter, while Tsuna remained focused on confronting Sasakibe.

  • Tsuna woke in the 10th Division Barracks after Isshin kept him up drinking, and he, Isshin, and Toshiro discussed visiting the 1st Division.
  • Kyōraku arrived with Yamamoto’s invitation for Isshin and Tsuna to attend a talk, and Toshiro joined them.
  • Yamamoto gathered the group, including Sasakibe, Unohana, Ukitake, Urahara, and Hirako, in his tea room.
  • Isshin recounted how Aizen’s actions had led him to remain in the World of the Living and lose his powers while saving his wife.
  • Kyōraku advised Yamamoto to overlook Isshin’s departure because Aizen had framed him and Ichigo had served Soul Society.

Ch. 148Stereotypes

Tsuna challenged the Gotei 13’s duty to obey Central 46 and exposed how its judgments served noble interests, while Yamamoto revealed plans to replace it with a new institution. The meeting ended with Kyōraku realizing Yamamoto’s long-term efforts had prepared the Gotei 13 to weaken the nobles’ control over Soul Society.

  • Yamamoto confronted Tsuna for letting Aizen escape, and Tsuna admitted he had agreed not to attack Aizen atop the Sōkyoku in exchange for Aizen leaving the World of the Living alone.
  • Tsuna questioned whether the Gotei 13 should pursue Aizen despite his goals, and he challenged Ukitake’s defense of Central 46 by pointing to its unjust judgments and the lack of plans to rebuild it.
  • Tsuna asked whether the Gotei 13 protected Soul Society or merely the Seireitei, prompting Ukitake to reconsider his beliefs before Kyōraku affirmed the Gotei’s broader responsibility.
  • Yamamoto announced that the Gotei 13 needed a new, public-minded institution to replace Central 46 and said the old nobles’ system of interests should be swept away.
  • Kyōraku realized Yamamoto had spent years reducing noble influence by building a Gotei 13 led largely by commoners and had allowed Yoruichi and Isshin to remain in the World of the Living rather than return as noble representatives.

Ch. 149A Millennium in the Making

Chojiro recounted how Yamamoto spent a millennium weakening the nobles’ control over the Gotei 13, while Tsuna helped reveal the political consequences of Aizen’s actions. Yamamoto planned to bring the Visored back into the Gotei 13, establish a new institution under Kyōraku, and eventually retire to the academy.

  • Chojiro explained that the Quincy invasion led Yamamoto to form the original Gotei 13, then trade authority to the nobles for resources and gradually regain control through Shino Academy.
  • Chojiro described how the nobles sought influence through Kaien Shiba and Isshin Shiba, but their plans failed as the Shiba Clan declined and the Kuchiki Clan became the only noble house commanding a division.
  • Tsuna asked whether Central 46 would have been rebuilt if Hirako and the other Visored had not appeared, and Yamamoto said he would have prioritized retaining control of the Gotei 13 over restoring it.
  • Yamamoto invited Hirako to choose three Visored to fill vacancies in the 3rd, 5th, and 9th Divisions, permitting them to use Hollow powers so long as they controlled them.
  • Yamamoto assigned Aikawa Love to a new institution and ordered Kyōraku to establish it, promising him the Captain-Commander position after Aizen was captured and Yamamoto retired.

Ch. 150Gotei 13 and the Royal Guard

At a Gotei 13 meeting, Tsuna argued that Aizen’s plan to seize the Soul King’s throne did not automatically threaten Soul Society and that the Royal Guard should face him first, while Urahara revealed contingency preparations. After Yamamoto postponed a decision on Aizen, Tsuna challenged Chōjirō, but Yamamoto stepped in to fight him himself.

  • Yamamoto asked Tsuna for his views on capturing Aizen, and Tsuna argued that Aizen’s ambitions did not conflict with protecting Soul Society unless they threatened its stability.
  • Tsuna proposed leaving Aizen and the Royal Guard to clash, while Urahara revealed that he had prepared a passage to the Soul King Palace in case the Royal Guard needed support.
  • Urahara’s preparations included Koume and Jinta as artificial Soul King candidates, and Yamamoto explained how the Royal Guard gained power and revealed that he and Kuruyashiki Kenpachi had declined invitations to join it.
  • Yamamoto postponed deciding how to deal with Aizen, ordered Hirako Shinji to arrange his capture, and dismissed the meeting.
  • Tsuna called on Chōjirō Sasakibe to settle their dispute, but Yamamoto stopped Chōjirō and offered to fight Tsuna himself.

Ch. 151Challenge Invitation

Yamamoto arranged a full-strength battle with Sawada Tsunayoshi at the Sokyoku for noon the next day, with Urahara organizing a barrier strong enough to contain it. After the meeting, Yamamoto told Kyōraku he feared Tsuna could surpass him within a hundred years and began preparing Kyōraku to inherit leadership of the Gotei 13.

  • Tsuna refused to fight Yamamoto unless Yamamoto could use the full power of his thousand-year-cultivated Bankai, and Urahara offered to assemble Kido experts to create a barrier.
  • Yamamoto assigned Urahara to prepare the barrier by noon the next day and chose the Sokyoku as the battle site, while Tsuna warned Urahara to block the thing in the shadows.
  • Tsuna said he would explain the greater danger if Yamamoto defeated him, and Yamamoto summoned the Captains to observe the battle while Vice-Captains patrolled the Seireitei.
  • After the meeting, Kyōraku asked why Yamamoto would not personally train Tsuna, and Yamamoto explained that Tsuna could become too powerful to control after a hundred years.
  • Yamamoto told Kyōraku he would gradually hand the Gotei 13 over to him and urged him to develop the strength to restrain its Captains.

Ch. 152Battle Against Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto

Tsuna faced Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto in a battle at Sogyoku Hill while their allies watched from behind Urahara’s barrier. Tsuna revealed his Cloud Attribute Bankai and gained the initiative, leaving Yamamoto surrounded by Roll’s scattered spikes as their fight continued.

  • Tsuna ordered Tatsuki, Ichigo, and Uryū to stay alert and protect Isshin’s family, while Isshin chose to watch the battle and guide Toshiro.
  • The next day, Urahara gathered the spectators behind a Kido barrier, and Yamamoto opened the fight with Ryūjin Jakka’s flames and Torch.
  • Tsuna released his Cloud Attribute Bankai, summoned Roll, and used its multiplying hedgehog spheres to block Yamamoto’s City Wall on Fire.
  • Tsuna charged Yamamoto with his Floating Cloud Tonfas and forced him back, while Roll’s sphere nearly pierced Yamamoto from behind.
  • Yamamoto destroyed Roll’s sphere with a slash, but its fragments scattered spikes around him as Tsuna launched another attack.

Ch. 153Great Fire Sword

Tsuna and Yamamoto traded increasingly powerful attacks as Yamamoto unveiled his Bankai technique, Lava Hell, and Tsuna answered with his Cloud Attribute Resurrección. The Spike Dragons filled the battlefield and surrounded Yamamoto, leaving the watching captains anticipating Tsuna’s next move.

  • Tsuna survived Yamamoto’s Blazing Sun with his chained Floating Cloud Tonfas, but Yamamoto struck him with One Bone and shattered the tonfa spikes.
  • Tsuna used Arnold’s Handcuffs to bind Yamamoto’s arm and fired Spike Gun, but Yamamoto melted the restraints with his Flame Armor.
  • Yamamoto activated Bankai and unleashed Great Fire Sword, Lava Hell, engulfing the Sogyoku in lava pillars.
  • Tsuna protected himself with Modified Needle Ball State, then transformed into his Cloud Attribute Resurrección, Spike Dragon.
  • Tsuna’s proliferating Spike Dragons held back the lava pillars and filled the barrier space around Yamamoto as the watching captains reacted to the battle.

Ch. 154Zanka no Tachi

Tsuna and Yamamoto fought inside Urahara’s barrier, with Yamamoto destroying Tsuna’s multiplying Spike Dragons and Tsuna answering with a layered assault. Yamamoto finally released his Bankai, Zanka no Tachi, and sent Tsuna flying backward.

  • Urahara maintained the barrier with Ukitake’s help while Yamamoto advanced through Tsuna’s multiplying Spike Dragons.
  • Yamamoto used Star Fire Burns the Prairie to make the Spike Dragons explode in a chain reaction, wiping them out.
  • Tsuna closed in with his Floating Cloud Tonfas, Small Rolls, and Spike Dragons, but Yamamoto blocked his attacks with the Great Fire Sword.
  • Tsuna named Zanka no Tachi to distract Yamamoto, then bound the Great Fire Sword and struck him with Spitting Pearls of the Spirit Serpent.
  • Yamamoto emerged from the smoke, knocked Tsuna away with a surge of spiritual pressure, and announced Bankai, Zanka no Tachi.

Ch. 155Beyond Bankai

Yamamoto revealed Zanka no Tachi and overwhelmed Tsuna with its power, but Tsuna refused to end the fight and unveiled Beyond Bankai, a fusion of his Bleach, Hollow, and Fullbring abilities. His new form shook the barrier as the story left the fighters facing the power of his Star Chain Proliferation of Cloud.

  • Yamamoto drew the flames into his Zanpakuto and revealed Zanka no Tachi, whose concentrated power left the onlookers stunned.
  • Tsuna recovered from the collision with Yamamoto’s incomplete Rising Sun Blade, which destroyed most of his Floating Cloud Tonfa.
  • Yamamoto acknowledged Tsuna’s strength and warned him that the complete Rising Sun Blade would end the fight, but Tsuna demanded to see his other techniques.
  • Tsuna released his Bankai and Resurrección and asked whether Yamamoto had ever sought power beyond Bankai.
  • Tsuna fused his Bleach, Hollow, and Fullbring powers into Beyond Bankai, shaking the barrier until Urahara and the Kido users stabilized it.
  • Tsuna emerged wielding the Cloud Dragon Offering Pearls Floating Cloud Tonfas and activated Star Chain Proliferation of Cloud.

Ch. 156Floating Cloud Bite Kill

Tsuna and Yamamoto fought with their full strength as Urahara, Ukitake, Unohana, and the other Soul Reapers struggled to contain the battle’s destruction. After Yamamoto revealed the sun-hot power of Zanka no Tachi: West, Tsuna formed purple thorn armor to withstand the heat.

  • Yamamoto attacked Tsuna with Zanka no Tachi, and their first clash shattered the Sokyoku.
  • Tsuna explained that his Floating Cloud Tonfas were condensed from Cloud Flames, and he and Yamamoto traded a relentless barrage of blows.
  • Ukitake activated his Bankai to divert the battle’s aftershocks while Urahara and Unohana helped stabilize the barrier and heal him.
  • Tsuna entered Six-Armed Mode, restrained Yamamoto, and pierced him repeatedly with Floating Cloud Bite Kill.
  • Yamamoto revealed Zanka no Tachi: West - Zanjitsu Gokui, surrounding himself with flames reaching fifteen million degrees and healing his wounds.
  • Tsuna’s Roll armor burst apart and multiplied into a suit of purple thorn armor around him.

Ch. 157An Army of One

Yamamoto summoned his army of the dead, and Tsuna answered with a multiplying force of Cloud animals and Spike Dragons. As the two armies fought to a stalemate, Yamamoto sent the original Gotei 13 into battle, forcing Tsuna to prepare to join the fray.

  • Yamamoto used Zanka no Tachi: South to summon skeletons from the dead and send them after Tsuna.
  • Tsuna multiplied his Black and White Handcuffs, transforming them into Cloud Hedgehogs and Cloud Velociraptors that overwhelmed the skeleton army.
  • Yamamoto restored the skeletons to their living forms, including the original Gotei 13, whose history Unohana Retsu revealed to the watching captains.
  • Tsuna summoned Spike Dragons to reinforce his animal army and bring the battle back toward a stalemate with Yamamoto's undead.
  • Yamamoto noticed Tsuna watching the original Gotei 13 and ordered them to attack.

Ch. 158I Want to Fight Ten at Once

Tsuna fought Yamamoto’s resurrected founding Gotei 13 captains and the undead army summoned by South, destroying nearly all of them with his animals, tonfas, and Chain Flower Dance. He defeated the last surviving captains as the barrier neared collapse, then faced Yamamoto.

  • Yamamoto summoned the founding Gotei 13, whose captains slaughtered the animal army while Tsuna rushed into battle.
  • Tsuna split into three bodies to fight the founding captains, but Yamamoto strengthened them with flames resembling Zanjitsu Gokui.
  • Tsuna merged his bodies and used Chain Flower Dance to cut through the undead army and destroy most of the founding captains.
  • Tsuna sent his animals after Iwahara Kinre, Katori Batsuryusai, and Kumenoi Entetsu while he defeated Shihōin Senjuro with Floating Cloud Bite Kill.
  • Tsuna killed Iwahara Kinre and Katori Batsuryusai, while the animals finished off Kumenoi Entetsu.
  • With Yamamoto’s undead army defeated and the barrier close to collapsing, Tsuna turned to face Yamamoto.

Ch. 159Tengai Kyojin

Tsuna and Yamamoto unleashed their strongest attacks, shattering Urahara’s barrier and sending aftershocks into the sky. Tsuna lost his right arm and collapsed, and Yamamoto caught him as the battle ended.

  • Tsuna and Yamamoto prepared final attacks while Toshiro, Kyōraku, and the other captains helped Urahara reinforce the unstable barrier.
  • Kurotsuchi Mayuri sent Nemu Kurotsuchi to carve Quincy-inspired patterns into the barrier, strengthening it just before the attacks landed.
  • Yamamoto unleashed Tengai Kyojin at Tsuna’s right arm, and Tsuna countered with Floating Cloud Ultimate Bite; their forces collided and shattered the barrier.
  • Ukitake redirected the battle’s aftershock into the sky, where it broke two barriers protecting the Soul King Palace, while Byakuya, Kyōraku, and Hirako were hurt protecting the spectators.
  • Tsuna emerged with his right arm gone and collapsed from exhaustion, and Yamamoto caught him while admiring his Beyond Bankai.

Ch. 160Zanpakuto Fusion

Tsuna explained his view of Zanpakuto as keys to a Bleach’s potential and told Yamamoto that Beyond Bankai fused a Bleach with their Zanpakuto. Yamamoto learned that Tsuna was willing to share the new power, leaving him to consider what it could mean for Soul Society.

  • Tsuna woke in Squad 4’s barracks, reunited with Tatsuki and his friends, and learned he had been unconscious for half a day.
  • Yamamoto privately asked Tsuna about his stance toward Soul Society and Beyond Bankai.
  • Tsuna said he sought peace and balance across the Three Worlds and had no ambition to disrupt them.
  • Tsuna described Zanpakuto as keys that unlock a Bleach’s talents and argued that releases let Bleach gain control over their own power.
  • Tsuna explained that Beyond Bankai came from removing the Zanpakuto as an intermediary by fusing it with the Bleach.
