Background
Link returned to Whitestone Town with Anna while investigating the disappearance of his grandfather, Old Watson. Old Watson had entered the Winter Forest with several helpers; only one returned, and that survivor later vanished as well. Link suspected that the subsequent disappearance of Whitestone Town's Night Watchman was connected to the case. Old Watson's will had falsely reported his death and left a house in Whitestone Town to Chris Watson 12.
Chris is Link's cousin, and Link had looked after Anna since their time in the Royal Capital. The two were assigned to patrol duty in Whitestone Town and stayed at the Town Hall 12.
Link eventually entered the core region of Winter Forest with Anna, Matthew, and the expedition party. There, his Bloodline Tracking Magic led the group to Old Watson's abandoned camp and then to his grandfather's body, which had been concealed inside a giant tree trunk. Link determined that Old Watson had been murdered by a wound that pierced from his back through his chest 56 80.
Afterward, Link served as an Investigator in the Six-Ring Wizard City's Western District. His investigation into plague and Dark Magic incidents eventually brought him into conflict with the Kyle Family, whose retaliation killed members of his squad and transformed Anna into a Flying Head Demon 170 247.
Appearance
Link is tall and usually wears his hair tied in a ponytail. He often carries himself with a relaxed, somewhat lazy demeanor, though he presents himself sharply in formal attire at social functions 14 30.
- Tall build 14
- Ponytail hairstyle 30
- Wears a longsword at his waist while on duty 12
- Appeared in a well-fitted formal suit at Lady Alsha's banquet 14
- Used a refugee-like disguise while hiding from the Kyle Family in the Western District 247
Personality
Link is professional, responsible, and willing to correct mistakes. When Anna impulsively attacked Matthew, Link immediately ended the confrontation, apologized sincerely, and offered a magic stone containing Mage Armor as compensation 12.
He is also pragmatic and observant in investigations. Link gathers testimony carefully, recognizes when a suspect has motive, and respects legal restrictions against detaining nobles without evidence 30 31. His concern for Old Watson remains a major motivation behind his work in Whitestone Town 12 49.
Link is fiercely loyal to his companions. When a reckless new squad member continued probing the Kyle Family's Dark Magic activities and was killed, Link pursued the case rather than abandon his teammate. He remained determined to stop the Dark Wizard controlling Anna even after her transformation into a Flying Head Demon had become irreversible 247.
Despite the suspicious escape of two Mining Brotherhood captives, Link continued to trust Lady Alsha and believed that she would not intentionally betray the Court Wizards 94.

Link has completed two bloodline modifications, making him a melee-type wizard with physical capabilities beyond those of ordinary wizard apprentices 12 35.
- His first modification fused the bloodline of an Earthfire Giant Lizard 35.
- Grants exceptional healing; a cut made to empower his sword healed rapidly 35.

- The effects of his second bloodline modification have not been described 35.
Enchanted Swordsmanship
Link is a close-combat fighter who combines swordsmanship with bloodline-based flame enchantment.
- Feeds blood into his longsword to ignite it with blazing flames 35.
- Beheaded the Old White mutant with a fiery sword strike 35.
- His attacks alone could not stop the mutant's filament-based regeneration 35.
Bloodline Tracking Magic
Link can use Bloodline Tracking Magic to locate members of his bloodline over long distances.
- Sensed Old Watson's location in the depths of Winter Forest during Lady Jill's expedition 56.

Defensive and Utility Magic
- Conjures a translucent polygonal shield to withstand powerful physical attacks 35.

Investigation and Leadership
As a Court Wizard Investigator, Link leads casework, coordinates with Anna and Matthew, and can recruit Temporary Investigators into Court Wizard operations 30.

- Court Wizard Investigator badge — identity emblem and remote-communication tool 34 35.
- Mage Armor magic stone — Link gave Matthew a sapphire containing one use of Mage Armor as an apology for Anna's actions 12.
- Spatial Wizard Tool — used to carry Anna's body after retrieving it from his Royal Capital home 249.
- Old Watson's paintings — family keepsakes recovered from Link's home, including a strange forest painting with a hidden but empty indentation in its frame 249.
Relationships
- Matthew Black — Initially mistook Matthew for a suspicious figure after Anna attacked him, then apologized and developed a cooperative working relationship with him. Link later hired Matthew as a Temporary Investigator 12 30. Matthew joined Link's Winter Forest search, helped him confront the Dark Wizard behind the Flying Head Demon Curse, eliminated the Kyle Family watchers around Link's home, and provided Polyjuice Potion to help Link escape the Royal Capital 80 247 249.
- Anna — Fellow Court Wizard and longtime companion from the same hometown. Link looked after her, worked closely with her, and relied on their teamwork in combat and investigations 12 30 35. After Anna was made the first test subject for the Flying Head Demon Curse, Link sought to stop the Dark Wizard controlling her and later recovered her remains for burial 247 249.
- Old Watson — Link's missing grandfather. Finding him was Link's central personal investigation in Whitestone Town 12 49. Link later found Old Watson murdered and hidden within a tree in Winter Forest 80.
- Chris Watson — Link's cousin; Chris and Tina were saved by Matthew before Link met him 12. After becoming a target of the Kyle Family, Link planned to return to Whitestone Town and take Chris and Tina away from potential retaliation 249.

- Lady Jill — Merchant whose caravan accompanied Old Watson to Whitestone Town. Her information and Winter Forest exploration plans provided Link with new leads on his grandfather's disappearance 49 50.
- Kyle Family — A powerful Royal Capital family whose Dark Magic experiments and reprisals devastated Link's squad. Their actions transformed Anna into a Flying Head Demon and forced Link into hiding 247 249.
- Moon Candle Society — The Dark Wizard Link and Matthew defeated carried the society's ring, placing Link at risk of retaliation from the organization and prompting his flight from the Royal Capital 249.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Arrival in Whitestone Town
Link first encounters Matthew after Anna attacks him near the river. Once Chris identifies Matthew as the man who saved him and Tina, Link apologizes, gives Matthew a Mage Armor magic stone, and explains Old Watson's disappearance 12.
At Lady Alsha's banquet, Link introduces Matthew to Alsha and helps him enter Whitestone Town's wizarding circle 14.
Court Wizard Investigations
As captain of a Level 7 Investigator Squad, Link recruits Matthew as a Temporary Investigator to investigate the disappearance of the West Street Tavern owner 30. Alongside Anna and Matthew, he traces Old John's debts to Sir Rayne and the Mining Brotherhood 30 31.
Link maintains the investigation within Court Wizard regulations, refusing to detain Sir Rayne without evidence despite the suspicions surrounding him 31.
Old White Mutant Case
After Matthew calls for help at 56 Riverside Street, Link and Anna arrive to fight the mutated Old White. Link's flaming sword can sever the creature's head, but its regenerative ability prevents a conventional kill 34 35.
Link recognizes Old White among the faces on the monster's body, then works with Matthew and Anna to secure a search warrant for the White Ancestral Home. Their search establishes that Jack White is concealing evidence, though the immediate investigation produces few answers 35 36 37.
Winter Forest Expedition
Link continues pursuing leads on Old Watson through Lady Jill, learning that her missing subordinate had entered the Winter Forest with his grandfather 49. He agrees to lead his squad in a Court Wizard-backed Winter Forest exploration operation, nominally investigating the disappearance of an official member 50.
During the expedition, Link uses Bloodline Tracking Magic to locate Old Watson's trail in the deep forest 56. In the core region, he follows the signal to Old Watson's ruined camp, discovers his grandfather's body hidden inside a tree, and concludes from the piercing wound that he was murdered 80.
Western District Dark Magic Incidents
By the time Matthew encountered him in the Six-Ring Wizard City's Western District, Link had become a Level 1 Wizard and was investigating the plague affecting Emerald Kingdom refugees 170 247.
Link's later inquiry into the Kyle Family's Dark Magic activities resulted in the deaths of his squad members and Anna's transformation into a Flying Head Demon. In hiding, he reunited with Matthew and accepted his aid in tracking the Dark Wizard responsible for controlling Anna 247.
After the Dark Wizard's defeat, Link recovered Anna's body from his watched home. Matthew eliminated the Kyle Family wizards lying in wait, warned Link that the Moon Candle Society would likely pursue them, and gave him Polyjuice Potion to facilitate his escape 249.
Flight from the Royal Capital
Link recovered Old Watson's paintings from his home, including several cryptic works that may be connected to his grandfather's Winter Forest journey. One forest painting bore an empty hidden compartment and was rumored within the Watson family to cause disappearances when viewed for too long 249.
With the Kyle Family and Moon Candle Society likely seeking him, Link left the Royal Capital intending to retrieve Chris and Tina from Whitestone Town before his enemies could use them against him 249.
