Beneath this arrogance, Gerard is deeply disillusioned. He once fought for Grindelwald’s ideals, but the Saint's Society’s collapse and his dependence on the Elixir of Immortality left him bitter, fearful of death, and self-destructive. Background and History

Gerard was born in 1893. In his youth, he was a passionate supporter of Gellert Grindelwald and fought alongside the Saint's Society for its ideals. Following Grindelwald’s defeat and surrender, the Saints split between die-hard loyalists and conservatives; Gerard became embittered by what he considered Grindelwald’s abandonment of his followers. 441 443

He was one of the original Silver Spear members and was recognized as the strongest among the group’s seven brothers and sisters. He later became the organization’s foremost combatant, operating with Black Dragon in the Americas before being assigned to establish and manage Silver Spear activity in Britain. 461 470

Gerard became dependent on the Elixir of Immortality, which preserved his youthful body and immense magical reserve but made him dependent on Runic Snake’s supply. The potion’s control eroded his ideals and intensified his resentment toward the club’s leadership. 441 443 444

British Operations

As the Silver Spear’s British leader, Thunderbird directed Acelia’s infiltration of the Ministry of Magic and oversaw the smuggling of a young Thunderbird into Britain. The operation succeeded, but abandoned feathers allowed the Ministry to identify the creature and begin treating the organization as a major threat. 392 393 528

He blamed Acelia and his subordinates for operational failures, rejected the use of stolen interference devices, and targeted Anduin because Silver Flash alchemical equipment had strengthened the Ministry’s tracking and anti-Apparition capabilities. 334 335

Thunderbird initially underestimated Anduin as an alchemist with no meaningful combat ability. After meeting him in battle, he attempted to recruit him into the Silver Spear, recognizing that Anduin could match him even while Thunderbird fought at his ordinary level. 335 366

Defeat and Interrogation

Thunderbird fought Anduin in a prolonged confrontation, using Blade of Flame, spatial sealing, Fierce Fire, and Blue Fierce Fire. Anduin ultimately countered his escape preparations with extensive traps, interference devices, and Portkey blockers. 368 370 439 440

After his capture, Thunderbird disclosed the Elixir of Immortality’s effects, the Silver Spear’s history, and his true identity as Gerard. He offered Anduin his knowledge, spells, collections, and intelligence in exchange for help killing Runic Snake. 441 443 444

He also asked Anduin to deliver a message to Grindelwald if he ever reached Nurmengard. 444
