Background / History
Ron grows up at the Burrow in a family with seven children. During Anduin Wilson’s visit, the young Ron plays on a toy broom, hovering roughly half a meter above the ground 247 628.
The Weasleys’ circumstances improve substantially through their connection to Anduin. Arthur becomes a small shareholder in Silver Flash Merchant, the family home is renovated, and Ron says he avoids having to rely on his brothers’ old clothes and discarded wands. Anduin also sends the children imported snacks on holidays and birthdays 628.
Ron calls Anduin “Uncle Wilson,” unlike several older brothers who retain their earlier habit of calling him “Big Brother.” He initially knows Anduin chiefly as a family benefactor, Battle Hero, and merchant founder; Hermione surprises him by listing Anduin’s additional achievements 628 629 632.
Appearance
- Childhood feature: A gap-toothed smile while playing on his toy broom at the Burrow 247.
- Temporary possessed form: In Despair Town, his skin turns red, dark-purple veins emerge, and his eyes glow red when his Fear Value reaches 100%. This is an instance-induced transformation, not his normal appearance 721.
Personality
Ron is sociable, boastful, and enthusiastic about magical luxuries. He proudly explains his family’s connection to Anduin and generously shares his imported snacks with Harry. Legendary items particularly captivate him: he repeatedly opens blind boxes and considers even a slim chance of obtaining one worth a nighttime adventure 628 630 650.
His competitiveness often becomes jealousy. He resents Ginny’s privileged access to Anduin’s creations, dislikes being outperformed by Hermione, and is discouraged when his balanced attributes prevent him from joining his friends in Despair Town. Nevertheless, he accepts Draco as a temporary replacement rather than holding the team back 627 671 776 778.
Ron is easily frightened by surprise attacks and horror-themed enemies, but fear does not prevent him from supporting his friends in combat. His loyalty also extends to Ginny: despite their arguments, he gives her two valuable attribute potions purchased with his own saved points 668 719 723 786.
His unusually severe irritability during his second year is partly caused by a dark magic item in Ginny’s possession. After its influence is removed, he readily accepts her apology and acknowledges that his disputes with Hermione had become uncharacteristically extreme 780 785 792.
Abilities & Skills
Spellcasting
- Levitation Charm: Documented at Level 2 during his first year 671.
- Repairing Charm and Transfiguration: Both documented at Level 1 on the same panel 671.
- Repelling Charm: Used while testing Harry’s self-hypnosis approach to stronger casting; repeating affirmations produces no improvement for Ron 728.
- Universal counter-curse: Ron and Harry break through the blocked entrance to Platform Nine and Three-Quarters instead of missing their train 776.
- Ranged support: Helps Neville and Hermione eliminate a Demon Servant during a chaotic quarry battle 721.
- Possession-enhanced attack: As a “Possessed Survivor,” he fires a Shattering Spell at Hermione with increased speed and power. This enhancement occurs under hostile instance possession 721.
Tactical Judgment and Teamwork
- Eavesdrops on Cedric’s squad to obtain information, then presents the resulting route recommendation to his own team as his deduction 702.
- Recognizes that instance glasses reveal monster names, health bars, and equipment attributes 702.
- After becoming separated from his squad, weighs the danger of retracing the route and cooperates with Draco to search the shopping center 702.
- Warns Hermione in time for her to evade Jason’s chainsaw attack 722.
- During negotiations with Draco, insists that a temporary recruit must obey the team’s command structure 778.
- Anduin identifies him as well-rounded, without an obvious weakness, and recognizes his tactical potential 674.
Close Combat and Limitations
- Defeats a Skeleton Swordsman and inspects its dropped sword and shield 702.
- Uses a fire axe against Jason’s legs, helping disable the monster during its multiple-life battle 723.
- Joins Neville and Hermione in dispatching Freddy’s clones once Harry reveals them 728.
- His fear is a major liability in Despair Town: enemies focus on him as his Fear Value rises, and reaching 100% causes possession and an attack on his own teammate 719 721.
- Pennywise’s mental attacks leave him needing help to recover; Hermione supplies a courage badge to reduce the danger of another possession 726 727.

- White Bone Shield — Equipped on his left arm; 50/50 durability and weak magic defense 702.
- Fire axe — Receives Neville’s previous weapon during Despair Town and uses it against Jason 722 723.
- Courage badge — Passed to him by Hermione to help prevent his Fear Value from reaching the possession threshold again 726.

- Hermione Granger — Friend and teammate with whom he frequently argues over studying, effort, and performance. Their later near-fights are intensified by an external dark magic influence 629 649 671 785 792.

- Ginny Weasley — Younger sister. Ron envies her gifts and training advantages, yet spends valuable reward points on potions for her and forgives her unintended role in the club’s emotional disturbance 627 777 786 792.
- Draco Malfoy — Rival and occasional cooperative partner. Their first confrontation centers on Draco’s Hurricane Staff; later they work together in the ruins, and Ron accepts his temporary place on Harry’s team 629 702 778.
- Arthur and Molly Weasley — Parents. Arthur’s business connection to Anduin improves the household’s finances; Molly reprimands Ron and the twins for mistreating Ginny 627 628.
- Bill, Charlie, Percy, Fred, and George Weasley — Older brothers. Ron joins Fred and George in sibling disputes, visits Charlie in Romania at Christmas, and looks to Percy’s instance rewards as a possible source of assistance 627 632 696 784.
- Hog — Anduin’s assistant, whose behavior during examinations and surprise inspections repeatedly irritates Ron 635 668.
- Severus Snape — Distrusted professor. Ron helps investigate his suspected theft of the Philosopher’s Stone; learning that the suspicion was mistaken does not erase Ron’s resentment of Snape’s treatment of the group 716 729 749.
- Luna Lovegood — Neighbor whom Ron introduces to Harry and Hermione when she joins the Tactics Club 780.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Arrival at Hogwarts
- Meets Harry at King’s Cross during a dispute about a legendary blind-box prize, then boards the Hogwarts Express with him 627.
- Ridicules Draco’s Hurricane Staff, provoking a whirlwind attack that catches Harry instead. Harry’s Shining Spirit teleports him to safety 629 630.
- Joins Harry, Neville, and Hermione on a nighttime search for a living ship. Their detour activates the Abyss Well guardian before they eventually meet Leona and are caught by Anduin aboard her ship 651 653 655 656.
Tactics Club and Ruins Challenges
- Receives direct admission to the Tactics Club after Anduin’s frightening surprise inspections 668.
- Is assigned to Penelope’s squad alongside Draco, Susan, and Mandy for a rescue challenge; after an ambush, he and Draco continue independently 701 702.
- Becomes part of the leading first-year Ruins Instance team with Harry, Hermione, and Neville. Snape’s bans on Harry and Neville threaten their position as Draco’s squad rises in the rankings 714.
Despair Town and the Philosopher’s Stone
- Helps investigate Snape and advises Hagrid to send Norbert to Charlie in Romania before the group considers Anduin’s ranch as an alternative 716.
- Enters Despair Town with his friends while trying to stop the suspected theft of the Philosopher’s Stone. The instance’s fear mechanics expose his vulnerability to horror enemies and possession 717 719 721.
- Eventually cooperates with Snape after the group’s suspicions unravel. Following the incident, the quartet is placed under a gag order and privately reflects on its mistaken conclusions 725 729 749.
Second-Year Team Changes
- Starts the year unable to meet Despair Town’s new attribute requirements and agrees to Draco temporarily taking his place 776 778.
- Rejoins the team after collective training and reward-funded attribute improvements 785.
- Gives Ginny valuable potions despite their sibling rivalry. The later removal of her dark magic item explains the escalating hostility among club members 786 792.
- Continues participating in the instance system as Battlefield and advanced spell rewards become available 792 803.
Return for a New School Year
- Reunites with Harry, Hermione, and Neville on the Hogwarts Express and announces that Hogwarts will be receiving exchange students. He also relays Arthur’s assurance that Anduin’s security system makes additional Ministry guards unnecessary 851.
Notable Quotes
“But that’s a Legendary Item! No matter how small the chance, why wouldn’t we strive for it if there’s an opportunity?” 650
“I have no objections either. But there are some things we need to clarify beforehand.” 778
Trivia
- Ron knows enough Muggle pop-culture imagery to mock Draco’s heart-shaped staff as a magical-girl transformation wand, having picked up unusual knowledge from Muggle children near the Burrow 629.
- He remembers Scabbers as Percy’s pet rat and notes that it disappeared the day after one of Anduin’s visits, two years before Ron’s first journey to Hogwarts 628.
- He questions Lockhart’s decision to assign ten of his own books as textbooks, criticizing the expense before the students collectively recognize the professor’s incompetence 776 815.
