Teachings

The Jie Sect’s Dao is embodied by “Jie”: seizing a thread of life for all beings. It rejects passive submission to Heaven’s decree and teaches that those willing to seek the Dao deserve an opportunity to hear it 3 4.

“For the All Beings of heaven and earth, Seize a Thread of Life! Teach Without Discrimination—so long as one possesses the heart to seek the Dao, one may hear the Dao!” 4

Its admissions philosophy does not judge candidates by origin, pedigree, or former affiliation. Nether River’s Blood Sea lineage, the Witch Clan’s warriors, Chaos beings, and former Chan Sect disciple Shen Gongbao are all accepted or considered under this principle 153 179 415 530.

Members are expected to abide by sect rules, respect Tongtian and their senior brothers and sisters, and contribute to the Jie Sect 237. The Xuandi Heavenly Domain branch additionally promises protection, cultivation opportunities, and support against powerful enemies to those who join 513.

History

Xuandu’s admission

Before Xuandu joined, the Jie Sect was already renowned for its vast body of disciples, including Personal Disciples, the Seven Attendant Immortals, outer disciples, and registered disciples dispersed across the Great Wilderness 1. Xuandu chose it over Laozi’s Human Sect because its numerous disciples could empower his Total Sum System, whereas the Human Sect was expected to have only one disciple 1.

Xuandu arrived at Golden Ao Island and openly requested admission before Tongtian and Laozi. His stated wish to secure a chance of survival for the Human Race aligned with the Jie Sect’s teachings, leading Tongtian to accept him 3 4. His admission immediately activated the system’s real-time calculation of the sect’s combined cultivation 4.

Rise in fortune and influence

Xuandu’s promotion to Personal Disciple gave him equal standing with the sect’s leading disciples and made him an important bearer of the Jie Sect’s fortune 23. He later became Vice Sect Master and used that authority to recruit powerful beings and expand the sect’s reach 153 373.

The North Sea Black Tortoise’s admission brought its immense destiny and future sky-supporting merit into the sect, causing the Jie Sect’s Fortune River to surge 66. Xuandu’s acceptance of the Human Race as disciples later doubled the Jie Sect’s fortune through the Human Race’s rising destiny 103.

After Xuandu mended the sky and fixed the four poles, thirty percent of the resulting Sky-Mending Merit entered the Jie Sect, increasing its fortune by another thirty percent and establishing it as the foremost sect in the Great Wilderness 215.

Martial Dao and the Hunyuan path

Xuandu proposed spreading his Martial Dao throughout the Jie Sect as preparation for the Path of Hunyuan. The path requires a clear Dao Heart, profound foundations, and the ability to withstand the Great Dao Tribulation; Martial Dao cultivation is intended to strengthen the body, soul, and foundation for that attempt 157.

Tongtian accepted the proposal and tasked Xuandu with first teaching the Personal Disciples and core disciples 157. Duobao, Zhao Gongming, San Xiao, Wudang, Guiling, Jinling, Kong Xuan, and the Golden-Winged Great Peng are among those shown cultivating Martial Dao before the Witch-Demon War 175.

Witch-Demon War

Xuandu negotiated for Witch Clan warriors—not the Ancestral Witches themselves—to enter the Jie Sect and cultivate Martial Dao. He presented it as a means to preserve the Witch Clan’s bloodline and enhance its warriors’ strength 179.

Tongtian agreed to receive the Witch Clan warriors on the condition that they obey Jie Sect rules and uphold its teachings 182. During the decisive battle at Buzhou Mountain, the Jie Sect’s elites arrived to aid the Witch Clan and caught the Demon Race off guard 199. Tens of millions of Witch Clan warriors are later counted among the Jie Sect’s forces 237.

Stabilizing the sect’s destiny

Although its fortune was immense, the Jie Sect lacked a supreme treasure capable of suppressing it; the Immortal-Slaying Sword Formation’s killing nature instead attracted karma and calamity 242.

After obtaining the Chaos Bell, Xuandu chose to use it for the Jie Sect rather than keep it solely for personal combat. He refined the bell and suspended it above the sect’s Fortune Hub, stabilizing the sect’s previously unstable destiny 242 243.

Investiture of the Gods Tribulation

The Investiture of the Gods List initially placed a disproportionate burden on the Jie Sect: of 365 Orthodox Gods, 2,000 deputy gods, and 84,000 heavenly soldiers and generals, the Chan Sect and Human Sect were assigned only small portions while the remainder was demanded from the Jie Sect 375.

Tongtian entered Purple Heaven Palace alone to sign the list, while Xuandu ordered the Jie Sect to continue cultivating, teaching, and protecting the Human Race rather than retreat from its usual responsibilities 372 373. Duobao temporarily administered the sect during this period 373 374.

When the tribulation began, Xuandu ordered the disciples to aid Shang, strike Western Qi, kill their enemies, and spare Jiang Ziya 437. The sect’s forces entered the battlefield under Duobao, Kong Xuan, Zhao Gongming, San Xiao, Wudang, Guiling, Jinling, and other disciples 437 438.

Expansion into the Xuandi Heavenly Domain

Following events in the Great Wilderness, Xuandu ordered Shen Ni to establish a Jie Sect branch in the Northern Border of the Xuandi Heavenly Domain, using the Central Floating Continent as its base 502 503.

The branch’s foundation includes Azure Mystery and Green Wood, both half-step Hunyuan Taiji beings, with Shen Ni acting as guardian 511 513. Its open recruitment draws rogue cultivators, Chaos beasts, transformed spiritual roots, and established cultivators from across the Heavenly Domain 512 513.
