Background

Ayanokoji was confined in the White House from childhood, an artificial-genius project established by his father, Ayanokoji Atsuomi. The program subjected selected children to cruel selection; Kiyotaka emerged as its foremost success and possessed knowledge and experience beyond his peers. Despite this, he wanted an ordinary life rather than the future his father intended for him. 163 167

The White House did not solely cultivate academic talent; its children were also used for assassinations and other illicit work. Atsuomi maintained control through childhood brainwashing and deeply implanted psychological suggestions, making defiance difficult even for escapees such as Kiyotaka. 445 465

He escaped the White House roughly half a year before Atsuomi located him at Advanced Nurturing High School. Matsuo Eiichiro, another exceptional White House creation and the son of its operator, helped him flee; Ayanokoji regards the escape as having come at Matsuo’s cost. 163 167

Ayanokoji’s escape did not free him completely from his father’s influence. After his later expulsion, Atsuomi had him returned to the White House for punishment. Kiyotaka was eventually recovered with Kato Megumi and Akasaka Ryunosuke’s support. 455 456 457

His time with Akasaka nevertheless changes him. When resolving Nanase’s hostility, he chooses to remove her grudge rather than eliminate her, partly out of consideration for Matsuo and partly because her cooperation could help Akasaka later. 317
