Ch. 401The Right Place
Key plot points and events
- Leo leads Ais, Lefiya Viridis, and Lefiya through the maze-like Daedalus Street, deliberately seeking a secluded way into the sewers. He reassures the others that, if necessary, his flight magic can get them out.
- Leo finds an old sewer entrance, breaks its rusted lock, and guides the group underground. They discover that magic-stone devices purify the water, keeping the sewers cleaner than expected.
- Assault Fish attack from the water. Ais and Lefiya Viridis dispatch them easily; Leo protects Lefiya while continuing to search.
- The group finds an abandoned waterway gate whose lock shows signs of recent use. They pass through it into a flooded network of old channels.
- After wading deeper into the maze, Ais senses monsters ahead. A group of large man-eating flowers erupts from the water, confirming that Leo has led them to the place they were searching for.
Character developments and interactions
- Leo shows confidence and initiative: he conceals that he knows the destination, keeps the group moving, and takes the lead through the sewers. He also enters the flooded passage first and protects Lefiya.
- Lefiya Viridis becomes overwhelmed by the confusing streets but regains composure once Leo reassures the group. She contributes her magic-stone lamp, identifies the purification devices, and inspects the old gate.
- Ais remains quiet and observant, noticing that the gate has been used recently and later sensing the approaching monsters before the others.
- Lefiya helps with support and equipment, including carrying the lamp and packing away Leo’s cloak.
- The group trusts one another and adapts quickly: they accept Leo’s lead, fight the fish monsters without panic, and follow him through the flooded channels.
Significant themes
- Trust amid uncertainty: The companions cannot navigate the streets or sewers on their own, but rely on Leo’s confidence and each other’s skills.
- Preparation and observation: Small clues—the gate’s worn lock and Ais’s sensitivity to monsters—turn a seemingly aimless search into a discovery.
- The persistence of danger: Monsters still inhabit the world outside the Dungeon, and even a city’s sewers can become a route for them to reach Orario.
