Background
Qin Meng was born in Luming Fort with exceptional natural strength and courage, but failed to find a path in martial arts. A forced attempt to exceed his limits damaged his foundation, leaving him chronically ill. After his parents died during an alien invasion and his elder brother Qin Lie disappeared beyond the border, he fell into alcoholism, gambling, and despair. 1
Before the story begins, Shen Qiuyue—his child bride, whom the former Qin Meng had mistreated—sells herself for fifty taels of silver to buy medicine after he nearly freezes to death. When he awakens, Qin Meng declares that his former self is “dead” and commits himself to supporting and protecting her. 1
His awakening also reveals a golden-panel ability that records his martial skills, life source, talents, and cultivation. He turns to mountain hunting as his means of repaying Shen Qiuyue’s debt and rebuilding their household. 1 3
Appearance
At eighteen, Qin Meng is tall and sturdily built, with regular features, a defined jawline, and eyes described as burning with spirit. His former sickly, dejected appearance fades as his physique and cultivation improve. 7
- Naturally possesses a powerful physique, later reinforced by multiple body-enhancing techniques and talents. 1 4
- Often carries a bow and saber while hunting or traveling. 5 23
- Can alter his height, facial contours, voice, body temperature, and aura through Environmental Integration. 16 41
Personality
Qin Meng is driven by responsibility after witnessing Shen Qiuyue’s sacrifice. He abandons gambling and drinking, hunts to provide for their home, pays every outstanding debt, and publicly cuts ties with the fort’s ruffians. 1 3 22
He is patient and disciplined in training, repeatedly using hunting, sparring, and life-or-death battles to improve his martial skills. He also thinks strategically: he conceals his strength, uses disguises and ambushes, and avoids exposing his connection to killings when doing so would endanger Luming Fort. 8 29 44
Toward enemies, Qin Meng is ruthless and decisive. He views persistent threats—especially those directed at Shen Qiuyue—as problems to be eliminated rather than endured. 18 30 49 Toward allies and neighbors, he is generous with food, money, training, and protection. 17 19 41 45
