Background
Xun Yi was raised by a prominent family in Lin Chang Commandery and received strict martial training from childhood. Rather than enter the Mission Hall as his family expected, he rebelled by choosing the Alchemy Hall after joining the True Martial Sect. 108
His acceptance as Yi Feng's disciple elevated the Xun Family's standing, causing the Family Head and his relatives to treat him with new courtesy. Xun Yi resents this utilitarian change in attitude and seldom returns home, though he still supports the family within reasonable limits because of their past investment in him. 108 111
Personality
Xun Yi is restrained, practical, and deeply devoted to alchemy. He prefers refining cultivation-aiding pills over pursuing poison arts, considering a person's time and energy too limited to study every field. 114
Despite his usually composed manner, he has a playful side around Chen Mo. He teases his junior brother about women, openly discusses his own desires, and becomes increasingly curious about Chen Mo's Disguise Art. 110 115
He is burdened by his family's expectations but remains responsible toward both them and his sect. When unrest threatens Lin Chang Commandery, he immediately chooses to return to the True Martial Sect and later escorts an injured Commandery Governor's Mansion envoy to the Fierce Tiger Sect. 111 117 118
