Background

Qin Zhaoer is the Qin Clan's Eighth Dao Child and Qin Wangchuan's elder sister. Before meeting him properly, she resented the extraordinary favor he received as the clan's Ninth Young Master: his Zeroth-Rank resource priority and Divine Seed convinced her that she was being reduced to a mere foil for him. This resentment led her to confront and demean Ye Jianwei, whom Wangchuan had taken under his protection. 12

Her rivalry with Wangchuan became public when she accepted his challenge to a spar. Though both were in the Fourth Realm, Zhaoer—then a nine-year-old Saint Body cultivator—was overwhelmed by a single sword strike and badly embarrassed. The defeat began to temper her earlier certainty of superiority. 16 17

Over time, resentment became fascination.
