Turles was far stronger than Dero could resist. The moment Turles rested a hand on Dero's shoulder, Dero felt as though a mountain had come crashing down on him. Sensing Turles's power, he stared in shock at the Saiyan he had only just met!
"You..."
Turles said, "Dero, everything we have right now is just speculation. We have no concrete evidence. Obsidian Planet is protected by three forces: the Galactic Patrol, the Cosmic Mercenary Alliance, and the Cosmic Business Alliance. The Mercenary Arena is obviously backed by the Cosmic Mercenary Alliance. Someone with your strength wouldn't stand a chance against those forces!"
Turles carefully explained the situation to Dero, finally calming him down.
"Turles, you're right! I'm no match for the Cosmic Mercenary Alliance." Dero looked dejected, but quickly rallied. "Still, it's fine. The elders of my people can help us unlock our potential and increase our power. I've never had an elder unlock mine, so when I return, I'll be able to make a huge leap in strength. Then I'm sure I can take them down!"
"Your elders can unlock your potential too?" This time, Turles was genuinely stunned. He hadn't expected that, apart from the Grand Elder, any other Namekians knew how to unlock someone's potential. If he could get this elder to unlock his, his current power could explode!
Turles couldn't help getting excited. Ever since he'd gotten the Gravity Chamber, he'd spent nearly all his time in the Training Room.
The Gravity Chamber truly lived up to its reputation as a training accelerator from Dragon Ball. After a month of training, and repeatedly pushing himself to the point of severe injury, Turles's power had now reached 80,000.
He still couldn't compare to Son Goku, who had gone from 8,000 to 90,000 in just six days. But Turles had already come to terms with his body's potential. He didn't have Senzu Beans to help him recover, and he didn't dare push himself to the brink of death. So he was satisfied with his current power!
If Dero's elder unlocked his potential, Turles's power might shoot up to around 200,000. Then he wouldn't have to fear the powerful fighter on Obsidian Planet.
Turles had sensed the strongest fighter on the planet as soon as he arrived. That fighter had a terrifying power level of 280,000.
With a power level of 200,000, Turles was confident he could handle him, thanks to his control over ki and the special techniques he'd developed through mental simulation training.
Becoming strong took more than just training. It also took fighting all kinds of battles, and facing enemies without holding back. That was the fastest way to grow!
Turles had no intention of letting Broly fight for now. For one thing, Broly's emotions were highly unstable. If he lost control, no one on the planet could stop him. Besides, Turles didn't want to become dependent on Broly. Broly was his final trump card.
Still, Turles had no plans to confront the enemy directly. He already had a plan in mind.
After dropping the two little ones, Kru and Kla, off with Paragus, Turles, Broly, and Dero returned to the cave.
"Turles, what are we doing here? I want to rescue these people too, but if we make too much of a fuss, we might not be able to leave Obsidian Planet. You said yourself that these people are closely connected to the arena!"
Looking at the cave nearby, Dero seemed confused and asked Turles directly.
Turles closed his eyes and sensed the area. As expected, he couldn't sense any ki.
Opening his eyes, Turles explained, "We don't need to make a fuss. With our current strength, we can easily deal with the people inside and rescue the captives. Then we can take them straight to the Galactic Patrol station. Given the Galactic Patrol's public image, they won't be able to ignore this. Even if the Mercenary Alliance is involved, they won't be able to say anything openly."
"Besides, we might even get news about your other people from them!"
Dero's eyes immediately lit up.
"Good!"
Once they'd agreed on the plan, the three didn't waste any time and flew straight into the cave.
Their brazen intrusion quickly caught the attention of the people inside. Footsteps echoed, and three aliens appeared in front of them, including the one with two horns.
Turles sensed that the three aliens weren't weak. Even the weakest had a power level above 5,000, while the strongest, the two-horned alien, had a power level of exactly 10,000. But they were no match for the three of them.
"Who are you?" one of the aliens shouted.
The three exchanged glances, then attacked. Turles went after the two-horned alien, leaving the other two to Broly and Dero.
Three figures flashed forward. Before the aliens could react, all three had been taken down without even a scream.
After dealing with them, the three followed Dero to where the slaves were being held.
Even though Turles had been prepared for what he'd find, the sight before him still made him uncomfortable. He'd seen far worse horrors in his memories, but they were only memories. His personality was still primarily that of his former self.
So when he saw intelligent beings being treated like animals, he still found it hard to accept.
Taking a deep breath, Turles nodded to Broly and began freeing the captives from all kinds of alien races.
A flash of light sliced through the unbreakable Thundersteel chains. Turles pulled them away and opened the cages. One by one, captives of all shapes and sizes stepped out.
In the end, more than a hundred people stood before Turles. Most were young members of their various races. Many belonged to powerful races Turles knew from his memories, some of which had fighters with power levels over 10,000. Their captors must have been bold, and confident in their backing, to dare provoke so many races.
Dero, who had gone to deal with the remaining guards, walked over. He didn't look particularly happy. It seemed he hadn't found any news about his people.
Turles said nothing, only patting Dero on the shoulder in consolation.
They still couldn't let their guard down. Until they'd safely delivered everyone to the Galactic Patrol station, there was no telling if their captors might try to destroy the evidence along the way.
Turles stood before the more than one hundred captives, his expression stern. "You're not completely out of danger yet. We'll take you to the Galactic Patrol station. Everyone who can fly, take one person who can't. Quickly!"
At Turles's words, the captives panicked and the group grew chaotic. Seeing this, Turles had no choice but to release his ki. A powerful pressure began to spread from him.
Like prey sensing a natural enemy, they couldn't sense ki, but their instincts still warned them of the danger. Everyone fell silent. Some even dropped to their knees and bowed to Turles repeatedly.
Once they were quiet, Turles repeated his instructions. This time, everyone obediently followed his arrangements.
Fortunately, these races were more or less warrior races, so few of them couldn't fly.
After organizing them, Turles instructed Dero, "Dero, you and Broly will fly at the front of the group. You know the way, and Broly will protect you. I'll follow at the rear!"
Dero gave Turles a long look and replied solemnly, "All right. I understand!" Then he turned and headed to the front of the group.
"Phew!"
After everyone had left, Turles let out a long breath.
Turles hadn't gone to all this trouble to rescue them simply out of kindness. His main goal was to leave Dero with the impression that he was a just person. Turles was a Saiyan, after all, and any alien with a shred of sense would have a poor first impression of Saiyans. At the very least, they wouldn't think Saiyans were good people. Hadn't Dero immediately taken up a fighting stance the first time he saw Turles?
Since Turles wanted Dero's elder to unlock his potential, making a good impression was essential. After Turles had rescued all these people, Dero could put in a good word for him. That way, the elder might not refuse him outright.
Besides, the Saiyans were going to develop in the center of the galaxy, and the center was different from the North Galaxy. The Galactic Patrol was the strongest force there, so it was important to build a good public image. Turles didn't want to wake up one day and find the Galactic Patrol surrounding their home. Changing the Saiyans' reputation was essential, and he thought the Saiyans of Universe 6 had done a good job of it.
He could follow the example of the Saiyans of Universe 6 and take on missions from the Galactic Patrol or the Mercenary Alliance. That would satisfy the Saiyans' love of fighting while improving their public image.
Turles wasn't worried about whether the Saiyans would accept this approach. Saiyans respected strength. As long as he was strong enough, he'd have the final say among them. And he knew how to make Saiyans stronger, so there was no reason they wouldn't listen.
Still, it was too early to worry about all that. Including Turles, there were only four Saiyans with him, and they didn't even have a planet of their own. There was no point talking about rebuilding the Saiyans or founding a faction yet.
"The road ahead is long."
With that final sigh, Turles hurried after the group.
