Background / History

After King Vegeta conquered Planet Plant and renamed it Planet Vegeta, he established a Science Division to preserve and develop the technology inherited from the Tuffles. A young Paragus joined the division out of admiration for the king, abandoning the prestige of a warrior to work on the Saiyan Rise Project. With Frieza's support, the division reverse-engineered Tuffle healing agents, and Paragus became one of King Vegeta's trusted confidants. 28

Broly's birth changed Paragus's position completely. Born with a battle power of 10,000, Broly was viewed by King Vegeta as a possible Legendary Super Saiyan and was exiled to Planet Vampa. Paragus pursued his son's ship, but its depleted fuel left both father and son stranded there for eighteen years. 28

On Vampa, Paragus's former loyalty to King Vegeta became hatred. He intended to return with Broly, overthrow King Vegeta, and claim the Saiyan throne for himself. Turles's arrival finally gave him a route off the planet; after learning that Frieza had destroyed Planet Vegeta, Paragus accepted Turles's plan to escape Frieza's influence, rebuild the Saiyans, and redirect his revenge toward Vegeta. 4 7

Personality

Paragus is intensely ambitious and status-conscious. He repeatedly imagines himself as the next Saiyan king, proposes naming a new Saiyan world “Planet Paragus,” and sees Broly's overwhelming strength as the foundation for both his revenge and his political rise. 4 29 35

He is suspicious, calculating, and quick to react violently when threatened. Rather than trust Turles's offer of escape, he first attempts to subdue him; after witnessing Turles's rapid growth, he develops killing intent out of fear that another exceptional Saiyan could threaten his ambitions. 5

Despite this opportunism, Paragus is not wholly indifferent to his companions. He comforts Turles after Broly defeats him, decides against fleeing when Turles loses control as a Great Ape, and instead sends Broly to help save him. His relationship with Broly mixes genuine paternal attachment with repeated exploitation of his son's power. 8 17 26
