Raditz's Power Soars

Raditz put the Senzu Bean in his mouth and instinctively chewed and swallowed it.

As soon as the Senzu Bean reached his stomach, Raditz, who had been on the verge of death, suddenly sat up as if he'd come back from the brink.

Turles, meanwhile, wore a thoughtful expression.

Just moments ago, Turles had wanted to use his Psychic Power to investigate how the Senzu Bean worked and why Saiyans grew so much stronger after recovering from a serious injury. But everything had happened too quickly. Before he could figure anything out, Raditz had already recovered.

Whoosh!

Turles was still deep in thought when he suddenly heard something cut through the air. His body reacted instinctively, and he leaped backward, narrowly dodging the attack.

Looking up, Turles realized that Raditz had been the one to strike.

Raditz's face was filled with fury, and the hatred in his eyes was fixed plainly on Turles. The energy radiating from him kept rising, quickly surpassing the 10,000 mark.

Turles wanted to see just how much Raditz's strength had increased after recovering from the brink of death, so he didn't explain himself right away. Instead, he looked at Raditz with disdain, a taunting glint in his eyes.

Raditz was nearly blinded by rage. At the sight of Turles's expression, his resentment only grew. The last thread of restraint snapped, and with a shout, he charged at Turles, no longer caring about the gap in their strength.

Raditz was already incredibly fast. Everyone present except Dero could barely follow his movements with their eyes—but Turles was faster.

Before Raditz could reach him, Turles simply sidestepped, neatly dodging his attack.

But after dodging, Turles didn't strike back. He just kept provoking Raditz, evading his attacks over and over.

No matter how Raditz attacked, Turles always found an opening and effortlessly dodged him.

In just a few minutes, Raditz had launched thousands upon thousands of attacks at Turles. He hadn't even managed to damage a single strand of Turles's hair.

That only made Raditz angrier, and his attacks grew faster and faster.

Watching Raditz and Turles fight, Son Goku's eyes shone with excitement. It was difficult, but thanks to his outstanding battle instincts, he managed to follow their movements.

Son Goku had never seen such a powerful fight. Compared with his own past battles, it was like children playing house. He couldn't help wondering whether he should take Turles's advice and venture out into the universe.

Turles, however, was somewhat disappointed by Raditz's performance. Compared with Son Goku, Raditz seemed like a real letdown.

It wasn't just a question of whether Raditz had the same protagonist's luck as his younger brother, Son Goku, and could raise his battle power to hundreds of thousands—or even a million—after suffering a single serious injury.

Even if Raditz's battle power had risen past 100,000 this time, Turles wouldn't have been wary of him. He would actually have been delighted.

As Turles's strength increased, he'd realized that he was in a lull, with no suitable opponents to fight.

Someone like Frieza was far too powerful; Turles wasn't a match for him yet. Even transforming with Great Ape Power would only get him killed.

As for members of the main cast like Son Goku and Vegeta, they hadn't entered their period of rapid growth yet. Fighting them wouldn't help Turles improve much. He wasn't Son Goku, who could find the joy of battle even against opponents far weaker than himself.

So Turles was in an awkward position. The powerful fighters he knew were either too strong for him or hadn't grown strong enough yet. That was why he'd gotten so excited when he encountered Blue on Muhua Planet last time, nearly destroying the whole planet.

If Raditz had become much stronger after recovering from his injuries, Turles would have been thrilled to have an opponent.

Unfortunately, as the fight went on, Turles noticed that Raditz's energy had stopped rising. From what he could sense, Raditz's battle power was now around 50,000.

For Raditz, going from 8,000 to 50,000 was a tremendous increase. But to Turles, it still wasn't much.

Since Raditz hadn't reached the level Turles had expected, Turles no longer felt like fighting. He moved in close, appearing before Raditz like a phantom.

Turles fixed Raditz with a cold stare, placed a hand on his shoulder, and said icily, "That's enough, Raditz!"

At the sound of Turles's voice, Raditz's courage ebbed like a receding tide. He looked at Turles in terror and stammered, "Turles, I..."

Turles took his hand off Raditz's shoulder and gave him a long look. He said nothing, simply drifting down to the ground.

Turles had realized less than ten minutes into their fight that Raditz had already recovered from his fury. He'd just been blinded by his sudden increase in battle power and had used his anger as an excuse to challenge Turles.

This was common among Saiyans. Even Son Goku had often grown overconfident after a boost in strength and started acting recklessly. The most striking example was during the Cell Saga, when he threw his life away.

Raditz had done the same thing this time. His battle power had jumped from 8,000 to 50,000, and that was his base power. No wonder he'd grown arrogant enough to challenge Turles's standing.

Turles understood how Saiyans were, so this time he'd only given Raditz a warning. He trusted that Raditz would understand. If not, Turles wouldn't hesitate to kill him, even if he was one of the few Saiyans left.

As soon as Turles landed, Piccolo and Dero hurried over to him. Dero asked anxiously, "Turles, what just happened?"

"Nothing. I was just running an experiment."

After fighting Raditz, Turles had lost interest. He answered Dero flatly, then walked over to the side of the Lookout, sat cross-legged on the ground, and began meditating with his eyes closed.

Piccolo and Dero exchanged puzzled looks.

Son Goku, meanwhile, seemed to have figured something out. He was pestering Korin, asking him for a Senzu Bean.

So never assume Son Goku is simply-minded. When it comes to fighting, his intelligence shoots through the roof. He'd only watched Turles's demonstration, but he'd already figured out what was going on.

Now he wanted to get a Senzu Bean from Korin and try it out for himself.

"Goku, this isn't a small matter. How can you even think of doing that?"

Korin was still trying to talk Son Goku out of his ill-conceived plan.

As it turned out, Son Goku had just asked Korin to beat him half to death, like Turles had done, and then give him a Senzu Bean to see if he could grow stronger like Raditz.

Son Goku could be quite the little schemer sometimes, but the upright Korin would never agree to such a request. That was why he kept trying to talk Son Goku out of it.

Hearing their conversation, Dero and Piccolo exchanged a look, as if they'd realized something.
