Nature and Laws

The Dark Matter World is not a conventional afterlife. According to Alfred Austen and Tang Zhean, it is a separate dimension in which sentient consciousness reacts with dark matter to form a Dark Matter Body after death. What people call a “soul” is effectively consciousness and thought given form through dark matter. 21 31

Unlike the Material World, which is governed by stable physical laws, the Dark Matter World follows an idealist structure: thought, consciousness, information, and civilization directly influence reality. Its instability allows information to become power, but also permits chaos and distortion to manifest as monsters, curses, and other phenomena. 31 32

Property Effect
Physical laws Most known chemical reactions do not function; gunpowder becomes grit, and electricity cannot be generated by ordinary scientific means. Gravity has only an extremely weak influence on dark matter. 24 31
Consciousness Dark matter reacts intensely to thought and consciousness, reconstructing deceased sentient beings as Dark Matter Bodies. 21 31
Information Knowledge itself can be hazardous. Information related to Unnamable Entities can cause mutation, infection, disappearance, or erasure of records. 27 49
Civilization Human myths, beliefs, history, fiction, and collective perceptions can become tangible power or distorted manifestations after descending. 27 32
Technology Modern firearms remain usable only when Lu Yuanming supplies ammunition materialized through Colorless Light Particles; cold weapons are otherwise the organization’s practical standard. 24 26

Dimensional Descent

Dark matter was reportedly first discovered near Japan’s Super-Kamiokande Detector in late January 2024, after a mass suicide incident allowed researchers to observe souls interacting with it. The detector and its dark matter sample were subsequently relocated to a secret underground research base in New York. 21

Alfred states that dark matter was absent from Earth before 2024; deceased people simply died, while any theoretical soul dissipated immediately. Near the original dark matter fragment, however, souls could manifest and enter the dark matter layer. 21

As deaths and civilization accumulate, dark matter spreads and eventually pulls an entire intelligent civilization into its dimension. This process carries matter, sentient life, and civilization with it, creating an irreversible dimensional reduction that expands outward. 21 48

Great Darkening

The projected end state of this process is the Great Darkening: Earth’s transformation into the Dark Matter World, followed by the spread of a dark matter gap through the Solar System, the galaxy, and beyond. Alfred compares the process to an irreversible dimensional-reduction weapon, while later projections place humanity’s complete descent around 2030–2031. 21 22 48

Human Civilization Within the World

When a civilization descends, its sentient life and civilization are preserved in altered forms. Humans reconstruct themselves as Dark Matter Bodies, while civilization divides into urban territories and invisible Order Fragments. 32

Urban Territories and Orders

  • Urban territories are manifested portions of a descended civilization, such as the ruined New York City encountered by Lu Yuanming. They retain remnants of civilization’s order and can temporarily isolate the outside wilderness from Unnamable Entities. 27 32
  • Order Fragments are shattered portions of civilization’s laws and order. Individuals can use Orders as anchors when increasing their dark matter mass, reducing the distortion caused by growth. 32
  • Human civilization’s accumulated beliefs and perceptions can become direct sources of supernatural power. Lu Yuanming’s Faith Power and enchanted armor are examples of this principle. 27

Fallen Civilization

The Dark Matter World’s city monsters are not merely native animals. Man-faced Dogs, Monster Spiders, Bat Monsters, and similar creatures are distorted, dark, and malevolent aspects of fallen human civilization. 27 32

Because humanity and its civilization are still descending, these monsters cannot be permanently eradicated; they will continue to respawn until the descent is complete. 27

Major Phenomena

Light Particles

Particle Source and Function
White Light Particles Obtained by killing monsters. They strengthen a Dark Matter Body or soul, improving physical power, speed, and reaction time. 6 35
Colorless Light Particles Semi-transparent particles associated with faith, blessings, wishes, and material-world perception. They can materialize objects according to equivalent exchange and can temporarily multiply Lu Yuanming’s combat ability. 7 34 50
Gray Light Cluster A fragment of human civilization essence dropped by a Super Giant Spider. It can “enchant” equipment with a distortion phenomenon. 25 26

Enchanted Equipment

Lu Yuanming’s gray-light-enchanted golden-red armor demonstrates how civilization-derived power functions in the Dark Matter World. It can be summoned by thought, has negligible weight despite high durability, self-repairs over time, and provides infrared vision and automatic target identification. 26 33

Food and Agriculture

Food remains essential in the Dark Matter World, but ordinary supplies in replicated cities are scarce. Plants capable of being grown there are therefore strategically vital. 22

Eating monster flesh is strongly discouraged: survivors may transform into monsters or something worse. 22

Inhabitants and Threats

Dark Matter Humans

Dead sentient beings can enter the Dark Matter World and acquire bodies formed through the interaction of consciousness and dark matter. They retain thought, memory, and physical needs such as hunger and thirst. 2 7 31

Monsters, Ghosts, and Curses

  • City monsters arise from the chaotic and distorted parts of human civilization. 27 32
  • Ghosts and curses may be manifestations of civilization’s descent or effects related to Unnamable horrors. They are not ordinary Dark Matter World monsters. 37
  • In the Material World, ghosts and curses are effectively immortal and cannot be reliably defeated with ordinary human technology. 37

Unnamable Entities

The wilderness beyond descended human territories contains vast, ancient, Unnamable Entities. They are fundamentally different from the monsters within cities and are described as the Dark Matter World’s true monsters. 26 27

Their immense mass and information can harm people merely through awareness, observation, or direct knowledge. Once humanity and civilization completely descend, these entities are expected to surround and devour them. 27 49

Connection to the Material World

The Material World and the Dark Matter World can overlap through dark matter, residual fields, and Unknown Items. Within an unfolded Unknown Item field, the two worlds become partially hybridized: Dark Matter Bodies can manifest, and Colorless Light Particles can be used. 40

The Material World gradually neutralizes these fields. A single Unknown Item can reportedly sustain a circular field roughly fifteen meters across for approximately ten to fifteen minutes before being dissolved. 49

Communication and Observation

Direct communication between the two worlds is not possible through conventional technology. Historically, information was sent from the Dark Matter World by arranging visible text on the ground for observers in the Material World to read through a dark matter cluster. 29

After an early expedition and observation incident caused the disappearance of more than half a million people, direct observation of the Dark Matter World became taboo. Those exposed to its information could have their existence erased. 27 29

Historical Events

  • A secret international project known as Artificial Paradise sent more than 500,000 personnel into New York’s Dark Matter World to investigate dark matter and pursue post-death survival. 27
  • Most of the expedition disappeared after information exchange with the Dark Matter World. Its forward base vanished, and Dark Matter New York became a ruined battlefield-like city. 27
  • The disaster shifted research priorities away from developing the Dark Matter World and toward preventing humanity’s descent into it. 27
  • By Lu Yuanming’s known future, large-scale collapse begins with people and cities increasingly descending into the Dark Matter World, while monster activity expands around New York. 36 48
